For most U.S. buyers, the Fitbit Charge 6 is the best Fitbit to buy now. It combines built-in GPS, ECG, Google Wallet and Maps, and the broadest workout controls in a compact tracker. Choose the Inspire 3 for the lowest-cost, longest-lasting option; Fitbit Air for discreet screen-free tracking; or Versa 4 only if you specifically want a larger Fitbit display at a substantial discount.
| Pick | Best for | GPS | Battery claim | Main compromise |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Charge 6 | Best overall | Built-in | Up to about 7 days | Small screen |
| Inspire 3 | Budget and battery | Phone-connected | Up to 10 days | No onboard GPS or payments |
| Fitbit Air | Screenless tracking | None | About 7 days in independent comparison | Minimal on-device control |
| Versa 4 | Large-screen Fitbit | Built-in | Up to about 6 days | Aging smartwatch platform |
Battery figures are advertised or approximate, not guarantees. GPS, an always-on display, notifications and frequent measurements can reduce them sharply.
How to choose a Fitbit in 2026
Google’s current Fitbit comparison places the Charge 6, Inspire 3 and Fitbit Air at the center of the tracker range, while Versa 4 and Sense 2 are older Fitbit-branded watches that may still be sold. Google’s smartwatch development is focused on Pixel Watch, so “available” does not necessarily mean actively refreshed.

1. Fitbit Charge 6 — best overall Fitbit
View the Charge 6 at Google Store
Buy it for: built-in GPS, the fullest tracker feature set, and a compact band rather than a smartwatch.
The Charge 6 tracks steps, distance, calories, Active Zone Minutes, workouts, sleep, heart rate, resting heart rate, breathing rate, SpO₂, skin-temperature variation and menstrual-health metrics, subject to country, age and software limits. Its ECG app can assess heart rhythm and may identify signs consistent with atrial fibrillation in supported regions. Irregular-rhythm notifications are screening information, not emergency monitoring or a diagnosis.
Google says its machine-learning system provides the company’s most accurate heart-rate tracking on a Fitbit tracker; that is a manufacturer claim, not an independent universal ranking. Google Wallet and Google Maps are useful bonuses, and built-in GPS records a walk, run or ride without your phone. The 50-metre water-resistance rating is not a promise of permanent waterproofing.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsThe trade-off is a much smaller display and fewer apps and communication features than a Pixel Watch. GPS, always-on display and heavy notification use shorten battery life from the advertised maximum of roughly a week. Some coaching and workout content requires Google Health Premium.

- Google Fitbit Air is the unbelievably comfortable, exceptionally smart way to transform your health[1]; and Google Health brings together effortless tracking and adaptive coaching to help make the most of your everyday[2]
- Unlock more with Google Health Premium: With a premium membership, get personalized coaching that’s built with Gemini and adapts to your life[2]; get a 3-month trial at no cost to you[5] (Google Health Premium subscription sold separately)
- Comfortable fit - One Size Tracker (130-210 mm): The lightweight, micro-adjustable fit sits comfortably and quietly, so you can wear Google Fitbit Air through work, play, and sleep; advanced sensors and new algorithms power more accurate, precise health tracking, 24/7[1]
- Designed for every occasion: With no screen to distract you or disrupt your style, your tracker moves seamlessly from bracelet to workout band to sleep band, and you can change looks in seconds – just press the pebble in, click, and go
- Long battery life: Google Fitbit Air’s battery lasts up to a week, and fast charging gets you one day of battery life in just five minutes[6,7]
Verdict: Choose Charge 6 if you exercise without your phone or want ECG, payments and stronger wrist controls in a true fitness tracker.
2. Fitbit Inspire 3 — best budget Fitbit and battery life
View the Inspire 3 at Google Store
Buy it for: inexpensive everyday activity and sleep tracking with fewer charging interruptions.
The slim, lightweight Inspire 3 has a color display and tracks steps, distance, calories, heart rate, sleep stages, Sleep Score, Active Zone Minutes, cardio-fitness score and selected wellness measures. Its advertised battery life is up to 10 days, although brightness, notifications, workouts and measurement settings change real-world results.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →GPS is connected: the tracker borrows your phone’s GPS. There is no ECG, contactless payment or phone-free route recording, and on-device workout controls are simpler than Charge 6. That makes it excellent for sleep, steps and casual exercise, but a poor fit for a runner who leaves a phone at home. Its 50-metre water-resistance rating can decline with wear or damage; avoid high-velocity or high-temperature water.

- Learn to manage stress, sleep better and live healthier with Sense 2 – an advanced health and fitness smartwatch
- Manage stress and live healthier: All-day stress detection with cEDA and daily Stress Management Score, ECG app for atrial fibrillation assessment[1], irregular heart rhythm notifications[2], SpO2[3], health metrics dashboard[4], mindfulness content
- Measure and improve sleep quality: Daily sleep stages and Sleep Score, smart wake alarm and do not disturb mode
- Enhance activity: Built-in GPS and workout intensity map, Daily Readiness Score, Active Zone Minutes, all-day activity tracking and 24/7 heart rate, 40+ exercise modes and automatic exercise tracking, water resistant to 50 meters
- Designed for all-day wear: On-wrist Bluetooth calls, texts and phone notifications[5], customizable clock faces, Amazon Alexa built-in[6], Google Wallet & Maps, 6+ day battery[7]
Verdict: Buy Inspire 3 when value, comfort and battery matter more than onboard GPS, payments or advanced sensors.
3. Google Fitbit Air — best screenless Fitbit
See Fitbit Air on Google’s comparison page
Buy it for: quiet, lightweight, app-first tracking without a wrist display or notification stream.
Air is a different product proposition, not a cheaper Charge 6. It is designed to collect activity, sleep and wellness data continuously while you review results in the Google Health app. The screenless design can be comfortable overnight and useful for people who find wrist screens distracting. Independent comparison coverage reports approximately seven days of battery life.
There is no display, built-in GPS or contactless payment. Workout control is limited: testing reported that only five activities can be auto-tracked by the device, while other sessions require starting them in the app. You must carry a phone for GPS and live information.

Check Versa 4 availability on Google’s comparison page
Buy it for: a watch-shaped Fitbit with built-in GPS and a larger display, provided the price is clearly below a comparable Pixel Watch.
Recommended Free Tools
Versa 4 offers core heart-rate, sleep and workout tracking, built-in GPS, Google Maps and Google Wallet, and compatibility with iOS and Android. Its battery is listed at up to about six days, but GPS and an always-on display reduce that figure.
Best Value
- Inspire 3 is the tracker that helps you find your energy, do what you love and feel your best – all you have to do is wear it;
- Compatible with Apple iOS 16.4 or higher and Android OS 11.0 or higher
- Move more: Stay motivated with a Daily Readiness Score, Active Zone Minutes, all-day activity tracking and 24/7 heart rate, 40+ exercise modes, automatic exercise tracking, and reminders to move
- Stress less: Keep an eye on your well-being with a daily Stress Management Score, mindfulness sessions, relax breathing sessions, irregular heart rhythm notifications, SpO2, menstrual health tracking, resting heart rate, and more[1,2]
- Sleep better: Automatic sleep tracking, a daily detailed Sleep Score, smart wake vibrating alarm, and sleep mode help you improve your sleep quality[3]
It lacks the Charge 6 and Sense 2’s ECG and EDA sensors. Compared with earlier Versa models, music controls and third-party app support were reduced, and Google Assistant support ended for the Versa and Sense lines in early 2025 according to current coverage. It is an aging product in a Fitbit smartwatch category Google has deprioritized.
Verdict: Buy Versa 4 only when you specifically need a larger Fitbit screen and find a meaningful clearance discount. At a normal smartwatch price, Pixel Watch is the safer long-term platform.
Quick answers
- Best Fitbit for running: Charge 6. Versa 4 is the larger-screen alternative; Inspire 3 and Air require your phone.
- Best for sleep: Inspire 3 for value, or Air for the least distracting continuous wear. No model should be assumed medically superior without a specific validation study.
- Longest advertised battery: Inspire 3, up to 10 days.
- Fitbit with ECG: Charge 6 (and Sense 2), where the feature is approved and available.
- Best large-screen Fitbit: Versa 4, but only at a discount.
What about Fitbit Sense 2?
Sense 2 still has ECG, EDA-based stress sensing, skin-temperature tracking and built-in GPS. Its limited apps and communications, age and uncertain long-term smartwatch direction make it a conditional buy rather than the premium default. Consider it only when substantially discounted and those specific sensors matter. If you want a developing Google smartwatch platform, compare a Pixel Watch instead.

Fitbit or Pixel Watch?
Choose a Fitbit tracker for lighter hardware, longer battery life and simpler wellness tracking. Choose a Pixel Watch 4 if you want Wear OS apps, calls and messages, broader Google services and a richer smartwatch experience; expect more frequent charging. Pixel Watch 4 is the strongest way to get Fitbit-powered health features in a Google smartwatch, but it is not a Fitbit-branded model.
Buying and safety checks
- Verify the sale: For Versa 4 or Sense 2, check whether stock is new, refurbished or used, the seller, battery condition, return window and replacement-band and charger availability.
- Confirm compatibility: Charge 6 and Versa 4 support Android and iOS, but notifications, calling and Google services may differ by operating system.
- Separate ownership from subscriptions: Basic tracking does not make the hardware unusable without Premium. Check the current trial length, renewal price and cancellation terms.
- Interpret health features carefully: ECG and irregular-rhythm alerts are not diagnoses; SpO₂ and skin-temperature readings are wellness metrics. Seek medical care for symptoms rather than relying on a wearable.
- Remember water limits: “Water resistant to 50 metres” is not “waterproof.” Follow the model’s care instructions.
- Check future-proofing: Google has indicated that new Fitbit devices are expected in 2026, but models, dates, specifications and prices are not confirmed here. Do not pay a premium for an older watch based on rumors.
For structured running, navigation and advanced training analytics, compare Garmin or Coros. iPhone owners seeking the deepest communications and app integration should also consider Apple Watch; Android users may prefer Samsung Galaxy Watch.
