The round Amazfit Active 2 arrived in Europe in February 2025, with launch coverage reporting a promotional €99 price for the standard model. It is not a new 2026 launch. The headline specs are real, but conditional: the screen reaches up to 2,000 nits only with automatic brightness enabled and battery above 30%, the 10-day estimate comes from Amazfit’s specified test profile, and offline maps support downloaded map areas and planned routes—not arbitrary destination routing.
Which Active 2 is the €99 model?
The headline refers to the round Active 2. Amazfit announced it on January 6, 2025, with global availability planned for February; Spanish launch coverage reported its European arrival on February 20, 2025. The €99 figure was a promotional launch price for the standard version, not a universal current price. Amazfit’s announcement and Spanish launch coverage document that timing and pricing.

The Square model was introduced on June 17, 2025. It is a distinct design, not a screen option for the round watch. Its official specifications include up to 10 days of typical battery life, up to five days under heavy use, and up to 21 hours of continuous GPS use. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent measures of screen, GPS, heart-rate, or sleep performance. The official European product page lists the round model’s specifications and usage conditions.

What the 2,000-nit display claim means
The round model’s 1.32-inch AMOLED has a 466 × 466 resolution and a stated peak brightness of up to 2,000 nits. That is a maximum, not a brightness level the screen is guaranteed to sustain in every setting. Amazfit says automatic brightness must be enabled to reach the peak, and the 2,000-nit mode is unavailable below 30% battery.
AMOLED gives the watch a high-contrast screen and supports vivid faces. The Premium’s sapphire glass is a different benefit: it offers greater scratch resistance, not a proven improvement in outdoor readability. Neither material nor brightness spec establishes the polish of the watch’s software or its notification and app experience.
How to interpret the 10-day battery estimate
Amazfit rates the 270-mAh round Active 2 for up to 10 days under a “typical use” profile. Its stated profile includes all-day wear, heart-rate checks every 10 minutes, sleep tracking, five blood-oxygen measurements per day, a static watch face, 150 pushed messages daily, 30 minutes of Bluetooth calls per week, three call notifications daily, 100 raise-to-wake activations daily, five minutes of bright-screen use each day, and three 30-minute GPS workouts per week. The Premium profile also includes four weekly Zepp Pay uses.

This is a manufacturer test estimate, not a guarantee for every owner. Always-on display, longer or more frequent GPS sessions, frequent screen use, Bluetooth calling, higher brightness, and more intensive health measurements can shorten runtime. Battery Saver is rated for up to 19 days, but it disables or restricts functions including GPS, several health measurements, full Bluetooth behavior, and raise-to-wake. What offline maps and route guidance can—and cannot—do
You can download map areas to the watch and follow an imported route during a supported outdoor workout. That makes the feature useful for a route planned in advance, but it is not a full map service that calculates directions to any destination you select on the watch. The downloaded map must cover your actual location, and Amazfit’s manual limits turn-by-turn alerts to supported activities.
Download a map area
- Connect the watch to Wi-Fi.
- In Zepp, go to Device > Amazfit Active 2 (Round) > Device Application Settings > Map Management.
- Select the map area and add it to the device download list.
- Confirm the download on the watch.
- Start a GPS-enabled workout and open the map on the activity route page.
If the map does not appear, check that the relevant area is present under Settings > Map > Map Resources, that Settings > Map > Show Base Map is enabled, GPS positioning has completed, and your location falls inside the downloaded area. If a transfer stalls, Amazfit recommends trying a different network environment; keep the watch on Wi-Fi and Zepp available until transfer finishes. Import and follow a route
The manual describes importing GPX, TCX, and KML track files through Zepp. Open the track file in the app, save it, send it to the device, then on the watch open a supported workout and choose Navigation > My Route. Select the route and start navigation. A downloaded base map alone does not create a route to a chosen destination; route import, map coverage, a supported workout, and GPS positioning are separate requirements. GPS, workouts, and health tracking
Built-in GPS means you can record an outdoor workout without carrying a phone for positioning. The watch supports five satellite systems and circularly polarized antenna technology, and Amazfit lists more than 160 workout modes, including HYROX Race mode. A large mode count describes availability, not the depth of training analysis or the accuracy of a sensor. GPS use also consumes more battery than the manufacturer’s light-use profile.
The Active 2 includes heart-rate, sleep, blood-oxygen and stress-related features, plus Zepp Coach guidance, Bluetooth calling, notifications, and Zepp Flow voice control. These are wellness and fitness tools, not medical diagnosis. Readings can vary with fit and skin contact, movement, exercise intensity, tattoos, temperature, and app or firmware behavior; they should not be treated as clinically equivalent to medical devices. No independent accuracy conclusion follows from the feature list.

Zepp Pay is limited to the Premium/NFC version
The €99 standard configuration should not be assumed to include contactless payments. Zepp Pay is tied to the Premium/NFC edition and depends on country and supported card arrangements. Amazfit’s NFC manual lists availability across 31 EMEA countries and specifies Mastercard setup; availability in a listed country does not mean every bank or card works. Confirm support for your country and card before paying extra, especially when buying an imported model.
For setup, the watch must have off-wrist lock and a password enabled, and the card must be activated in Zepp Pay. The NFC manual lists countries and payment instructions.
Phone compatibility and setup
For the round model, Amazfit support lists Android 7.0 or later and iOS 14.0 or later; requirements can differ for the Square edition, whose product information lists iOS 15.0 or later. The Zepp app is required for pairing, synchronization, settings, map downloads, and route transfer. Install Zepp, sign in or create an account, and follow the in-app pairing process rather than pairing first from the phone’s Bluetooth settings. If phone notifications stop, Android may have revoked Zepp notification permission or restricted its background activity. Amazfit warns that terminating Zepp in the background can disrupt the connection and notification-related features.
Is the Amazfit Active 2 right for you?
- Choose the standard round model if low cost, AMOLED, built-in GPS, route following, and everyday health and workout features matter more than NFC or sapphire glass.
- Consider Premium/NFC if you value sapphire protection, the included straps, and Zepp Pay—and have confirmed your country and card are supported. Its value is not a brighter-screen guarantee.
- Consider the Square if you prefer a larger rectangular display, while checking its own dimensions, specifications, and local price rather than carrying over the round model’s launch deal.
- Look beyond Amazfit if you need cellular service, a deep smartwatch app ecosystem, highly developed structured training or external-sensor support, medical-grade monitoring, or arbitrary turn-by-turn destination navigation. Buyers focused on advanced sports-watch tools should compare Garmin and Coros on those specific needs rather than infer parity from workout count.
For hikers, the watch is best understood as a route-following fitness device: download the matching map area and transfer a planned route before setting out. It is not a replacement for phone navigation when you need to improvise a destination.
