Amazfit announced the round Active 2 at CES on January 6, 2025, with US prices starting at $99.99 for the standard model and $129.99 for Premium. Its pitch is still compelling for the money: an AMOLED screen, built-in GPS, downloadable offline maps, broad workout tracking and manufacturer-rated battery life of up to 10 days. In 2026, though, it is a value-oriented older model—not a new launch—and its Zepp software is a more limited smartwatch platform than watchOS or Wear OS.
What launched—and what it costs
The product announced at CES 2025 was the round Amazfit Active 2. The original Active had a squarer design; the Active 2 brought a traditional round face and stainless-steel bezel. Amazfit opened US preorders at launch and said broader global availability was planned for February 2025. The later Active 2 Square is a separate model, introduced in June 2025, not another name for the original round watch.
At launch, the standard round Active 2 was $99.99 in the US and Premium was $129.99. Amazfit’s US listing still shows a $99.99–$129.99 range, depending on version. Prices, availability, taxes and shipping can vary by seller and location, so check the listing before buying. The charging base is included, but a USB-C cable is not. The listed sensors include BioTracker 6.0 PPG, an accelerometer, gyroscope, geomagnetic sensor, barometric altimeter, ambient-light sensor and temperature sensor. Amazfit’s detailed US product specifications are the source for the measurements and battery estimates.

For most buyers, the choice is about materials: sapphire glass is more scratch-resistant than the standard model’s tempered glass, and Premium includes a leather strap as well as a silicone one. Choose Standard to keep the price down; consider Premium if the glass upgrade and straps justify the difference for you.
Important: Premium does not mean guaranteed contactless payments. Amazfit documents a separate Active 2 NFC model, and Zepp Pay is limited by region and eligible cards. The NFC manual lists supported EMEA countries; it does not establish that the standard US models support payments. Before buying for NFC, confirm the exact model, your country, the service’s availability and your card’s eligibility. Fitness, health and GPS features
The Active 2 tracks heart rate, blood oxygen, stress, sleep, HRV and readiness-related insights through its optical sensor and Zepp software. It includes sleep and recovery guidance, automatic recognition for selected activities and strength movements, and 164 listed sports modes. Running tools include track mode, a virtual pacer and trajectory correction; the barometric altimeter supports elevation data. Amazfit also lists ski features, a HYROX race mode, Zepp Coach training plans and Wild.AI integration for menstrual-cycle and hormonal wellness insights.
Amazfit describes its PulsePrecision heart-rate and RestoreIQ sleep algorithms as accuracy improvements. Those are the company’s claims, not independent validation of medical-grade results. Treat heart-rate, SpO₂, sleep, stress, readiness and cycle information as wellness estimates for fitness and personal reference—not as diagnosis or treatment advice.
The watch has its own satellite-positioning hardware, and supports downloadable maps and route guidance. Maps must be prepared through the phone rather than streamed live over a cellular connection. To add one, open the Zepp app > Device > Amazfit Active 2 NFC (Round), where applicable > Device Application Settings > Map Management, choose an area and add it to the download task. Confirm the transfer on the watch, then start a GPS workout to view the map or route. Amazfit says turn-by-turn directions and audible guidance are available through the watch speaker or connected Bluetooth headphones. See its map instructions for the documented workflow.

Offline maps are useful for routes and areas downloaded in advance, but they are not unlimited, always-online navigation. If a map does not appear, check that the right watch variant is selected in Zepp, the area finished downloading, the watch is synced and the activity uses GPS. Updating the app or watch software may also help.
Battery life: up to 10 days, with trade-offs
Amazfit rates the round Active 2 for up to 10 days in typical use, 19 days in battery-saver mode, five days under heavy use and 21 hours of continuous GPS. The company estimates a full charge takes about two hours. These are manufacturer figures, not a promise for every wearer; GPS sessions, frequent screen activation, always-on display, calls, notifications and health-monitoring settings can all shorten runtime.
The 19-day battery-saver figure is not equivalent to normal use. Amazfit says the mode turns off or restricts functions, including GPS and several health-monitoring features. If your watch falls well short of 10 days, review GPS use, screen wake and display settings, call frequency, notification volume and monitoring intervals before comparing your results with the typical-use estimate.

Phone compatibility, calls and setup
The watch works with phones running Android 7.0 or later or iOS 14.0 or later, and requires the Zepp app for pairing, syncing and configuration. Install or update Zepp, sign in or create an account, turn on the watch to display its pairing QR code, then scan it in the app. Do not begin by pairing directly from the phone’s Bluetooth settings. The official pairing guide covers setup and switching phones.
Bluetooth calls and texts are supported, but feature support differs by phone: quick replies are listed as Android-only, while camera control is listed as iOS-only. The watch can control music playing on the phone, but you cannot install third-party music apps directly on it. Zepp Flow voice-control availability varies by country and region.

What it does not do—and who should buy it
The core Zepp app is advertised as free, with no hidden subscription required for basic watch use. That does not make every optional service free: products such as Zepp Aura may be offered separately, and availability for features such as Zepp Flow varies. The watch also lacks the broader third-party app ecosystem of watchOS and Wear OS, and there is no cellular connection independent of your phone.
- Good fit: Buyers who want a round watch, built-in GPS, downloadable maps, broad exercise tracking, long manufacturer-rated battery life and basic notifications at a relatively low price.
- Less suitable: People who need cellular service, a large app library, advanced smartwatch productivity, close Apple ecosystem integration, dependable payments in their region or medical-grade monitoring.
In 2026, the Active 2 is no longer the newest model in the line. Amazfit expanded the family with the Active 2 Square in June 2025, and newer products such as the Active 3 Premium have since appeared. The round Active 2 can still make sense at its listed US starting price if its specific strengths match your needs, but it is worth comparing the newer models before deciding. Buyers who prioritize platform integration might also compare an Apple Watch or Google Pixel Watch; runners focused on training features may prefer to explore Garmin’s Forerunner range. Prices for those alternatives are not stated here because they vary and have not been verified for this comparison.
