Verdict: The Amazfit GTR 3 Pro still makes sense if you want a light, traditional-looking round smartwatch with a sharp AMOLED screen, built-in GPS, Bluetooth calls and long battery life—and can get it well below the cost of newer Amazfit models. Its age, limited app ecosystem and uncertain future update support make it a poor buy at anything near current-generation prices. Treat its health readings as wellness estimates, not medical measurements.
As of August 2026, the GTR 3 Pro is not shown among the models on Amazfit’s visible U.S. software-update roadmap. That does not prove the watch is discontinued or will receive no more updates, but buyers should regard it as older stock or a used/refurbished option rather than a current-generation watch.
What the GTR 3 Pro is
Launched as the more premium sibling to the standard GTR 3, the GTR 3 Pro combines a conventional round-watch look with a large AMOLED display and everyday smartwatch features. Its aluminum case measures 46 × 46 × 10.7 mm and weighs 32 g without the strap. A rotating crown provides a convenient way to scroll alongside the touchscreen. Amazfit offered black and brown-leather versions, and the watch takes standard 22 mm quick-release straps.
The proportions and low case weight make it appealing as an everyday watch, but 46 mm is still a large diameter on a small wrist. The leather strap looks more formal; for workouts and swimming, a suitable fluoroelastomer strap is the more practical choice. The product page specifies tempered glass with an anti-fingerprint coating, not sapphire glass. It is not a rugged outdoor watch, and its 5 ATM water-resistance rating is not scuba-diving certification.

Display: still a major strength
The 1.45-inch, 480 × 480 AMOLED panel is one of the best reasons to consider this watch. Its pixel density is 331 ppi, and AMOLED’s deep blacks and vivid colors suit watch faces well. Amazfit also offers an always-on display. A contemporary Wareable review praised the panel’s color and contrast, while describing brightness as good rather than class-leading.
That is not the same as a current outdoor-focused display test. If you run or hike in strong sunlight, compare the GTR 3 Pro with newer outdoor models rather than assuming the older screen is equally bright or durable. The official listing confirms tempered glass, not a premium sapphire cover.

Amazfit rates the 450 mAh battery for up to 12 days in typical use, up to 6 days with heavy use, up to 30 days in battery-saver mode and up to 35 hours of continuous GPS. It quotes about two hours for a full charge. These are best-case manufacturer estimates; they are not a current independent test result.
Always-on display, frequent GPS workouts, high brightness, animated watch faces, frequent notifications, Bluetooth calling, music playback and continuous health monitoring can all reduce runtime. If battery life disappoints, try disabling always-on display, reducing health-sampling frequency and brightness, choosing a static face, limiting notifications and restarting after updates. A substantially degraded battery is also a real risk on old stock and used units. Ask about battery condition and a return policy rather than relying on the original 12-day claim.

Health tracking: useful trends, not medical answers
The GTR 3 Pro uses a BioTracker 3.0 PPG sensor (6PD + 2LED) alongside motion, geomagnetic, barometric, ambient-light and temperature sensors. Its advertised wellness features include heart rate, blood oxygen (SpO₂), stress, breathing rate, sleep, skin temperature, steps, activity and a PAI health score. It also offers menstrual-cycle tracking, heart-rate alerts and a one-tap measurement that combines heart rate, SpO₂, stress and breathing rate in about 45 seconds.
These features can help you follow broad patterns, but they are estimates—not diagnoses. Optical readings depend on fit and skin contact and may be affected by movement, tattoos, hair and exercise intensity. A wrist temperature reading is not core body temperature, and an SpO₂ result should not be used to diagnose an illness. Wareable’s review raised concerns about measurement reliability and noted that the features were not approved by regulatory bodies for serious medical insight. If readings conflict with how you feel or with a medical device, do not use the watch to make a care decision; seek appropriate medical advice for persistent symptoms.

Fitness, sports modes and GPS
Amazfit advertises more than 150 sports modes, automatic recognition for eight activities, swimming modes for pools and open water, and workout analysis through PeakBeats. The watch has built-in positioning across five satellite systems: GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou and QZSS. It also includes a barometric altimeter.
A large mode count is not the same as 150 deeply specialized training profiles. Many modes may mainly log duration, heart rate, calories and movement. For casual walks, runs and general activity tracking, the breadth is useful. For structured training, evaluate whether the watch and Zepp App provide the training-load, recovery, route, sensor and export tools you actually need. The GTR 3 Pro lacks the newer training and navigation capabilities found on current premium outdoor watches.
Five satellite systems and a 35-hour GPS claim are specifications, not proof of route accuracy. Real-world results depend on satellite lock, buildings, tree cover, turns and how the watch is worn. The supplied evidence does not establish current GPS accuracy or acquisition time in different conditions, so do not buy it on an assumption that the track will match a newer watch. It is better considered a recorder of workout location than a modern route-navigation device.

Its 5 ATM rating supports ordinary swimming-related use according to Amazfit’s product material, but it does not make the watch suitable for scuba diving. Avoid treating water resistance as permanent: case damage or wear can change it, and do not rely on the rating for high-pressure water or hot tubs.
Smartwatch features: handy basics, not a full app platform
The watch can show phone notifications and incoming-call alerts, and its built-in microphone and speaker allow Bluetooth calls when it is connected to your phone. It advertises music storage and playback; capacity can vary by regional edition, so confirm the exact version if storage is essential. Other basics include weather, alarms, timers, find-phone functionality, watch faces and a mini-app ecosystem.
Alexa is an online assistant, so availability depends on country, language, account region, connection and phone/internet conditions. There is also a separate offline voice assistant for a limited set of basic commands; Amazfit lists Chinese, English, Spanish and German for offline commands. Neither feature should be confused with full Siri or Google Assistant integration, and offline control is not a substitute for Alexa’s broader online capabilities.
Notification display is not the same as full messaging or app interaction. Android users generally have more notification-interaction options than iPhone users, but the experience remains more limited than Apple Watch or Wear OS. If you want a large third-party app catalog, rich replies or deep phone-service integration, this is the wrong platform.
Zepp OS, app and support outlook
Zepp OS and the Zepp App are the center of the experience: the app handles setup, health dashboards, workout history, watch-face downloads and device settings. The watch combines touch navigation with the rotating crown, and the software offers more than the bare minimum of watch faces and small apps. A contemporary Wareable review found the software feature-rich but buggy and argued that it did not deliver the full promise of a complete smartwatch operating system.

That assessment reflects a review of the product generation, not a claim about every current firmware build. Still, the closed ecosystem is a meaningful trade-off: the selection and depth of apps, notification handling, third-party services and training analysis are more constrained than on Apple Watch or Wear OS. Amazfit’s current U.S. update page does not visibly list the GTR 3 Pro among the roadmap devices. This is a support-visibility warning, not proof that no update will ever arrive.

Amazfit’s original specifications list Android 7.0 or later and iOS 12.0 or later, with the Zepp App required. Since those minimums date from the product’s launch era, check the current app listing and your phone’s operating system before purchasing an older or regional unit. Keep the Zepp App updated, grant Bluetooth and notification permissions, and allow it to run in the background if your phone restricts background activity. Start pairing through the Zepp App rather than relying only on the phone’s Bluetooth settings.
If changing phones, the official manual advises synchronizing data, unpairing the old phone, then restoring factory settings before pairing with the new one. This can prevent a watch from remaining tied to the previous phone. Calls also require the watch to stay connected to the phone over Bluetooth.
Should you buy it instead of a newer Amazfit?
The relevant question in 2026 is not whether the GTR 3 Pro had an appealing feature list at launch; it is whether its design and display justify choosing older hardware over current alternatives. Amazfit’s current U.S. pages highlight newer models including the Balance 2, Active 2, T-Rex 3 and T-Rex 3 Pro. The GTR 3 Pro is not visible on the current update roadmap, so consider it old stock, regional stock or a used/refurbished purchase—not a current flagship. This is an inference from the visible catalog and roadmap, not an official discontinuation announcement.

The T-Rex prices above are dated price signals, not guarantees of current offers. See Amazfit’s U.S. range collection and T-Rex 3 Pro page for current listings. Apple Watch is the more natural comparison for iPhone users who want richer apps, messaging and phone integration, but it does not work with Android and generally needs more frequent charging. Wear OS is a better fit for Google services and third-party apps, usually with shorter battery life. Garmin suits training-focused buyers who value sports tools and recovery data over a broad app and voice-assistant experience. Those are platform-level trade-offs, not direct model-by-model test results.
Who should buy the GTR 3 Pro?
- Buy it if you find it substantially cheaper than newer midrange Amazfit watches, prefer a classic round design, and want a bright-looking AMOLED screen, basic activity tracking, GPS, calls and music storage.
- It may suit you if battery life matters more than app depth, you are comfortable with the Zepp ecosystem, and you accept that long-term software support is uncertain.
- Skip it if it costs close to a newer Amazfit, you need extensive app integration or message replies, or you want advanced navigation, training analytics, medical-grade data or long-term update assurance.
- Do not buy a questionable listing without checking the exact regional version, charger, battery condition, screen, crown, speaker and microphone, GPS lock, return policy and warranty. Confirm that the Zepp App supports your phone and that the version offers the language and Alexa features you want.
There is no verified current official U.S. GTR 3 Pro price to use as a fair-price benchmark. A strong deal means meaningfully below current midrange Amazfit pricing, ideally with a warranty or reliable returns. If the listing approaches current-generation prices, choose the newer watch unless you have a specific preference for the GTR 3 Pro’s design.
