The Amazfit GTR 4 New is a real India-market launch, introduced in early September 2024 at ₹16,999. Amazfit later listed it at ₹14,999, though the indexed official-store listing showed it as sold out. The key point for buyers: “New” describes a regional refresh, not clear evidence of a full next-generation successor to the GTR 4 that launched globally in 2022.
Amazfit GTR 4 New launch date, price and availability
Amazfit launched the GTR 4 New in India in early September 2024. The launch price was ₹16,999, and the initial sales channels included Amazfit India and Amazon. A later listing in Amazfit India’s official product collection showed ₹14,999, against a displayed comparison price of ₹23,999, but the listing was marked sold out. Treat ₹16,999 as the launch price and ₹14,999 as a later observed listing price—not as a guaranteed current price or evidence of present stock.
The verified launch was for India. The available official material does not establish a US launch, so buyers elsewhere should not assume that a marketplace import has local warranty, regional support or the same firmware. The New retains the GTR 4’s broad round-watch, fitness-and-GPS proposition. Its India launch description emphasizes finishes and feature packaging, but does not establish a wholesale change to the underlying generation. Amazfit GTR 4 New specifications
Some published specifications differ between the India launch material, launch reports and official pages for the original GTR 4. The table labels the source of each figure rather than treating every GTR 4-family claim as interchangeable.

Fitness tracking and GPS
The GTR 4 New is aimed at people who want a traditional-looking watch with a broad exercise menu. Its advertised 150-plus sports modes include automatic recognition for selected sports and strength-training exercises. PeakBeats workout analysis, route-file import and navigation, track-run mode and smart trajectory correction are also part of the feature set described for the model. Strava and adidas Running integration is subject to regional and app support.
The original GTR 4’s dual-band, circularly polarized GPS antenna and support for multiple satellite positioning systems are part of the family’s appeal for outdoor workouts. GPS results still depend on satellite visibility, buildings, route type, firmware and the device used for comparison. Amazfit’s “up to 99% as accurate as top handheld GPS locators” wording is its own claim, not a promise that every run will match a handheld receiver.
Health and sleep
Launch materials describe heart-rate, blood-oxygen, stress, sleep and nap tracking, plus a one-tap measurement that combines several wellness metrics. These readings can help users follow trends, but a wrist wearable is not a clinical diagnostic device. Do not use it as a substitute for medical advice or appropriate equipment if a health reading is concerning.

Calls, music and voice assistants
The watch supports Bluetooth calling through its built-in microphone and speaker when connected to a compatible phone. It also offers music storage and playback from the watch, phone music controls, Amazon Alexa and offline voice-assistant functions as described in the India launch material. These are useful conveniences, but Bluetooth calling remains dependent on a paired phone nearby; it does not make the watch an independent cellular device. Notifications, Android reply options, apps and assistant functions can vary by phone, software version and region.

Battery life
Battery claims are one of the clearest reasons not to mix GTR 4-family specifications. India launch reports quote up to 12 days of typical use for the New, while Amazfit’s 2022 announcement quoted up to 14 days for the original GTR 4. Both are maximum manufacturer-style usage claims, not guaranteed runtimes. Always-on display, frequent GPS workouts, Bluetooth calls, music playback, health monitoring and notification volume can shorten endurance substantially.

The main verifiable change is the later India-market product positioning and its specified finishes—Galaxy Black and Brown Leather—rather than a clearly documented next-generation hardware platform. The launch descriptions retain a similar design concept and overlapping core strengths: AMOLED screen, GPS, sports modes, health tracking and smart features.

- Design: The New has India-specific finish options and a launch description featuring a metallic frame, steel crown and glass-ceramic rear panel. The Limited Edition is the explicitly premium design variant.
- Display and battery: New-version reporting varies between 1.43 and 1.45 inches and quotes up to 12 days; the original’s official specification is 1.43 inches and its original launch claim was up to 14 days. These differences do not establish a meaningful upgrade.
- Software: India launch material says Zepp OS 2.0. The original received announcements for later Zepp OS 3.0 and 3.5 updates. Verify firmware for the exact New unit instead of assuming identical update eligibility.
- New features: Many prominent functions are part of the GTR 4 platform rather than proven additions exclusive to the New. The available evidence does not support treating it as a full successor.
Owners of a working original GTR 4 have little reason to upgrade solely because of the word “New.” Consider switching only if the finish, regional availability, condition or a substantially better price matters to you—and first confirm whether the New’s firmware offers a feature you specifically need.
GTR 4 New vs. GTR 4 Limited Edition
The Limited Edition’s distinction is primarily its more premium physical treatment, including a stainless-steel crown and glass-ceramic rear panel, and its 2023 launch price starting at $249.99. The GTR 4 New’s India launch was ₹16,999 and it was marketed in Galaxy Black and Brown Leather finishes. These launches targeted different markets and price contexts, so the original US Limited Edition price is not a direct India price comparison.

If appearance and materials are the priority, compare the exact finish and condition of both listings. If the Limited Edition costs substantially more, the available launch information does not establish a corresponding fitness or software advantage that would automatically justify the premium.
Should you buy the Amazfit GTR 4 New?
- At or below the later ₹14,999 listing: It may be worthwhile for an India buyer who wants round-watch styling, GPS, many workout modes, Bluetooth calls and long claimed battery life—provided genuine stock, warranty and firmware are confirmed.
- Near its ₹16,999 launch price: Compare it with newer Amazfit watches before purchasing. The official India collection showed the Balance 2 at ₹24,999 and the T-Rex 3 at ₹19,999 in indexed listings, though those listings were also shown sold out. These are price references, not confirmation of current stock; the Balance 2 is positioned as a newer alternative, while the T-Rex 3 suits buyers seeking a tougher outdoor design.
- Choosing between New and a discounted original GTR 4: Compare the actual regional SKU, software version, warranty, condition and price. Do not pay extra on the assumption that the newer name guarantees newer internals or longer support.
- Buying an import or marketplace listing: Ask which regional model it is, what firmware and warranty apply, and whether the seller provides local support. A listing is not equivalent to authorized local availability.
- Need LTE, extensive third-party apps or assured long-term updates? This is not an obvious fit; the researched material does not establish cellular connectivity or a guaranteed support horizon.
The New makes most sense as a discounted, verified India-market watch for buyers who value battery, GPS and conventional styling more than the newest software platform. At full launch price, or where support and stock are unclear, compare newer alternatives first.
Before you buy: four checks
- Confirm stock and price. The ₹14,999 official listing was marked sold out in indexed pages. Retail availability and prices can change; check the seller at the point of purchase.
- Confirm region and warranty. Prioritize Amazfit India or an authorized retailer for local warranty and support. Be cautious of imports with unclear regional software or returns.
- Check firmware on the exact unit. The India launch page says Zepp OS 2.0, while later updates for the original GTR 4 document newer features. Do not assume Zepp Flow, Readiness, HRV features or later software are included on every New unit.
- Use the right health and GPS expectations. Health readings are wellness estimates; GPS accuracy varies by conditions. Neither should be treated as a medical guarantee or universal performance benchmark.
For context, Amazfit documented Zepp OS 3.0 and 3.5 updates for the original GTR 4 on separate pages: Zepp OS 3.0 update and Zepp OS 3.5 update. Those announcements should not be read as proof that every GTR 4 New has the same firmware or update path.
