The Amazfit GTR 4 New Version was a real product, but it is no longer an upcoming launch. Amazfit teased the smartwatch in India on August 27–28, 2024, and launched it on September 4, 2024. It arrived with a 1.45-inch AMOLED display, dual-band GPS, Bluetooth calling, health tracking and more than 150 sports modes.
The key buying question in 2026 is not whether the teaser was genuine, but whether this 2024 refresh is still worth buying at the price and stock level you can actually find.
Price and availability in India
The Amazfit GTR 4 New launched in India at ₹16,999. It was offered in two variants: Galaxy Black with a silicone or fluoroelastomer strap, and Brown Leather.

A later Amazfit India catalogue listing showed ₹14,999 against an original listed price of ₹23,999, but the product was marked sold out in the captured listing. The dedicated product URL has also returned a 404. That makes ₹14,999 a historical catalogue price signal—not a guaranteed current purchase price.

If you find a listing, check that it is the GTR 4 New Version, rather than the original GTR 4 or GTR 4 Limited Edition. Also verify the seller, India warranty, return terms and model name before paying.

Specifications are attributed to launch reports from FoneArena and Gadgets360. The conflicting battery-capacity figures should not be silently treated as one confirmed number.
What was teased—and what actually launched?
Amazfit’s India teaser described the watch as “coming soon” and highlighted a 1.45-inch AMOLED display, always-on display support, more than 200 watch faces, over 150 sports modes and automatic recognition of eight sports. It also promoted strength-training recognition, live sports-data broadcasting, dual-band GPS, Bluetooth calling, heart-rate and SpO₂ monitoring, stress and sleep tracking, Amazon Alexa and an offline voice assistant.

The teaser appeared in late August 2024, with launch coverage following on September 4–5. The important correction for readers finding the original news today is simple: the GTR 4 New is a launched 2024 model, not a smartwatch that is still awaiting release.
Display and design
The main visual change is a slightly larger 1.45-inch circular AMOLED display, compared with the commonly reported 1.43-inch panel on the original GTR 4. The watch has a stainless-steel middle frame, a glass-ceramic bottom shell and a physical crown/navigation control.

At 46.5mm wide, it is a large watch. That should suit buyers who prefer a traditional oversized watch design, but it may feel bulky on smaller wrists. The Brown Leather version is better suited to formal styling; the black silicone or fluoroelastomer option is the more practical choice for sweat-heavy workouts.
One Amazfit India page has displayed 1.43 inches, which conflicts with the 1.45-inch figure consistently reported in the teaser and launch coverage. The 1.43-inch entry appears stale or associated with the older GTR 4 specification, so buyers should treat the launch-reported 1.45-inch figure as the relevant specification for the New Version.

GPS: useful built-in tracking, not a guarantee of perfect routes
The watch has built-in GPS, so it can record outdoor walks, runs, rides and hikes without carrying a phone for route recording. Dual-band positioning and six satellite systems are intended to improve location tracking, particularly where buildings, trees or other obstructions make positioning difficult.
That does not mean every route will be perfectly accurate. First-lock time and track quality can vary with buildings, tree cover, satellite visibility, weather, firmware and the selected activity mode. Claims such as “unrivaled” or exceptionally precise positioning are Amazfit marketing claims, not a substitute for independent testing.
Battery life also changes substantially when GPS is active. Gadgets360 reported up to 28 hours in GPS mode, far below the headline smartwatch endurance figure.

Bluetooth calling and music
Bluetooth calling uses the watch’s microphone and speaker, allowing you to handle calls from the wrist when the watch is paired with a compatible smartphone. It is not an LTE or cellular smartwatch and cannot replace a phone for normal calling.
Setup may require pairing through the Zepp app, granting call and contact permissions, and enabling the appropriate Bluetooth calling profile on the phone. Compatibility can vary by phone and operating system.
The 2.3GB of storage supports local music playback, with launch reports estimating space for roughly 270–470 MP3 tracks. This is separate from calling: stored music can play independently, but Bluetooth calls still require the paired phone. Local storage also does not automatically mean support for every music-streaming service.
Fitness and health features
The GTR 4 New supports:

- Blood-oxygen measurement
- Stress monitoring
- Sleep and daytime-nap tracking
- More than 150 sports modes
- Automatic recognition of eight sports
- Strength-training recognition
- PeakBeats workout analysis
- Track Run mode and live sports-data broadcasting
- Sync with Strava and adidas Running
These are wellness and fitness functions, not medical diagnostic tools. Heart-rate, SpO₂, stress and sleep readings can be affected by fit, movement, skin contact and other conditions. They should not replace medical advice or emergency monitoring.

Early Amazfit teaser material claimed up to 14 days of battery life. Later launch coverage gave a more useful figure: up to 12 days in typical use, eight days with heavy use and up to 28 hours using GPS.

The 12-day number is a claimed usage figure, not an independent test result. Always-on display, continuous health monitoring, notifications, Bluetooth calls, music playback and frequent GPS sessions will reduce endurance. Buyers should compare expected usage with the scenario rather than treating “up to 12 days” as a normal result for every configuration.
How it differs from the original GTR 4
The GTR 4 New should be viewed as a refresh rather than a wholly new generation. Reported changes include:
- A 1.45-inch display instead of the original GTR 4’s commonly reported 1.43-inch panel.
- An operational physical crown for navigation.
- Stainless-steel and glass-ceramic construction.
- Built-in Alexa and offline voice-assistant support.
- Bluetooth calling through an integrated microphone and speaker.
- Onboard storage for independent local music playback.
- Updated India-market variants and strap options.
The available launch reports do not establish that every internal component was redesigned. Existing GTR 4 owners should therefore upgrade only if the larger display, crown, calling hardware, construction or specific software features solve a real need.
Important specification conflicts
- Display: Teaser and launch coverage report 1.45 inches, while one Amazfit India page shows 1.43 inches.
- Battery life: Teaser material says up to 14 days; launch reporting says up to 12 days typical, eight days heavy and 28 hours GPS.
- Battery capacity: FoneArena lists 445mAh, while Gadgets360 lists 475mAh.
- Software: Teaser material mentions Zepp OS 2.0, while launch reporting lists Zepp OS 3.0. Current firmware may differ from both launch-era references.
- Price: ₹16,999 is the historical launch price; ₹14,999 was later shown in a catalogue listing that was marked sold out.
Who should buy the Amazfit GTR 4 New?
It may suit buyers who want a large, traditional round watch with built-in GPS, long claimed battery life, Bluetooth calling and a fitness-focused feature set. It is particularly appealing if you value endurance over the deeper third-party app ecosystems available on Apple Watch or Wear OS.
It is less suitable for buyers who need LTE calling, medically validated monitoring, extensive third-party apps or guaranteed long-term support for a current-generation platform. The 46.5mm case may also be too large for smaller wrists.
Before ordering, confirm:
- The seller is authorised and the listing names the GTR 4 New Version.
- India warranty and return coverage are included.
- The price is sensible for 2024 hardware and is not higher than newer Amazfit alternatives.
- The listing is in stock and is not confusing the New Version with the original GTR 4.
- You understand that calling requires a paired phone and that GPS battery life is much shorter than typical smartwatch use.
Amazfit’s current catalogue also includes newer lines such as the Active Max, T-Rex 3, Bip 6 and Active 3 Premium. Use the Amazfit India catalogue to compare current availability rather than assuming every model or price is still active.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: The Amazfit GTR 4 New was launched in India at ₹16,999 in September 2024. Its strengths are the large AMOLED display, built-in GPS, Bluetooth calling, local music storage and long claimed battery life. In 2026, buy it only after confirming genuine stock, India warranty and a price that reflects its older platform—not merely because a ₹14,999 catalogue discount appears online.
