Amazfit was reported to be testing a blood-pressure feature on the original Balance in 2024, after users in China, Malaysia and Brazil spotted it. That report described a limited test, not a global launch. The current U.S. product pages for the Balance and Balance 2 do not advertise built-in blood-pressure measurement, and the evidence does not establish that either watch can replace a validated cuff.
What Amazfit was reportedly testing
On March 25, 2024, Gizmochina reported that users had found a blood-pressure measurement feature on the original Amazfit Balance. The report was based on user sightings and a video demonstration, not an Amazfit launch announcement. It described the feature as appearing in China, Malaysia and Brazil; it did not establish a broad release or availability in other regions. Gizmochina’s report
The distinction matters: “testing” is not the same as “available on Amazfit watches.” The Balance was the model most clearly tied to the reported test. Later Amazfit support material refers to a blood-pressure mini-program for the Cheetah 2 Ultra, but that does not prove a standard feature across Amazfit’s watch range.

How the Balance test reportedly worked
In the demonstration described by Gizmochina, the user tightened the watch band, acknowledged a warning that the watch was not a certified medical device, rested an arm flat on a table and stayed still while a measurement took about 30 seconds. The watch then displayed systolic and diastolic figures and heart rate, with historical readings available in the watch app. These were steps shown in a reported test build, not confirmed instructions for every Balance or current Zepp software version. Calibration was a reported limitation
The same report suggested that users might need to calibrate the watch against a conventional cuff initially and repeat calibration periodically. It did not establish a universal calibration schedule or a final public setup procedure.
Amazfit support documentation for the Cheetah 2 Ultra separately says continuous blood-pressure measurement requires downloading a blood-pressure mini-program and performing calibration. Watch-based readings are different from using a Bluetooth cuff
Amazfit’s Zepp OS 3.5 update announcement lists a Bluetooth Blood Pressure Monitor mini-app and names the OMRON BP7350 and iHealth Track Blood Pressure Monitor as compatible external devices. In that case, the cuff measures blood pressure and Zepp provides an integration for its readings; it does not show that the watch itself measures pressure through its wrist sensors. What’s available on the Balance and Balance 2 now?
The current U.S. Amazfit Balance product page lists health features including heart rate, blood oxygen, stress, breathing rate, body composition and related alerts, but does not advertise built-in blood-pressure measurement. The page also describes a BioTracker 5.0 PPG sensor and a BIA body-composition sensor; their presence alone is not evidence that blood pressure can be measured accurately or that the reported test is enabled.
The current U.S. Balance 2 product page describes heart-rate, SpO₂, stress, sleep and other health functions, but does not advertise built-in blood-pressure monitoring. Amazfit says the Balance 2 and Zepp App are not medical devices and that their measurements are not intended for diagnosis or medical monitoring. Amazfit’s Balance 2 medical-device FAQ
That describes what the reviewed U.S. materials advertise; it does not rule out future firmware changes or regional software differences. The available evidence does not verify a broad Balance 2 rollout.

Can you trust a smartwatch blood-pressure number?
The reported Balance test included a non-medical-device warning. The available sources do not establish clinical validation, FDA clearance, CE certification or equivalence to a validated upper-arm cuff for the watch-based feature. Displaying systolic and diastolic numbers is not, by itself, evidence that those numbers are accurate enough for diagnosis or treatment decisions.

Blood-pressure readings can be affected by sensor design, fit, calibration, posture, movement and skin contact, as well as the algorithms used to turn sensor signals into estimates. A useful assessment also requires validation against a reference device across relevant users and pressure ranges. The reported need to stay still and possible cuff calibration are practical signs that the result depends on measurement conditions.
A wearable could make occasional trend checks more convenient and might prompt someone to take a proper cuff reading. But an apparently normal watch result should not override symptoms, repeated high readings from a validated monitor or advice from a clinician. Do not use a reported or non-medical watch feature to diagnose hypertension or adjust medication.

What to use if you need blood-pressure readings
For home monitoring that may inform a health decision, use a validated upper-arm blood-pressure monitor with the correct cuff size and follow its instructions for consistent readings. Discuss results with a clinician rather than treating one reading as a diagnosis. If you want readings in the Zepp ecosystem, Amazfit names the OMRON BP7350 and iHealth Track as devices supported by its Bluetooth monitor mini-app; check device and app compatibility for your region before relying on that integration. The compatibility listing does not, by itself, establish suitability for every user or validate a particular reading.
Seek urgent medical care for severe readings accompanied by concerning symptoms. For a single unexpectedly high result without such symptoms, repeat it under proper conditions with a validated cuff and follow clinical guidance rather than relying on the watch test.
