The headline referred to a real but historical Amazon promotion. On November 15, 2025, selected 46mm GPS aluminum models of the Apple Watch Series 10 fell from a cited $429 reference price to $279—a $150 reduction, or approximately 35%.
This was not a discount on every Apple Watch Series 10. The reported offer covered only specific 46mm GPS configurations, and the $279 price should not be treated as current without checking Amazon’s live listing.

MacRumors reported the promotion as an early Black Friday weekend deal and described $279 as the lowest price it had tracked for a 46mm GPS Apple Watch Series 10 at that point. That is a tracked-price claim, not an independently audited record of the lowest price ever offered by every retailer.

The discount calculation is straightforward: $429 − $279 = $150, and $150 ÷ $429 ≈ 34.97%. Calling it “massive” is headline language; mathematically, it was roughly a 35% reduction.

Which Apple Watch Series 10 models qualified?
The reported $279 price applied to these three configurations:
- 46mm Jet Black aluminum case with Black Sport Band
- 46mm Jet Black aluminum case with Ink Sport Loop
- 46mm Rose Gold aluminum case with Plum Sport Loop

What the deal did not include
The report did not establish an equivalent $150 reduction for:
- 42mm GPS models
- GPS + Cellular models
- Every color or band combination
- Stainless steel or other premium case configurations
- Used, renewed, open-box, or marketplace listings
In particular, the headline “Apple Watch Series 10” should not be read as meaning that the entire Series 10 range was available for $279. The key limitation was 46mm, GPS-only, aluminum.

How to verify an Amazon listing
- Open the listing and select 46mm.
- Choose GPS, not GPS + Cellular.
- Confirm the aluminum case color and the included band.
- Check that the condition is New, rather than renewed, used, or open-box.
- Review the seller and whether Amazon is handling fulfillment.
- Check the return terms, delivery estimate, taxes, shipping charges, and any membership requirement shown for your location.
- Confirm the final price immediately before placing the order.
Amazon product pages often group multiple sizes, finishes, bands, and connectivity types together. Changing even one option can remove the promotion or switch to a different seller.
Is the discounted Series 10 still worth buying?
It made sense at $279 for the right buyer
At the reported price, the 46mm GPS Series 10 offered a substantial saving against the cited $429 reference price. It was especially attractive for iPhone owners replacing an older Apple Watch who wanted a larger display but did not need cellular service.
The 46mm case also provides more display area than the 42mm version. That is useful for reading notifications and viewing information, but it is not automatically better for every wrist. Buyers who prefer a smaller or lighter watch should not choose the 46mm model merely because it was discounted.

A GPS Apple Watch is designed to work with an iPhone nearby for many connected functions. It is not the right choice for someone who wants to leave the iPhone behind while maintaining cellular calling, messaging, streaming, or connected features. Cellular service also brings carrier activation and a recurring plan cost, so it should be evaluated separately rather than assumed to be part of this deal.

When a newer model or SE may be better
A discounted older-generation Series model can offer good upfront value, but a current-generation Apple Watch may provide a longer expected support and resale horizon. The cheaper Apple Watch SE line may also be sufficient for buyers who mainly want notifications, activity tracking, and basic smartwatch functions and do not need the additional hardware or health features associated with the Series line.
Use Apple’s official comparison tool to check current model differences. Do not assume that the historical Series 10 price is automatically better than a current discount on another model.
