Apple’s new Apple Watch bands are not one single August launch. As of August 16, 2026, Apple’s store lists a rolling collection of 2026 additions: new Sport Band and Sport Loop colors, Pride and Black Unity special editions, refreshed Apple Watch Ultra options, and new or updated Hermès styles.
The most relevant choices for most owners remain the $49 Sport Band and $49 Sport Loop. The Ultra collection starts at $99, while Hermès bands range from $349 to $1,099 in the U.S. Apple Store. These are primarily style and material updates—not upgrades to Apple Watch sensors or fitness features.
What’s new in Apple Watch bands?
Apple’s current Watch Bands store labels products as “New” or “New Colors.” The 2026 lineup spans several releases rather than a single collection announced on August 16.

The new $49 everyday bands
Sport Band: Soft Pink, Clementine, and Bright Guava
The new Sport Band colors are Soft Pink, Clementine, and Bright Guava. The band itself is not a new construction: it remains Apple’s smooth, wipe-clean elastomer-style option with a buckle-and-tuck closure.
Choose it if you want a band that is straightforward to clean after workouts and practical around water. Its trade-off is breathability. It can feel warmer than fabric, and the fixed holes are less convenient if you frequently adjust your fit.

Sport Loop: Bright Guava, Blue Mist, and Cantaloupe
The new Sport Loop colors are Bright Guava, Blue Mist, and Cantaloupe. Like the Sport Band refresh, these are primarily cosmetic updates rather than a performance upgrade.
The Sport Loop uses a hook-and-loop closure, so it is easier to fine-tune than a buckle band. That makes it a strong choice for exercise, changing wrist size, or anyone who dislikes choosing between fixed holes. The fabric can be comfortable and breathable, but it can absorb sweat or water and take longer to dry.

Pride Edition Sport Loop
Apple’s Pride Edition Sport Loop is listed as new and costs $49 in the U.S. Apple’s 2026 Pride release was reported on May 4, 2026. It uses the same broad fabric-and-hook-and-loop concept as a regular Sport Loop, but its value is the multicolor design rather than different watch functionality.

It is the most obvious choice if you want a statement band without paying more than Apple’s standard Sport Loop price. The same fabric considerations apply: it may be comfortable for daily wear, but it is less convenient than a smooth band when repeatedly exposed to water.

Unity Connection Braided Solo Loop
Announced by Apple on January 26, 2026, the Unity Connection Braided Solo Loop is the Black Unity special edition. It costs $99 and is offered in 42mm and 46mm case-compatible versions, with band sizes 0 through 12. Apple says it is compatible with Apple Watch Series 4 or later, Apple Watch SE, and Apple Watch Ultra models within the stated size limitations.
Its defining feature is the buckle-free braided construction. That creates a cleaner, more jewelry-like appearance, but it also makes sizing critical. You cannot loosen it with a buckle during the day. Measure carefully and follow Apple’s sizing guidance before ordering.
This is a style and special-edition purchase, not a health or fitness upgrade. Read Apple’s announcement and compatibility details before buying.

New Apple Watch Ultra band options
Apple’s Ultra band collection includes refreshed colors and finishes associated primarily with Apple Watch Ultra 3:
- Alpine Loop: Light Blue and Terra Cotta.
- Trail Loop: Blue/Bright Blue, Green/Neon, and Black/Charcoal colorways.
- Ocean Band: Anchor Blue and Neon Green.
- Ocean Band Extension: $49 extension option where additional length is needed.
- Titanium Milanese Loop: Natural Titanium and Black Titanium, listed at $199.
Alpine, Trail, and Ocean Bands are generally listed at $99. The Trail Loop is the most natural starting point for runners and anyone who wants highly adjustable all-day wear. The Alpine Loop has a more structured, adventure-oriented feel. The Ocean Band is the water-focused option, but it is bulkier and less versatile-looking than a Sport Band.
The Titanium Milanese Loop is the premium formal option. Its metal construction can look more distinctive with dress clothes, but it is expensive, heavier-looking, and less suitable for high-sweat workouts than Apple’s sport bands.

Although these bands are marketed around Ultra models, Apple’s compatibility rules allow some Ultra bands to be used with certain larger standard Apple Watch cases. Check the specific product listing rather than assuming that every 49mm band suits every watch.

Hermès: new luxury styles and colors
Apple’s current multicolor and Hermès listings include new or refreshed versions of:
- En Mer
- Scub’H Diving
- Toile H Double Jeu
- Kilim Single Tour
- Grand H
- Grand H Fin
Prices listed in the U.S. Apple Store range from $349 for some Kilim or Toile H styles to $449 for En Mer, $549 for Scub’H Diving, $999 for Grand H, and $1,099 for Grand H Fin.
Hermès makes sense for buyers prioritizing design, materials, and the Hermès identity. It is not a sensible value upgrade for someone who simply needs a replacement workout band: the watch’s sensors and software do not become more capable because the band costs more.

Do not buy based only on the Apple Watch generation or the word “Ultra.” Check the case size shown on the watch, its packaging, or in the Watch app. Apple’s current compatibility guidance groups bands as follows:
- 38mm, 40mm, and 41mm bands are compatible with one another.
- 42mm, 44mm, and 45mm bands are compatible with one another.
- 46mm bands are compatible with 44mm, 45mm, and 46mm cases.
- 49mm bands are compatible with 44mm, 45mm, and 46mm cases.
Apple Watch Ultra models use 49mm cases, while newer standard Apple Watch models use 42mm and 46mm case sizes. That makes older assumptions about “small” and “large” bands easy to get wrong.

A band can be mechanically compatible but still look disproportionate on a smaller or larger case. You also need to confirm the band’s length. This matters especially for Alpine, Trail, and Ocean options, and for Solo Loop or Braided Solo Loop bands, where the selected wrist size cannot be adjusted with a buckle.

Fit, sensors, and skin sensitivity
The band should be snug enough to keep the watch’s back in contact with your skin, but not so tight that it becomes uncomfortable. Apple says skin contact is needed for wrist detection, haptic notifications, and heart-rate sensing. A loose band can affect contact; an overly tight band can cause discomfort or irritation.
Apple also notes that some Watch and band components contain nickel. Irritation can be related to an allergy or sensitivity, but sweat, soap, prolonged moisture, and friction can also contribute. No band should be described as universally hypoallergenic.
If irritation appears, clean and dry both your wrist and the band, avoid wearing it too tightly, and stop using it if symptoms continue. Apple’s skin-sensitivity and contact guidance explains the relevant materials and precautions.

Best budget-friendly refresh: Sport Band
Choose the $49 Sport Band if you want a new color, easy cleaning, and a practical option for everyday use or workouts. Soft Pink, Clementine, and Bright Guava are cosmetic refreshes, so buy one for the look or material—not for new capabilities.

The $49 Sport Loop is the better choice if your wrist size changes during exercise or you want precise adjustment without fixed buckle holes. Choose among Bright Guava, Blue Mist, Cantaloupe, and the Pride Edition based on appearance.

Best colorful statement: Pride Edition Sport Loop
The Pride Edition is the strongest style choice among the $49 releases. It offers a distinctive design without a price premium over the standard Sport Loop.
Best for Ultra outdoor use: Trail Loop or Alpine Loop
Choose the Trail Loop for running and frequent adjustment. Choose the Alpine Loop if you prefer a more structured outdoor band. Neither is universally better; closure preference, wrist fit, and activity matter more than the name.
Best for water use: Ocean Band
The $99 Ocean Band is the relevant Ultra-oriented choice for ocean and water activities. It is less discreet and more substantial than a Sport Band, so it is not automatically the best everyday option.

The $199 Titanium Milanese Loop is aimed at formal styling. Verify compatibility and fit before buying, especially if you are pairing it with a smaller standard Apple Watch case or plan to use it during workouts.
Best luxury option: Hermès
Hermès is for readers who value luxury design and materials above value. At $349 to $1,099, these bands are poor choices if your main goal is exercise, swimming, adjustability, or an inexpensive color change.
Should you buy a new band now?
Buy now if you want a specific 2026 color or special edition, or if your current band is worn, uncomfortable, or no longer suits your routine. The $49 Sport Band and Sport Loop are the safest low-cost refreshes.
Wait if you are interested only in having the newest possible color and do not need a replacement. Apple may refresh accessories alongside future hardware launches, but the researched sources do not establish a separate August 16, 2026 band announcement.
Do not upgrade expecting better fitness tracking or sensor accuracy. The new everyday colors are new finishes for existing band types, while the premium options change the styling, closure, or material—not the Apple Watch’s underlying functions.
