The Bausele Vintage 2.0 pairs an analogue pilot-inspired dial with phone notifications, step and sleep tracking, a world-time function and a battery advertised to last two to four years. Its appeal is restraint: there is no screen to read and no routine charging cable. But it is a 2020-era watch, and its current availability, app compatibility and service support are unverified—important caveats for anyone considering a secondhand example.
At a glance: The Vintage 2.0 is a minimalist hybrid smartwatch, not a mechanical watch with electronics added to its movement. It keeps time with an analogue display and communicates connected alerts through vibration and dial indicators. A hands-on review published on October 18, 2020, described it as Bausele’s first smartwatch-oriented product and listed launch prices of AUD$750 with a leather strap or AUD$850 with a steel bracelet. Those are historical prices, not current offers. The original review remains the main source for its specifications and features.
Current status: The Vintage 2.0 is not visibly listed among the current products on Bausele’s official site. That does not prove the model has been formally discontinued, but buyers should treat it as an archival or secondhand product unless Bausele confirms otherwise. Retail stock, companion-app availability, phone compatibility, firmware support and battery service are all unverified.

A traditional analogue watch tells the time without connecting to a phone. A full smartwatch typically adds a digital display, apps and frequent charging, often letting you read or respond to notifications on the wrist. A hybrid sits between those types: it preserves analogue hands and a watch-like face, while adding some connected functions.

The Bausele is at the minimalist end of that spectrum. It can alert you to activity on your phone, but it does not present a message preview or a menu of apps. The compromise is purposeful: it may suit someone who wants to know that a call or message arrived without turning the watch into another screen to check. It will disappoint anyone who expects to read, sort or answer alerts from the wrist.
Vintage cues, with notification markers on the dial
The watch has a 40mm brushed stainless-steel case and is approximately 11mm thick. Curved lugs are intended to follow the wrist, while the minimal bezel leaves room for the dial. Its Arabic numerals and minute track draw on vintage pilot-watch styling. A stylised Bausele logo sits at 12 o’clock, a kangaroo motif appears around 4 o’clock, and notification symbols are worked into the face. The watch was offered with either a leather strap or a steel bracelet.
The knurled crown is a button rather than a conventional pull-out crown. It operates the alternate time-zone function; the original review does not provide enough detail to claim more about how that display works. The caseback carries a diagram resembling a Zenith El Primero/400Z-style chronograph movement. That is a visual reference, not evidence that the watch contains a Zenith movement. The available review does not identify the electronics platform or establish a mechanical movement inside.
“Blends past and present,” then, describes the design language and restrained interaction—not a mechanical calibre combined with smartwatch electronics. The result is more distinctive than a standard fitness band, but the dial’s symbols and alerts are a trade-off: connected information is hinted at, not spelled out.

What the Vintage 2.0 can do

The documentation does not establish support for ECG, blood-oxygen monitoring, continuous heart-rate tracking, GPS, music control, contactless payments, touchscreen interaction or app installation. Do not assume the watch offers those features simply because it is called a smartwatch.
In practical terms, its notifications are for awareness, not interaction. If you want a discreet vibration that tells you to check your phone later, that can be useful. If you need caller details, message previews, quick replies, navigation or a way to leave your phone behind, this is the wrong kind of hybrid.
Battery: a compelling claim, with present-day unknowns
The original review gave a claimed battery-change interval of two to four years. That was an attractive contrast with screen-equipped watches that need charging every day or every few days. It is a review-era claim, not a verified 2026 ownership result. Actual life can vary with alert volume, Bluetooth use, battery age and storage conditions.

Those omissions matter more now than they did at launch: a dead battery is only one potential obstacle if an older connected watch also depends on an app or phone pairing that no longer works. Ask Bausele and the seller about service before buying; do not assume a conventional watchmaker can restore every connected function.

50m water resistance is not a blanket promise
The review describes a screw-down caseback and a 50m water-resistance rating. That is not the same as a stated dive-watch certification, and the available information does not give detailed guidance for swimming or showering. Water resistance can also be compromised by aged seals or by opening the case for a battery change. For an older secondhand watch, ask for evidence of a recent pressure test before wearing it in water. Without that, treat the rating cautiously.
Who might want one?
The Vintage 2.0 makes most sense as a design-led, screen-free watch for someone who values analogue styling and wants basic phone awareness rather than a complete wearable platform. It may also interest collectors researching Bausele or early hybrid watches. The 40mm case and vintage pilot cues give it a conventional wristwatch presence, while the notification symbols make the connected purpose visible without adding a screen.
It is a poor fit for athletes who need GPS, heart-rate zones, training analysis or structured workouts; for anyone seeking medical or detailed wellness measurements; and for people who want to leave their phone at home. It is also hard to recommend to buyers who require assured app support, easy servicing or a long software-support horizon. The current evidence does not verify those things for this model.
What to check before buying secondhand
- Pairing and app access: Ask the seller to demonstrate setup with a current phone, not just show an old screenshot. Check whether the Bausele app can still be downloaded in your region and whether calls, messages and other intended alerts arrive.
- Battery history: Find out whether the battery has been replaced, when, and by whom. A clean exterior does not tell you whether the battery is near the end of its life.
- Water-resistance service: If the case has been opened, ask whether seals were replaced and the watch pressure-tested afterward. Do not rely on an old rating for an untested example.
- Functions and condition: Check the vibration, button, dial indicators and timekeeping, as well as the crystal, hands, caseback, bracelet, clasp and strap attachments.
- Support and accessories: Ask Bausele whether it can still assist with repairs, battery replacement, app issues or firmware. Confirm any pairing or reset steps and whether a special tool or accessory is required.
- Claims in the listing: Treat claims of a mechanical Zenith movement or modern health and sports features as unverified unless supported by model-specific documentation.
Bausele’s general user-manual page describes a two-year international warranty from delivery for its watches. That general policy is not proof that a Vintage 2.0 bought in 2026 remains covered, or that the model is still actively serviced. Confirm the terms for the specific watch directly with the brand.

These are not direct substitutes in every respect. The Bausele’s differentiator is its screen-free restraint and distinctive Australian independent-brand identity; the Withings models prioritise health tracking, while Garmin offers a more capable fitness platform. Choose based on which compromise you actually want.
Verdict
The Bausele Vintage 2.0 is an interesting early hybrid: a vintage-inspired analogue watch that offers basic connected awareness without putting another screen on the wrist. Its design and claimed two-to-four-year battery interval give it a clear point of view, but the feature set is intentionally narrow, and the original coverage leaves key ownership questions unanswered.
As a design object or collector’s piece, it remains compelling. As a current connected wearable, it is difficult to recommend without first confirming app pairing, battery replacement and service support for the exact example. If those checks fail—or if you want modern health tracking—Withings or Garmin offers a more practical current route, at the cost of a display, charging, or both.
