Best overall: Xiaomi Smart Band 10, if you want a bright screen, broad activity tracking and long advertised battery life—and can verify that a U.S. seller offers a suitable warranty and return policy. For a more established U.S. app experience, choose Fitbit Inspire 3; Samsung Galaxy Fit3 is a better fit for many Galaxy-phone owners but does not work with iPhone. If you need GPS without carrying your phone, look beyond traditional fitness bands.
These are different kinds of trade-offs, not interchangeable winners. The Xiaomi’s up-to-21-day battery figure is for typical use, not every setting; Fitbit’s advanced insights include Premium features; and Galaxy Fit3 has important phone-compatibility limits. Retail prices and inventory change, so check the seller, condition and current price before buying.
What counts as a fitness band?
A fitness band is a slim wearable built mainly for steps, activity, heart rate, sleep and workout records. Compared with a smartwatch, it usually has fewer apps and phone features, a smaller display and longer battery life. Many bands use a connected phone for GPS rather than recording routes independently.
This guide focuses on band-style trackers: Xiaomi Smart Band 10, Fitbit Inspire 3, Samsung Galaxy Fit3, Amazfit Band 7 and Garmin vívosmart 5. The Charge 6 is included as a stretch option. Watch-like Amazfit Bip or Active models and dedicated GPS running watches can be better choices for some workouts, but they are not the same category.

Quick picks: which under-$100 band suits you?
| Model | Best for | Advertised battery life | GPS | Phone compatibility | Subscription and U.S. buying note |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Xiaomi Smart Band 10 | Best overall value | Up to 21 days in typical use; 9 days with always-on display and 8 days in heavy-load use, according to Xiaomi | No built-in GPS; use a phone for location tracking | Android 8.0 or later; iOS 14 or later, per Xiaomi | No mandatory subscription for core tracking. The cited Xiaomi product page is for Qatar, not a U.S. retail or warranty guarantee. |
| Fitbit Inspire 3 | Beginners and approachable sleep insights | About 10 days advertised | No built-in GPS | Android and iPhone through Fitbit | Core tracking is available without Premium; some advanced insights and content require Premium. Check U.S. stock and whether a unit is new or refurbished. |
| Samsung Galaxy Fit3 | Samsung-phone owners | Up to 13 days, per Samsung | No built-in GPS specified in the cited support material; do not buy it expecting independent route recording | Android 10 or later; not compatible with iOS | No Fitbit-style paid membership required for core tracking. Confirm feature support for your specific Android phone. |
| Amazfit Band 7 | Low-cost alternative if discounted | Up to roughly two weeks under manufacturer conditions | Phone-assisted location; not built-in GPS | Android and iPhone support | No mandatory subscription for core tracking. Older model: check current stock, seller and returns. |
| Garmin vívosmart 5 | Garmin users, when on sale | Typically around 7 days | No built-in GPS; phone-assisted tracking | Android and iPhone | Garmin Connect’s core features are available without a subscription. Include it under $100 only if an authorized seller’s current price qualifies. |
| Fitbit Charge 6 | Stretch pick if a sale brings it below $100 | Not stated here | Built-in GPS | Android and iPhone | Normally above the budget; a larger, more watch-like tracker than a simple band. |

Best overall value: Xiaomi Smart Band 10
Choose the Smart Band 10 if you want a color display, many workout modes and long battery endurance for a low-cost band, and you are comfortable using your phone for GPS. Xiaomi lists Android 8.0-or-later and iOS 14-or-later compatibility, 150-plus sport modes, and heart-rate, blood-oxygen, sleep, stress and women’s-health tracking. Those are feature claims, not proof that readings are clinically accurate.
Battery claims depend on settings
Xiaomi lists up to 21 days in typical use, but separately gives 9 days with the always-on display and 8 days in heavy-load use. Always-on display, frequent measurements, notifications, workouts and synchronization can all shorten a charge. Treat the maximum as a best-case manufacturer figure rather than a guaranteed interval. See Xiaomi’s specifications and Xiaomi’s battery FAQ.

The cited official product page is Xiaomi’s Qatar page, so it confirms product specifications but does not establish straightforward U.S. retail support. Before ordering, confirm that the exact seller provides a U.S.-usable warranty and return window, that the Mi Fitness app pairs in your region, and that replacement straps and the charger are obtainable. An import can differ in warranty, language support, NFC functions, included accessories and regional features.

Best for beginners and sleep presentation: Fitbit Inspire 3
Inspire 3 is the safer choice if you value a familiar app that presents activity and sleep information in an accessible way more than a very long battery claim or advanced running tools. It is compact, works with iPhone and Android, and is advertised at about 10 days of battery life. Independent coverage continues to recommend it as an entry-level tracker; see TechRadar’s Inspire 3 coverage and Tom’s Guide’s comparison.
Core tracking does not require Fitbit Premium, but some deeper insights, content and advanced features do. Fitbit comparison material has listed Premium at $9.99 monthly or $79.99 annually after a promotional period; offers and pricing may change by market and date, so check the terms shown at signup and whether a trial auto-renews. The comparison guide is available at Fitbit’s feature comparison PDF.
Recommended Free Tools
Inspire 3 launched in 2022, so current listings may include discounted new stock, open-box units or refurbished devices. Check the item condition, seller warranty and return terms before purchase; an older tracker with unknown battery history is not equivalent to a new one.
Best for Samsung phones: Galaxy Fit3
Galaxy Fit3 is the ecosystem pick for Android users, particularly people already using a Samsung Galaxy phone. Samsung lists Android 10-or-later support, up to 13 days of battery life, heart-rate and blood-oxygen monitoring, sleep and stress tracking, automatic workout detection, notification and media controls, plus fall detection and SOS features. Those emergency functions depend on a paired phone and ecosystem; the band is not an independent cellular emergency device.
Samsung explicitly says Galaxy Fit3 is not compatible with iOS. Some functions integrate best with a Samsung phone, so Android compatibility alone does not guarantee the same feature set on every manufacturer’s handset. Samsung also says the Fit3 cannot perform ECG or body-composition measurements. Review Samsung’s Fit3 feature information and its compatibility guidance before buying. Samsung notes that activity tracking affects battery use in its battery guidance.

Best cheap alternative: Amazfit Band 7
Band 7 is worth considering when it costs materially less than newer alternatives and you mainly want basic tracking, a screen and long intervals between charges. Its roughly two-week battery figure is an under-manufacturer-conditions claim, not a direct head-to-head result. Its older age and less compelling app ecosystem make it a value alternative rather than the default recommendation.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteCheck the U.S. Amazfit product page for current stock and buy only if seller, warranty and returns are clear. Its built-in sensors and workout modes do not make it a GPS watch: carry a paired phone for location-based route recording.
Best Garmin option under $100—only when discounted: vívosmart 5
If you already use Garmin Connect, vívosmart 5 can be more useful than a cheaper band from another ecosystem. Garmin’s Body Battery and broader health and activity context are a natural fit for users who already review their data in Garmin’s app. Core Garmin Connect features are available without a paid subscription.
It is not a normal under-$100 recommendation: include it only when an authorized seller’s current price is at or below the limit. The monochrome screen is less vivid than the color displays on the Xiaomi and Samsung, and the band lacks built-in GPS. See Garmin’s vívosmart 5 product page for its product details.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Want GPS without your phone? Consider a watch instead
For outdoor running, cycling or hiking, built-in GPS records location without relying on your phone. A traditional fitness band in this shortlist is generally the wrong tool if you want to leave your phone at home and still save a route and pace. A watch-style Amazfit Bip or Active model may offer built-in GPS during sales, while Fitbit Charge 6 is a more capable stretch option if its sale price falls within budget. These are watch-like alternatives, not equivalent slim bands; verify the exact model’s GPS and current price before purchase.

For structured intervals, training-load analysis, external heart-rate sensors, multisport training or navigation, consider a dedicated GPS fitness watch instead. Paying more is justified when independent location tracking or training tools matter more than a small form factor and multi-day battery life.
How to choose without being misled by the spec sheet
Match the tracker to your phone
- For iPhone, consider Xiaomi Smart Band 10, Fitbit Inspire 3, Amazfit Band 7 or Garmin vívosmart 5; do not choose Galaxy Fit3, which Samsung says is iOS-incompatible.
- For Android, all these brands may be options, but check minimum OS versions and whether a feature requires a specific phone brand.
- “Compatible” does not mean identical functionality: notification replies, phone controls and health integrations can vary by operating system and app.
Read battery claims as conditional maxima
Always-on display, brightness, heart-rate and blood-oxygen sampling, sleep monitoring, workout recording, notifications and syncing affect endurance. Connected GPS also uses the phone and band during route-tracked workouts. A Xiaomi typical-use figure, Samsung maximum, and claims for other brands are not measurements taken under a shared test protocol.
Separate sensor availability from accuracy
A band having a heart-rate or blood-oxygen sensor establishes that it offers an estimate, not that it is accurate for every person or activity. Fit, movement, wrist contact, workout type, firmware and algorithm changes can affect results. Sleep stages and calorie estimates are also consumer wellness outputs, not medical measurements. Use bands to follow broad personal trends; do not use them to diagnose a condition or replace medical equipment and professional advice.
Check water-rating details for your use
Water resistance is not a blanket promise for diving, hot tubs or prolonged exposure to hot water and steam. Check the exact model’s manufacturer rating and limits for swimming, saltwater and care after exposure before wearing it in water.
Use this pre-purchase checklist
- Confirm the exact model works with your phone and the manufacturer’s app in your region.
- For imports, verify warranty coverage, return shipping, language and regional features; marketplace stock is not automatically official U.S. stock.
- Check whether the listing is new, open-box, refurbished or used, especially for older Inspire 3 inventory.
- Confirm whether GPS is built in or phone-connected if you need routes.
- Review any subscription trial, renewal date and post-trial feature limits.
- Check the cost and availability of replacement bands and the proprietary charger. Galaxy Fit3 uses a dedicated charger and does not charge on wireless pads or PowerShare, according to Samsung.
Bottom line: buy for your phone and use case
For the broadest feature set and long advertised battery life, Xiaomi Smart Band 10 is the value pick if you are comfortable verifying U.S. seller support. Fitbit Inspire 3 is the more approachable choice for beginners who value Fitbit’s app and accept Premium’s limits. Galaxy Fit3 makes sense for Samsung-phone owners, while Garmin vívosmart 5 is best considered by Garmin users when discounted. If you need independent GPS, buy a GPS-equipped watch rather than expecting a basic band to do that job.
