No. The Samsung Galaxy Watch4 and Galaxy Watch4 Classic cannot be officially paired or set up with an iPhone. Samsung requires a compatible Android phone and the Android version of Galaxy Wearable because the Watch4 runs Wear OS Powered by Samsung.
This applies to Bluetooth/Wi-Fi and LTE versions alike. It does not apply to every Samsung watch: several older Tizen-based models, including the original Galaxy Watch, Galaxy Watch Active2 and Galaxy Watch3, supported iPhone through Samsung’s older iOS app.
Why the Galaxy Watch4 does not work with iPhone
The Galaxy Watch4 was the first Galaxy Watch generation to move from Samsung’s Tizen platform to Wear OS Powered by Samsung. That change also changed the phone requirements.

Samsung’s current Wear OS Galaxy Watch guidance says Watch4 and later Wear OS Galaxy watches require a compatible Android phone and are not compatible with iOS. The required companion app is Galaxy Wearable on Android; Samsung’s older iPhone app cannot substitute for it.

- Rotating Bezel Navigation: Physical rotating bezel allows precise and intuitive control of apps and menus.
As a result, an iPhone cannot complete Watch4 setup, manage the watch, reliably synchronize its data, install apps and watch faces, configure notifications, or provide normal call and message integration.
Which Galaxy Watch models work with iPhone?
| Model | Official iPhone support | Setup method |
|---|---|---|
| Original Galaxy Watch | Yes, model and feature dependent | Samsung iOS app |
| Galaxy Watch Active | Supported by Samsung’s compatibility list | Samsung iOS app |
| Galaxy Watch Active2 | Supported by Samsung’s compatibility list | Samsung iOS app |
| Galaxy Watch3 | Supported by Samsung’s compatibility list | Samsung iOS app |
| Galaxy Watch4 | No | Compatible Android phone |
| Galaxy Watch4 Classic | No | Compatible Android phone |
| Galaxy Watch5 and later Wear OS models | No, under Samsung’s general Wear OS guidance | Compatible Android phone |
Check the exact model name rather than relying on its appearance. “Galaxy Watch” can mean the 2018 Tizen model, while “Galaxy Watch4” is a different platform entirely. You can verify the name and model number on the packaging, receipt, or the watch’s About watch screen.
Samsung’s model-by-model compatibility list is the safest reference for older watches. Even where iPhone support exists, older Samsung watches may have fewer features than when paired with Android.
Why common workarounds fail
Bluetooth pairing
Pairing a device in Settings > Bluetooth is not the same as completing smartwatch setup. The Watch4 needs companion-app provisioning, account configuration, firmware support, permissions, and service setup. An iPhone may detect a Bluetooth signal or show the watch during a pairing attempt, but that does not create a supported Watch4 connection.
LTE
LTE does not make the Watch4 iPhone-compatible. Cellular service can provide some standalone functions after the watch has been correctly activated and configured, subject to the model, country, carrier, plan and account. It does not replace the Android phone required for initial setup.
An LTE Watch4 cannot use Apple’s Watch app, iMessage integration, Apple Health synchronization, or iPhone notifications as an Apple Watch would.

- Rotating Bezel Navigation: Physical rotating bezel allows precise and intuitive control of apps and menus.
Wi-Fi and watch-only operation
Samsung provides guidance for using some Galaxy watches without a phone, but “without a phone” generally means limited watch-only use after configuration. It does not mean setting up a Watch4 directly from an iPhone. Watch-only use can limit app installation and updates, health synchronization, notifications, calls, messages, account management, backup and restore, and cellular functions.
Samsung Health on iPhone
Installing Samsung Health on an iPhone does not overcome the Watch4’s Android-only companion requirement. Health functions can also vary by region, software, account, compatible phone hardware and regulatory availability.
The supported setup path for a Galaxy Watch4
These are Android setup steps, not steps that can be completed on an iPhone:
- Charge and turn on the Galaxy Watch4.
- Install or update Galaxy Wearable on a compatible Android phone.
- Open Galaxy Wearable and select the Watch4 when it appears.
- Follow the pairing, account and permission prompts.
- Install required phone and watch updates.
- Configure notifications, apps, health permissions, Samsung account settings and, if applicable, LTE service.
Samsung’s setup guidance confirms that earlier iPhone-compatible watches follow a different app path from Watch4 and later Wear OS models.
Can an Android phone act as a bridge?
A compatible Android phone can set up the Watch4, but it cannot turn the watch into an iPhone companion.
- You own Android: Use the Watch4 with that Android phone.
- You can borrow Android: It may permit initial configuration, but it does not provide normal ongoing iPhone integration.
- You are switching from Android to iPhone: The Watch4 cannot simply be transferred as an iPhone companion.
- You have a Samsung tablet: Do not assume it substitutes for a compatible Android phone; follow Samsung’s current requirements.
Do not factory-reset the watch just to try again. A reset erases the device but cannot change its supported operating system.

What to do if you already bought one
If you need full smartwatch functionality, keep the Watch4 for use with a compatible Android phone. If you are moving permanently to iPhone, the practical choices are to return it within the retailer’s policy, sell or trade it, or pass it to an Android user. Do not buy the LTE version, accessories or third-party “pairing” services to solve the iPhone restriction.
Do not waste time on these fixes
- Pairing only through iPhone Bluetooth settings
- Installing Samsung Health and expecting it to manage the watch
- Activating LTE before Android setup
- Resetting the Watch4 repeatedly
- Using a borrowed Android phone and expecting permanent iPhone integration afterward
Best iPhone-compatible alternatives
| Requirement | Best fit | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Seamless iPhone integration | Apple Watch | Usually requires more frequent charging than fitness-focused watches |
| Longer battery life and training tools | Garmin | Less seamless messaging and app integration |
| Basic activity and sleep tracking | Fitbit | Less capable calling, messaging, navigation and app ecosystem |
Apple Watch
Apple Watch is the closest replacement for Watch4 functionality on an iPhone. Apple’s current requirements list iPhone 11 or later with iOS 26 or later. U.S. prices captured on August 16, 2026 were $249 for Apple Watch SE 3, $399 for Series 11 and $799 for Ultra 3. Prices, configurations and requirements can change, so check Apple’s current buying page and the 2026 pricing announcement.
Choose the Apple Watch SE 3 for the lowest-cost entry, Series 11 for the strongest general-purpose match, or Ultra 3 for rugged outdoor use. Ultra 3 is excessive if you only need steps, sleep tracking and notifications.
Garmin
Garmin is a better fit for runners, cyclists, hikers and people who prioritize training features, GPS and battery life over deep iPhone integration. Models vary substantially, so check the exact product on Garmin’s official store. Garmin is not an identical replacement for the Galaxy Watch4: messaging, apps and ecosystem features are generally less seamless than on Apple Watch.
Fitbit
Fitbit suits readers who mainly want activity, sleep and basic notification tracking with longer battery life than a full smartwatch. Its app ecosystem is simpler, and some features may require Fitbit Premium. Confirm the specific model and iOS requirement using Fitbit’s iOS support documentation.
Bottom line
The Galaxy Watch4 and Watch4 Classic cannot be officially connected to an iPhone. Bluetooth, LTE, Wi-Fi, Samsung Health and a factory reset do not remove the Android requirement. Use the Watch4 with Android, or return or resell it and choose Apple Watch, Garmin or Fitbit according to the features that matter most.
