Yes—most compatible Samsung Galaxy phones can pair with a Google Pixel Watch. You do not need a Google Pixel phone. However, “seamlessly” needs qualification: core smartwatch functions generally work, but the experience is Google-first rather than fully integrated with Samsung’s ecosystem. Setup uses the Google Pixel Watch app, and health data primarily belongs in Google Health/Fitbit rather than Samsung Health.
Before buying, check your Galaxy phone’s Android version, country availability, Google Account access, and—if you want LTE—your carrier’s support for the specific watch model.
Quick compatibility checklist
- A compatible Samsung Galaxy Android phone; Samsung tablets, TVs, laptops, earbuds, and other devices are not automatically supported companions.
- The Android minimum for your Pixel Watch generation.
- The Google Pixel Watch app from Google Play.
- A Google Account and internet access.
- A supported country or region.
- A compatible carrier if you are buying an LTE model.
Google’s model-specific compatibility page is the best reference for current requirements: Google Pixel Watch compatibility requirements.

Which Samsung Galaxy phones work?
Google describes Pixel Watch compatibility in terms of supported Android phones rather than requiring a Pixel phone. As a result, most recent Samsung Galaxy phones should work if they meet Google’s Android, account, app, and regional requirements. That is an inference from Google’s “most Android phones” requirement—not a guarantee that every Samsung model is compatible.
#1 Best Overall
- The new Google Pixel Watch 5 offers a smarter way to a healthier you.[1,2]; Designed for Gemini Intelligence, get proactive help, and personalized insights from Google Health[3,4]; watch is compatible with Android devices only; not compatible with iOS devices
- Precision-crafted to do it all: The Google Pixel Watch 5 features the domed Actua 360 display with scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass and up to 40 hours of battery life[1,5]
- Metrics that matter: Advanced sensors help you stay ahead of your health and wellness; and Google Pixel’s most accurate heart rate tracking is fine-tuned for your activity[6,7]
- Understand your sleep like never before: Your watch captures insights like the time spent in sleep stages to breathing regularity, then summarizes it all in a personalized Sleep Score[8,9]
- Detects loss of pulse, then calls for help: Pixel Watch 5 is the only smartwatch to feature Loss of Pulse Detection, which can prompt a call to emergency services[10]
| Pixel Watch model | Minimum Android version listed by Google |
|---|---|
| Pixel Watch | Android 8.0 or newer |
| Pixel Watch 2 | Android 9.0 or newer |
| Pixel Watch 3 | Android 10.0 or newer |
| Pixel Watch 4 | Android 11.0 or newer |
Do not rely on a generic “Android-compatible” label when buying a Pixel Watch 4. Google’s model-specific support page currently lists Android 11.0 or newer, although some regional store interfaces may show different general wording. Check the exact phone and watch combination before purchasing.
An iPhone is not supported. A Samsung Account also cannot replace the Google Account required for Pixel Watch setup.
How to pair a Pixel Watch with a Samsung phone
- Charge and turn on the Pixel Watch.
- Update the Samsung phone’s software if an update is available.
- Install or update the Google Pixel Watch app from Google Play.
- Turn on Bluetooth, Wi-Fi or mobile data, and location on the phone.
- Keep the unlocked phone within 0.5 metres—about 1.6 feet—of the watch.
- Follow the Fast Pair prompt when it appears. If it does not, open the Pixel Watch app manually and start setup there.
- Confirm that the pairing code on the phone matches the code on the watch.
- Sign in with your Google Account and approve the requested permissions.
- Install available watch updates, then configure notifications, calls, texts, Google Wallet, Google Assistant or Gemini, health services, and LTE if applicable.
Google’s setup instructions are available at Pixel Watch setup and Fast Pair. When setup succeeds, the Pixel Watch app should show the watch as Connected.

What works with a Samsung Galaxy phone?
For a compatible phone, the main Pixel Watch experience should function normally:

- Notifications: phone notifications can appear on the watch, subject to the notification permissions you choose.
- Calls and texts: these work through the phone connection; LTE models can add more off-phone functionality when the carrier and plan support it.
- Google apps: services such as Google Maps and Google Wallet are part of the Wear OS ecosystem, where available.
- Account synchronization: the watch and Google services use the Google Account connected during setup.
- Fitness and sleep tracking: Pixel Watch health data is managed through Google Health and Fitbit-related services.
- Updates and management: the Pixel Watch app handles watch configuration, apps, and software updates.
Google lists Pixel Watch functions and apps including Maps, Wallet, messaging, calls, Gemini, and Fitbit/Google Health features in its Pixel Watch app and software support documentation.
What does not automatically follow is every feature of the Samsung phone. Samsung modes, alarms, camera controls, health data, and device-management features may behave differently—or may not be available—compared with using a Galaxy Watch.
Samsung Health versus Google Health and Fitbit
The Pixel Watch is not primarily configured through Samsung’s Galaxy Wearable app, and Samsung Health is not its native health platform. Its health and fitness workflow is Google-first, using Google Health and Fitbit-related services.
| Goal | Pixel Watch with a Samsung phone |
|---|---|
| Receive phone notifications | Generally supported |
| Use Google Health/Fitbit tracking | Supported subject to app, account, model, and region requirements |
| Use Samsung Health as the primary watch platform | Not the native Pixel Watch experience |
| Get the deepest Samsung-specific health integration | A Galaxy Watch is likely the better fit |
| Use Google services on the watch | A strong reason to choose Pixel Watch |
Google explains Pixel Watch activity and sleep setup through Google Health/Fitbit support and provides additional health information at its Pixel Watch health guide. Do not assume complete, automatic synchronization of Pixel Watch health data with Samsung Health unless the exact current integration for your phone and apps is confirmed.

- The Google Pixel Watch 4 is a stunning display of precision craftsmanship, with Gemini, your built-in AI assistant, Google’s longest-lasting battery, and comprehensive tools for next-level health and fitness performance[1,2,3,4]

- The Google Pixel Watch 4 has Gemini built in[4]; just ask questions and your ultra capable AI assistant will deliver quick responses for personalized help; and stay connected when you’re texting with AI-powered quick replies that are hyper-relevant[5,6]
- Get up to 30 hours of battery life or up to 48 hours in Battery Saver mode[3]; plus, the new side charging dock gives you 15 hours of battery in 15 minutes or less[7]
- Train smarter with 40+ exercise modes and real-time stats on your wrist[8]; and with high-precision dual-frequency GPS, you get more accurate route tracking on runs and hikes[1]
ECG and other health features
Pairing a Pixel Watch with a Samsung phone does not guarantee that every health feature is available. ECG and related tools can vary by watch generation, country, age, app, and regulatory approval.
Google says the ECG app is available on the Pixel Watch series in selected countries and is not intended for people under 22. ECG results may require Wi-Fi or LTE to sync to Google Health. The app can assess signs consistent with atrial fibrillation, but it is not a medical diagnosis. See Google’s ECG availability and limitations before relying on the feature.
LTE is a separate compatibility question
A Samsung phone can pair successfully with a Pixel Watch while the watch’s LTE service remains unavailable or limited. LTE activation depends on the country, watch model, carrier, plan, and network conditions.
Google states that full talk, text, and data functionality on a Pixel Watch LTE requires the watch and Android companion device to use the same carrier network. Carrier fees may apply, and an LTE watch still needs initial setup with a compatible phone. Check the carrier list before choosing LTE; “works with Samsung” does not mean “works with every Samsung carrier plan.”

- Google Pixel Watch has a beautiful circular, domed design and new experience with Wear OS by Google, so it’s easy to get help at a glance
- Stay on top of activity, calories burned, and more with Fitbit activity tracking
- Track your heart rate and get insight into your sleep
- Save time with things like Google Wallet for contactless payments, turn-by-turn directions using Maps, and event notifications from Calendar
- Stay connected and productive wherever you go; respond to messages, manage your inbox, and make calls right from your wrist
Google currently lists a US offer involving two years of data and texting for eligible Pixel Watch 4 LTE purchases from Google Store or Best Buy. Offers, dates, retailers, and carrier conditions can change, so verify the terms on the official compatibility page before purchase.
Samsung-device edge cases
- Samsung Galaxy phone: This is the relevant and generally supported use case, provided the phone meets Google’s requirements.
- Samsung tablet: Do not assume support merely because it runs Android; Google’s compatibility guidance is focused on phones.
- Samsung Galaxy Watch: A Pixel Watch is not paired to a Galaxy Watch as its companion device. The question is whether the Pixel Watch pairs with a Samsung phone.
- Samsung earbuds: They may work as Bluetooth accessories, but they do not make an otherwise unsupported phone a compatible Pixel Watch companion.
Troubleshooting pairing problems
If the watch is not found or setup does not complete, work through this order:
- Confirm the phone meets the Android requirement for the exact Pixel Watch generation.
- Install the Google Pixel Watch app from Google Play and update it.
- Update the Samsung phone and watch software where possible.
- Turn Bluetooth off and on again.
- Enable location, Wi-Fi, or mobile data.
- Place the devices within 0.5 metres during Fast Pair.
- Restart the watch by holding the crown for three seconds and selecting Restart.
- Reopen the Pixel Watch app and retry setup.
Also check that the watch is not already associated with another phone, that the app is available in your region, and that a work profile or managed account is not restricting permissions. Google’s troubleshooting guidance is at Pixel Watch pairing and setup troubleshooting.

Avoid beginning the process only from Android’s Bluetooth settings. Pixel Watch setup should be completed through the Pixel Watch app or its Fast Pair prompt. If the watch still cannot be detected, follow Google’s current recovery instructions rather than assuming that a reset is the next step.

- The Google Pixel Watch 3 is designed for performance, with advanced fitness from Fitbit[1,2]; the 45mm screen is twice as bright and 40% larger than before, making it easier to see your stats and info[1]
- Maximize your performance with advanced running features; build custom run workouts and get real-time guidance and advanced form tracking[3]
- Enhance your run routine with Fitbit Premium; Google AI uses your goals, past runs, and readiness to power personalized run recommendations[3]
- Know what your body is ready for each day with readiness; it uses sleep, resting heart rate, and heart rate variability to show if you’re ready to take on a workout or prioritize recovery[3]
- Cardio load measures how hard your heart works so you can see how hard you’ve pushed; compare trends to see if you’re under- or over-training[3]
Pixel Watch or Galaxy Watch?
| Choose Pixel Watch if you… | Choose Galaxy Watch if you… |
|---|---|
| Prefer Google apps and services on your wrist | Want the most cohesive Samsung phone-and-watch experience |
| Prefer Google Health/Fitbit for fitness and sleep data | Prefer Samsung Health as your main health platform |
| Like the Pixel Watch design and software experience | Rely on Samsung-specific modes, controls, or ecosystem features |
| Are willing to verify LTE separately with your carrier | Want the least ambiguity around Galaxy-specific features |
Samsung says Wear OS Galaxy Watches are configured through the Galaxy Wearable app and are designed to integrate with Samsung Health and Samsung’s One UI ecosystem. See Samsung’s Galaxy Watch support information.
Model generation matters too. Pixel Watch 1 has the lowest Android requirement but is older. Pixel Watch 2 requires Android 9.0 or newer, Pixel Watch 3 requires Android 10.0 or newer, and Pixel Watch 4 requires Android 11.0 or newer. Battery, health tools, LTE availability, software, and regional support vary by generation. Google’s current Pixel Watch 4 specifications list Wear OS 6.0 and 41 mm and 45 mm options; confirm the exact configuration at the official specifications page.
The Bottom Line
Verdict: A compatible Samsung Galaxy phone is a perfectly viable companion for a Google Pixel Watch, especially if you prefer Google apps and Google Health/Fitbit. Choose a Galaxy Watch instead if Samsung Health and Samsung-specific integration matter more than the Pixel Watch software experience.
