The COROS PACE 4 is no longer launching soon. COROS announced and released it on November 10, 2025, at a U.S. launch price of $249. It is a 32g running and multisport GPS watch with an AMOLED display, dual-frequency GPS, structured training tools and up to 41 hours of high-use GPS battery life.

Its biggest weakness is equally important: the PACE 4 provides breadcrumb routes and off-course alerts, but does not have full onboard maps. It is an excellent lightweight training watch for road runners, marathoners and triathletes, but trail athletes who need map detail should look at the COROS PACE Pro or another mapping-capable watch.

At a glance

  • Best for: Road runners, marathoners and triathletes who want a light watch with a bright screen and long battery life.
  • Launch date: November 10, 2025.
  • Launch price: $249 in the United States.
  • Weight: 32g with the nylon band, or 40g with the silicone band.
  • Display: 1.2-inch AMOLED touchscreen, 390 × 390 resolution, with auto-adjusting brightness.
  • Battery claim: Up to 19 days of daily use or 41 hours in All-Systems high GPS mode.
  • Key limitation: Breadcrumb navigation, not full maps.

The PACE 4 occupies a useful middle ground: it is more focused and endurance-oriented than an Apple Watch SE, but more modern-looking indoors than the older PACE 3 because it replaces that watch’s efficient MIP-style screen with AMOLED.

What changed from the COROS PACE 3?

The display is the most visible upgrade. The PACE 4 uses a 1.2-inch AMOLED touchscreen, and COROS claims 164% higher resolution than the PACE 3. The result is sharper text, richer contrast and easier indoor readability. COROS also advertises auto-adjusting brightness and has cited a 1,500-nit brightness figure.

#1 Best Overall
COROS PACE 4 Ultralight Sport GPS Watch (White Silicone, Standard)
  • Ultralight & Ultra-Thin Design: Weighing only 32g with the nylon band and just 11.8mm thin, COROS PACE 4 GPS watch is lighter than an energy gel and comfortable enough for 24/7 wear, ensuring it never slows you down.
  • EASY ON THE EYES: The 1.2"touchscreen AMOLED display keeps colors vibrant and lines sharp, with auto-adjusting brightness that ensures the screen is easy to read in all environments. More detailed display 164% higher resolution compared to COROS PACE 3.
  • BIG BATTERY LIFE: Train longer without interruption. With 41 hours of continuous GPS use and up to 19 days of daily battery life, ensure your training isn’t tied to a charger.
  • NEW WAY TO TRAIN with VOICE features:Using PACE 4's voice recording tool, about where you were, what you saw, and how you felt during your workouts and capture training logs at the completion of your activity. Use Voice Control to set an alarm for tomorrow morning, create a target workout and more.
  • EFFORTLESS CONTROL: A combination of a tactile digital crown, two easy to reach buttons, and a smooth touchscreen offers intuitive control even at high intensity. Customize the Action Button for one-tap access to key features like media controls, breadcrumb navigation, or to record Voice Pins.

That does not mean it is unconditionally the brightest sports watch. Independent testing found the screen clear in varied conditions, while noting that some premium smartwatches and Garmin models can be brighter in direct sunlight. The practical conclusion is simpler: the PACE 4 is substantially easier to read indoors than the PACE 3, but AMOLED brings a battery penalty when its always-on mode is enabled.

Other hardware and usability changes include:

  • A built-in microphone for training notes and Voice Pins.
  • Media controls for phone music and podcasts.
  • On-screen flashlight functionality.
  • A redesigned optical heart-rate sensor with larger LEDs and a more secure fit.
  • Longer headline GPS endurance: up to 41 hours, which COROS says is 16 hours more than the PACE 3’s comparable figure.
  • Compatibility with a USB-C charging adapter, although a USB-C charging cable is not included.

Not every newer feature was present on the original launch firmware. Functions such as Live Tracking, Pace Strategy, Hill Alerts and Heart Rate Recovery arrived through later software updates.

Display and comfort

At 32g with its nylon band, the standard PACE 4 is exceptionally easy to forget on the wrist. The 40g silicone configuration is still light and may be preferable for frequent swimming, sweaty workouts or users who want a more conventional sport band.

COROS lists the watch body at 11.8mm thick. The aluminum Black Crystal edition weighs 33g with the nylon band, so its premium bezel adds little weight but does cost more.

The AMOLED screen is the main day-to-day pleasure. It makes menus, workout data and notifications look more like those on a modern smartwatch than on a traditional battery-first running watch. Auto-adjusting brightness is useful when moving between indoor and outdoor conditions.

Always-on display mode changes the endurance equation. One independent test reported roughly six days of general use with the display always on, compared with COROS’s up-to-19-day daily-use claim under less demanding settings. The display setting is therefore a genuine choice: maximum glanceability or maximum battery life.

GPS and heart-rate performance

The PACE 4 supports dual-frequency GPS, which is intended to improve positioning in difficult environments such as built-up city streets, tree cover and areas with reflected signals. Independent testing reported excellent GPS tracks, with results close to Garmin watches and chest-strap-controlled comparisons in the reviewer’s runs.

Rank #2
COROS PACE 4 Ultralight Sport GPS Watch (Black Crystal, Aluminum)
  • Uncompromisingly light and durable: The 6000‑series aluminum alloy bezel provides a high‑integrity frame, yet PACE 4 Black Crystal weighs just 33 g (with nylon band) – balancing structural integrity, a smooth finish, and an incredibly lightweight profile for the wear and tear of an active life.
  • AMOLED AT ITS BEST: The touchscreen AMOLED display has a tapered edge, crystal clear visibility, and vibrant colors. It brings a more detailed display with 164% higher resolution than the COROS PACE 3.

That is encouraging, but it is not a guarantee of identical results for every route, phone setting or environment. GPS performance can vary with buildings, foliage, satellite conditions and the selected tracking mode.

The redesigned optical heart-rate sensor was generally close to a chest strap in independent testing, but reviewers also observed occasional early-run spikes and delayed responses when effort changed quickly. Another comparison found Garmin’s optical heart rate somewhat more consistent at the beginning of runs.

For intervals, races, cycling or workouts where rapid heart-rate changes matter, pair the watch with a compatible Bluetooth heart-rate strap. A snug fit also matters, particularly in cold weather, during sudden efforts and when the wrist is moving repeatedly.

Training and multisport features

The PACE 4 is primarily a training instrument, not a lifestyle smartwatch. Its strengths are the features that help an athlete plan, execute and review workouts:

  • Running Fitness and VO₂ max estimates.
  • Lactate-threshold estimates and running power.
  • Race predictions and Virtual Pacer.
  • Personalized marathon plans.
  • Structured workouts, intervals and training sessions.
  • Recovery time, sleep stages, HRV and menstrual-cycle tracking.
  • Triathlon, pool-swimming and open-water activity modes.
  • Route syncing from COROS, Strava, RideWithGPS and Wikiloc.
  • Off-course alerts and breadcrumb navigation.

These metrics are useful for identifying trends and guiding training, but they are estimates—not medical diagnoses or guaranteed race results. A race prediction can also be affected by the quality and consistency of the workouts used to generate it.

Navigation: useful, but not maps

The PACE 4 can follow a preloaded route as a breadcrumb line and warn you when you go off course. That is enough for many road runs, organized races and familiar trail routes where you already understand the terrain.

It is not equivalent to a watch with full onboard maps. You should not expect detailed terrain, streets, trail junctions or points of interest displayed on the watch. Trail runners navigating complex networks, and athletes who regularly explore unfamiliar areas, should consider the COROS PACE Pro or a comparable Garmin or Suunto model with map support.

Battery life: headline versus reality

Use case Figure What it means
Daily use Up to 19 days A manufacturer estimate that varies with notifications, sleep tracking, sensors, music and display settings.
All-Systems high GPS Up to 41 hours COROS’s headline high-use GPS figure.
Dual-frequency GPS About 31 hours An independent specification estimate; mode and display settings affect the result.
Always-on display About six days An independent real-world test, not the standard daily-use maximum.
Multiband GPS with always-on display About 24 hours An independent test result under more demanding settings.

Music playback, navigation, backlight use, frequent workouts and external sensors all reduce endurance. For most marathoners, the advertised GPS capacity is generous. Ultrarunners should calculate using their chosen GPS mode and display setting rather than assuming the 41-hour maximum.

COROS PACE 4 Ultralight Sport GPS Watch (Jakob Ingebrigtsen, Aluminum)
  • Uncompromisingly light and durable: The 6000‑series aluminum alloy bezel provides a high‑integrity frame, yet PACE 4 Black Crystal weighs just 33 g (with nylon band) – balancing structural integrity, a smooth finish, and an incredibly lightweight profile for the wear and tear of an active life.
  • AMOLED AT ITS BEST: The touchscreen AMOLED display has a tapered edge, crystal clear visibility, and vibrant colors. It brings a more detailed display with 164% higher resolution than the COROS PACE 3.
  • BIG BATTERY LIFE: Train longer without interruption. With 41 hours of continuous GPS use and up to 19 days of daily battery life, ensure your training isn’t tied to a charger.

Smartwatch features and limitations

The watch shows notifications, connects over Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, stores MP3 files and controls music or podcasts playing on a phone. Its microphone enables Voice Pins and training notes, allowing you to record observations without stopping to type.

However, it is not a miniature phone. COROS says there is no direct Spotify or Apple Music integration, so onboard listening depends on MP3 storage rather than downloading music through those services. It also offers fewer general-purpose apps and lifestyle features than an Apple Watch or a broader Garmin smartwatch.

One practical detail is easy to miss: the package does not include a USB-C charging cable. Check the charging adapter and your existing cable before the first charge.

Software status in 2026

The PACE 4 has received meaningful updates since launch. COROS’s release notes, updated July 29, 2026, list firmware V3.1808.0 and include:

  • Live Tracking with a shareable link.
  • Expanded sleep trends and sleep-quality guidance.
  • Treadmill speed-adjustment improvements.
  • Earlier additions including Airplane Mode, Heart Rate Recovery, in-progress activity syncing, Voice Control beta, Pace Strategy, Hill Alerts, weekly distance and passcode support.

These should be understood as features available by the cited firmware date, not as a list of functions guaranteed on the original November 2025 software. Update availability can also depend on region, app version and future firmware changes.

Which PACE 4 edition should you buy?

Standard PACE 4

Choose the standard model if you want the lowest launch-price configuration and the minimum weight. Its fiber-reinforced polymer construction provides the same central training, display, battery, microphone and navigation platform without paying for a metal finish.

Aluminum Black Crystal

The aluminum edition is aimed at buyers who prefer a more premium bezel and finish. COROS announced it at $279, and it weighs 33g with the nylon band. It is not a documented performance upgrade: the principal differences are material, appearance and price.

Jakob Ingebrigtsen “Fearless” edition

This is a design-led athlete edition based on the PACE 4 platform. It makes sense for fans of Jakob Ingebrigtsen or buyers who specifically want the colorway. There is no basis for presenting it as a more capable training model without documented hardware or software differences.

COROS also lists customizable configurations. Because prices and selected variants can change, check the official product page at checkout rather than assuming the original $249 launch price remains the current total.

PACE 4 versus the alternatives

COROS PACE 3

The PACE 3 remains attractive if discounted and if you prioritize battery-efficient display technology over AMOLED contrast. The PACE 4 is the more modern choice for screen readability, voice features, media controls and longer stated GPS endurance. Existing PACE 3 owners do not necessarily gain a completely new training platform; the upgrade is most compelling when the display and newer hardware features matter.

COROS PACE Pro

Choose the PACE Pro if full onboard maps and a larger display are more important than the PACE 4’s minimal-weight proposition. It costs more, but it is the clearer choice for navigation-heavy trail running.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Garmin Forerunner 70

In one comparison, the Garmin offered a broader smartwatch and app ecosystem plus Garmin-specific training-readiness analysis, while the PACE 4 offered stronger stated battery life, dual-frequency GPS, music storage and broad multisport support. Independent testing found both GPS systems reliable, with Garmin’s optical heart rate somewhat more consistent at the start of runs. Choose based on whether you value Garmin’s software ecosystem or COROS’s lighter, endurance-focused approach.

Apple Watch SE

The Apple Watch SE is the better general smartwatch for apps, notifications and close phone integration. The PACE 4 is the better specialist sports watch if you want long intervals between charges, structured endurance training and a very light body.

Suunto Run

Suunto Run is a credible AMOLED running-watch alternative. Tom’s Guide judged the COROS interface and training analysis easier to use and its battery life better, but that is reviewer opinion rather than a universal measurement. Compare current prices and the software features you actually use.

Who should buy the COROS PACE 4?

Buy it if you are a road runner, marathoner or triathlete who wants a lightweight watch, a bright AMOLED screen, dual-frequency GPS and strong battery life without moving into premium-watch pricing.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Consider it if you are a trail runner who mainly follows planned routes and can live with breadcrumb navigation. It is also worth considering for PACE 3 owners who specifically want AMOLED, voice notes, media controls or additional GPS endurance.

Skip it if you need full maps, direct Spotify or Apple Music apps, NFC payments, a large smartwatch app ecosystem or consistently precise wrist heart rate during fast intervals. In those cases, look at the PACE Pro, a suitable Garmin or another mapping-capable sports watch, and consider an external heart-rate strap when accuracy matters more than convenience.
