Verdict: The COROS PACE Pro remains a compelling training-focused GPS watch if you want a large, bright AMOLED display, onboard maps and fast navigation without giving up multi-day battery life. Its headline 38-hour figure applies to All Systems GPS with Always-On Display disabled—not Dual-Frequency GPS, music playback or every real-world setting. In 2026, the newer COROS PACE 4 is the more attractive choice when lower weight, newer features and longer stated GPS endurance matter more than the PACE Pro’s larger screen and maps.
What the COROS PACE Pro actually is
COROS announced the PACE Pro on October 31, 2024, at a U.S. launch price of $349, with Black, Grey and Blue versions available the same day. It was introduced as a faster, AMOLED-equipped evolution of the lightweight PACE running-watch line.
The PACE Pro is primarily a training computer rather than a general-purpose smartwatch. It is aimed at runners, triathletes, cyclists, hikers and other athletes who value training metrics, GPS tracking, maps, battery life and physical controls more than contactless payments, extensive third-party apps or rich communication features. The 1.3-inch AMOLED display is the biggest everyday upgrade
The PACE Pro has a 1.3-inch AMOLED touchscreen with Always-On capability and brightness of up to 1,500 nits. It is larger than the PACE 3’s display and offers stronger contrast, more vivid colors and clearer-looking maps and workout data.

That makes the difference especially noticeable indoors, in low light and when viewing detailed navigation screens. The screen is a more tangible upgrade than a processor specification: menus, data fields and maps simply look more modern and easier to read.
The trade-off is power consumption. COROS says lighter screen colors can use as much as three times more power than darker colors. Brightness, screen behavior, backlight use and Always-On settings therefore have a direct effect on endurance. Always-On AMOLED is not a minor toggle: COROS’s estimates fall from 38 to 28 hours in All Systems GPS mode and from 31 to 24 hours in Dual-Frequency GPS mode when it is enabled. COROS PACE Pro FAQs
What the Ambiq Apollo510 processor changes
The watch uses Ambiq’s Apollo510 processor. COROS claims more than twice the processor performance of the PACE 3, three times the RAM, faster Wi-Fi and substantially faster map and graphic rendering. In practical terms, the processor upgrade is intended to provide quicker menus, smoother transitions, faster map interaction and better support for the PACE Pro’s more graphical AMOLED interface. It may provide additional headroom for software, but it should not be treated as a guarantee of longer-term support.
The processor itself does not automatically make GPS more accurate. Tracking performance depends mainly on the satellite chipset, antenna and hardware configuration, software, surroundings and satellite coverage.
Understanding the 38-hour GPS claim
The PACE Pro’s best-known specification is its advertised 38-hour GPS battery life. That figure is specifically COROS’s estimate for All Systems GPS with Always-On Display disabled. It is not a universal runtime for every GPS mode and feature combination.

These are estimated figures, not race guarantees. Navigation, music, external sensors, frequent backlight use, high brightness, weak or lost satellite signals and other settings can increase consumption. There is another important detail for ultrarunners and long-distance hikers: the PACE Pro does not offer a conventional Standard GPS mode. COROS says it chose to make All Systems GPS sufficiently efficient while prioritizing more precise tracking. That means the watch has a strong headline endurance figure, but not the lower-power GPS tier some athletes expect for the longest events.

GPS, maps and navigation
The PACE Pro supports All Systems and Dual-Frequency satellite modes, global maps and turn-by-turn navigation. The newer satellite hardware is designed to improve tracking in difficult environments such as cities, dense tree cover and mountainous terrain.
Dual-Frequency GPS can be useful where reflected or obstructed signals make positioning difficult, but its stated battery life is lower than All Systems GPS. COROS describes the PACE Pro as delivering its most precise GPS performance yet, while also noting that its comparison track used beta-test data and that results vary with surroundings and satellite coverage. It is more accurate to call this a stronger GPS hardware and software platform than to promise the best accuracy in every environment.
Training and smartwatch features
The PACE Pro’s strengths are concentrated in COROS’s training ecosystem. Supported features include:

It does not compete with smartwatch-first products on payments, broad app support, streaming music services, voice assistants or advanced communications. Its identity is that of a training watch with basic smartwatch functions.
Design, weight and charging
The PACE Pro weighs 37 grams with the optional nylon band and uses 22-mm quick-release band compatibility. Its lightweight construction makes it more appealing for running than many larger rugged outdoor watches, although its 46-mm-class form factor may still feel large on a small wrist.
The watch can be charged while recording an activity. COROS supplies a watch-side charging adapter, but the USB-C cable itself is not included. COROS recommends an LPS-compliant charger and warns against quick-charge power banks. COROS charging guidance
Optical heart-rate and SpO2 monitoring are included, but wrist-sensor quality still depends on fit. A loose or poorly positioned watch can produce unreliable readings regardless of the sensor hardware.

For a PACE 3 owner, the upgrade case is strongest if the display, maps and responsiveness matter. The PACE Pro adds the larger AMOLED screen, faster processor platform, more graphical map experience and newer satellite hardware. It is not automatically a better training watch simply because it has a faster processor; the value lies in the overall interface and navigation experience.

PACE 3 owners who are satisfied with the existing display, do not use maps and have no complaints about performance may see less benefit. The PACE Pro’s AMOLED also introduces more demanding power behavior, particularly with Always-On enabled.

The PACE 4 is now the most important internal alternative. COROS lists it at 32 grams with a nylon band, up to 41 hours in its stated High All Systems mode and 19 days of daily use. It also adds newer features such as voice recording and a built-in microphone. COROS PACE 4

If prices are close, the PACE 4 is generally the better default for buyers who do not need the PACE Pro’s larger screen or maps. The PACE Pro becomes more persuasive when it is meaningfully discounted and those features are central to the purchase. Verify the live price and stock on the official COROS product page; the $349 figure is the original U.S. launch MSRP, not necessarily the current selling price.

- Runners: Choose it for AMOLED readability, detailed training data and fast controls.
- Trail runners and hikers: Choose it for onboard global maps, turn-by-turn navigation and Dual-Frequency GPS.
- Triathletes and multisport users: It offers a training-focused interface, physical controls and substantial multi-day endurance.
- PACE 3 owners: Upgrade when display quality, map use or interface speed is a real priority.
- Ultrarunners: Consider it only after checking your expected duration and GPS mode; there is no conventional Standard GPS setting, and music or Always-On use cuts the estimate substantially.
Who should skip it?
- Buyers who want the longest possible battery life from a lower-power MIP display.
- People who require contactless payments, extensive third-party apps, streaming services or advanced communications.
- Small-wrist users who dislike a 46-mm-class case.
- Recent COROS owners who do not need AMOLED, maps or faster interface performance.
- PACE 4 shoppers who prioritize lower weight, newer features and longer stated GPS endurance.
Small but useful ownership details
AMOLED camera artifacts are not necessarily a defective panel. COROS says the display refresh rate and camera shutter can create black horizontal lines in photographs or interfere with scanning the startup QR code. Trying a darker environment or changing the camera angle can help.
Also, “Always-On AMOLED” does not mean the screen is permanently running at maximum brightness. Brightness and display behavior still affect battery life.
Final verdict
The COROS PACE Pro was a significant step beyond the PACE 3 because it combined a genuinely more readable AMOLED display, faster map interaction and upgraded GPS hardware with strong battery estimates. Its 38-hour claim is credible only in the specific All Systems GPS, Always-On-off configuration supplied by COROS; Dual-Frequency, music, navigation and an active display reduce it.
In 2026, buy the PACE Pro when its current price is clearly below launch MSRP and you specifically want its larger screen and maps. Choose the PACE 4 when the prices are similar and you value lower weight, newer convenience features and longer stated GPS endurance. The PACE Pro remains a capable sports watch, but it is no longer the automatic choice in COROS’s lightweight lineup.
