Most smart rings are designed to disappear. The Diesel Ultrahuman Ring takes the opposite approach, pairing Ultrahuman’s wellness-tracking platform with Diesel’s prominent Double-D styling, industrial finishes and branded accessories.
Introduced in late 2025, it is best understood as a design-led collaboration rather than a new sensor breakthrough. The central question is whether Cryo or Phantom styling is worth paying substantially more than the standard Ultrahuman Ring AIR—and whether you can actually buy one in your market.

What is the Diesel Ultrahuman Ring?
The Diesel Ultrahuman Ring is a limited-edition collaboration between Diesel and Ultrahuman. It is available in two finishes: Cryo, a bright, icy silver look, and Phantom, a darker distressed finish intended to look worn-in and industrial.
The Diesel identity is deliberately visible. The ring carries the brand’s Double-D motif and comes with a Diesel-branded red charger and USB-C-to-USB-C cable. That makes it different from the usual smart-ring approach, where the hardware is meant to resemble anonymous minimalist jewellery.

Ultrahuman describes the edition as manually crafted and inspected for its distinctive finish. The result is fashion technology first and discreet health hardware second.
What is genuinely new?
The new elements are the exterior design, Diesel branding, packaging and limited-edition positioning. The official product pages list the same broad categories of wellness functions associated with Ultrahuman’s existing ecosystem.
There is no evidence in the reviewed official pages that the Diesel edition introduces a fundamentally new sensor platform, superior accuracy or new clinical capabilities. T3 described it as an Ultrahuman Ring AIR under the hood, but that comparison should be treated as reported coverage rather than an independently verified hardware teardown.
In practical terms, the premium buys a more conspicuous object—not demonstrably different health measurements.
What does it track?
According to Ultrahuman, the ring and its app provide insights relating to:
- Sleep score and sleep patterns
- Recovery
- Movement and physical activity
- Stress-related trends
- Heart rate and resting heart rate
- Heart-rate variability
- Skin temperature
- Blood oxygen
- Cycle and ovulation insights
The listed hardware includes infrared photoplethysmography sensors, red, green and infrared LEDs for heart-rate-related measurements, a medical-grade non-contact skin-temperature sensor and six-axis motion sensors. Connectivity uses Bluetooth Low Energy 5, and firmware updates are delivered through the Ultrahuman app. Full specifications are on Ultrahuman’s buying page.

“Medical-grade” describes the manufacturer’s temperature-sensor specification. It does not mean the entire ring is a medical device, nor does it make the ring a substitute for clinical monitoring or medical advice.
Design, size and physical specifications
The outer shell uses titanium with a tungsten-carbide carbon coating, while the inner shell uses medical-grade hypoallergenic epoxy resin. The ring is:
- 8.2 mm wide
- Approximately 3.4–4.2 mm thick, depending on size
- Approximately 2.9–4.1 g, depending on size
- Fitted with a rechargeable, non-replaceable 24 mAh lithium-polymer battery
Ultrahuman lists sizes 5 through 14, with no half sizes. A sizing kit is strongly recommended: a smart ring needs consistent sensor contact, and a conventional jewellery size is not a reliable substitute. Existing Ring R1 or Ring AIR owners may find their previous size useful as a reference, but Ultrahuman still recommends checking the current sizing process.
Battery, water resistance and compatibility
The headline claim is “up to six days” of battery life. The more detailed specification gives a range of four to six days, so six days should be treated as a best-case ceiling rather than a guarantee. Charging from empty to full takes approximately 180 minutes, and the battery cannot be replaced by the user.
The global product page claims water resistance to 100 metres / 328 feet. That is not permission to assume unlimited protection from hot tubs, harsh chemicals or every type of diving. Follow the manufacturer’s usage guidance for specific activities.
Compatibility is listed as iOS 15 or later and Android 6 or later.

Price and availability
Availability is the most important update to the original launch story, which was published on December 11, 2025. As of the current regional listings checked in August 2026, an Ultrahuman storefront lists the Diesel edition at approximately $499, compared with approximately $349 for the standard Ring AIR.
Launch coverage reported pricing of £469 in the UK and €559 in Europe. These figures should not be treated as a single global price: taxes, duties, currency conversion, shipping and regional stock can all change the final cost.
There is also a significant regional catch. Ultrahuman’s U.S. buying page currently says the Diesel ring is not available in the United States. A regional buying page lists estimated shipping of approximately six to eight weeks, depending on size. Check the storefront for your country before relying on an international price or assuming direct delivery.

The approximately $150 difference is the value decision. The Diesel model makes sense if its styling, exclusivity and visible branding are central to the purchase. If the goal is simply to access Ultrahuman’s tracking platform, the Ring AIR is the more rational choice.

Ultrahuman says core ring data is available without a mandatory recurring subscription. That is a meaningful advantage for buyers comparing smart rings, but it does not mean every feature is permanently included.
Some advanced functions are sold separately as PowerPlugs. The official shop lists examples including Cycle & Ovulation Plus at approximately $39.99 for one year and Cardio Adaptability at approximately $24 for one year, before tax in the displayed market. Prices and names may vary by region.

UltrahumanX is separate again: it is a protection product for issues such as damage, loss and theft, not a data subscription. The shop lists example prices of $36 for one year or $54 for two years in the displayed market.

The right comparison depends on priorities rather than a universal winner:
- Oura Ring 4: a well-established sleep and recovery ecosystem, with subscription considerations that buyers should check separately.
- Samsung Galaxy Ring: particularly relevant to Samsung Galaxy users who value integration with that ecosystem.
- RingConn: a subscription-free alternative for buyers focused more heavily on value.
- Ultrahuman Ring AIR: the direct lower-cost alternative to the Diesel edition.
- Ultrahuman Ring PRO: listed at about $479 in the same regional shop, making it a particularly awkward internal comparison for buyers who prioritise newer premium hardware positioning over Diesel styling.
Similar sensor categories do not prove equivalent accuracy, app quality or interpretation. The available product specifications are not enough to claim that the Diesel ring is better than Oura, Samsung, RingConn or Ring AIR.
Who should buy it?
Buy it if:
- You want a smart ring that looks intentionally visible rather than anonymous.
- Diesel’s industrial styling appeals more than minimalist jewellery.
- You value Ultrahuman’s subscription-free core-data model.
- You are comfortable paying for design, collectability and manual finishing.
Skip it if:
- You want the best health-tracking value per dollar.
- You prefer an understated ring that works with every outfit.
- You are in the U.S. and need immediate official availability.
- You expect different or superior sensors to those in the standard Ultrahuman platform.
- You need validated medical monitoring rather than consumer wellness insights.
- You do not want a non-replaceable battery that needs charging every few days.
Verdict
The Diesel Ultrahuman Ring is significant because it makes smart-ring design louder. It treats the device as branded fashion jewellery instead of a health tracker that should disappear.
That is a credible reason to buy—but it is not a technical breakthrough. At roughly $499 in one regional storefront, compared with roughly $349 for the Ring AIR, the premium is primarily for Diesel’s Double-D identity, distinctive finishing and limited-edition appeal. For everyone else, the standard Ultrahuman platform—or a competing ring chosen for its ecosystem, compatibility and value—will be the more defensible purchase.
