Galaxy Wearable 2.2.29.20012861 is a genuine archived Samsung release for Android, but it is not the current Galaxy Wearable app. APKMirror lists the 5.99 MB APK as uploaded on February 7, 2020, with a minimum Android requirement of 4.3 (API 18). Use the exact APKMirror archive page only when you specifically need this legacy version; otherwise, install the current app from Google Play.

APKMirror’s release history lists newer Galaxy Wearable releases, including version 2.2.70.26060861 uploaded in July 2026. Version 2.2.29.20012861 should therefore be treated as an archived compatibility build, not the latest version.

Galaxy Wearable is the phone-side companion app for Samsung watches, fitness bands and some earbuds. Depending on the connected product and available plug-ins, it can manage:

The list is not a guarantee of compatibility. The actual result can depend on the precise model, phone, Android release, region, carrier, Samsung account, Google Mobile Services and the availability of the required plug-in.
Who should avoid this old APK?
- Galaxy Watch4 and newer Wear OS watches: use the current Galaxy Wearable installation and Samsung’s supported setup process.
- Users without a specific legacy-device problem: the current app is safer and more practical.
- Modern Android users: the old target SDK, permissions and background behavior may cause warnings or failures.
- iPhone users: this is an Android APK. Samsung’s current Wear OS Galaxy watches are not compatible with iOS.
- Tablet users: do not assume support merely because the APK can install; Samsung’s compatibility depends on the product and device configuration.
Samsung’s current guidance says compatible phones for supported Galaxy Watch setups generally require Android 6.0 or later, at least 1.5 GB of RAM and Google Mobile Services. A matching signature and hash are useful integrity checks. They are not an absolute guarantee that an old application is secure today or that its online services will continue to work. Do not download a modified APK, a “premium” version, or a file supplied through a pop-up or unrelated mirror.

Verify the file before installing
After downloading, calculate the SHA-256 hash and compare it with the APKMirror value above. On Linux or Windows with a suitable command-line environment:

How to install the APK
Sideloading should be a fallback, not the default installation method.

- Try the official app first. Install Galaxy Wearable from Google Play if your device is currently supported.
- Back up important data. Pairing changes, app removal or a watch reset can affect locally stored settings and data.
- Download the standard APK. Use the exact APKMirror page and confirm that the file is an APK, not an
.apkm,.xapkor split package. - Open the file. Find it in the phone’s Downloads folder and tap it.
- Allow installation from that source. On many Samsung phones, the setting is under Settings → Security and privacy → More security settings → Install unknown apps. Select the browser or file manager that opened the APK. Labels vary by Android and One UI version.
- Install and open Galaxy Wearable. Grant only the permissions needed for the specific wearable.
- Install the required plug-in. Follow the in-app prompt for the watch, band or earbud manager component.
- Pair from Galaxy Wearable. Turn on Bluetooth and follow the setup prompts rather than pairing only from Android’s Bluetooth menu.
The archived build lists permissions associated with location, storage, phone and contacts. Android may display or classify these differently on newer releases. Some permissions may be necessary for discovery, notifications or calling features, while others depend on the connected device.

Why installing the main APK may not be enough
Galaxy Wearable uses device-specific plug-ins and Samsung services. The host app can install successfully while setup still fails with messages such as:
- “Device not supported”
- “Install the latest version”
- Failure to discover the wearable
- A plug-in download loop
- Samsung account sign-in failure
- Bluetooth pairing that never completes setup
- A connection that works only as basic Bluetooth audio or data
- Missing watch faces, notifications, health features or updates
An old host APK cannot guarantee that the matching plug-in remains available or that Samsung’s current backend will accept the older client. Sideloading is not a reliable way to bypass server-side compatibility rules.
Troubleshooting
“App not installed”
Common causes include an existing newer Galaxy Wearable installation, a damaged download, insufficient storage, a signature mismatch, a security policy or an incompatible Android environment.

- Cancel the installation and confirm that the download is a standard APK.
- Check the SHA-256 hash.
- If a newer Galaxy Wearable version is installed, understand that Android normally will not replace it with an older same-package build. Uninstalling the newer app may remove its local configuration.
- Restart the phone and try again.
- If the old release is unnecessary, reinstall the current version from Google Play.
“This app was built for an older version of Android”
This warning is consistent with the APK’s age and Android 9 target SDK; it does not by itself prove that the file is malicious. It does signal that modern Android may restrict some permissions, background tasks or installation behavior.
Pairing fails
- Check Bluetooth and the permissions for nearby devices and location where applicable.
- Restart both the phone and wearable.
- Remove the wearable from Android’s Bluetooth settings.
- Clear Galaxy Wearable’s cache and data.
- Reinstall the required device plug-in.
- Try pairing again from inside Galaxy Wearable.
- Reset the wearable only as a last resort, because this can erase local data.
- Try the current Galaxy Wearable release if Samsung still supports the device.
The app demands an update
This can mean that the plug-in, Samsung account service or backend now requires a newer client. Version 2.2.29.20012861 cannot necessarily override that requirement.
How to roll back to the current app
- Open Settings → Apps → Galaxy Wearable.
- Tap Uninstall. If Android offers to remove updates rather than the whole app, follow the displayed option.
- Remove obsolete device plug-ins if they prevent a clean reinstall.
- Restart the phone.
- Install Galaxy Wearable again from Google Play or the Galaxy Store.
- Pair the wearable again and reinstall any required official plug-ins.
Menus differ by phone and Android version. If the old installation changed local settings, you may need to configure the wearable again.
