Verdict: The Epson ProSense 367 was a capable endurance-focused GPS multisport watch, but it is a conditional used buy in 2026. Its physical buttons, sapphire lens, long original GPS rating and extensive workout metrics remain useful. The bigger risks are a nine-year-old battery, aging seals and uncertain Epson View app and cloud support. Buy only a cheap, fully tested example after confirming that pairing and synchronization still work in your country.

What the ProSense 367 actually is

The ProSense 367 is primarily a standalone GPS training watch, not an Apple Watch-style smartwatch. It has built-in GPS, wrist optical heart-rate monitoring, a three-axis accelerometer, five physical buttons, Bluetooth Smart and USB connectivity. Its 1.1-inch, 240-by-240 EasyView electronic-paper-style display and sapphire-glass lens were designed for outdoor training. Epson also included vibration and sound alerts, limited phone notifications and music controls.

There is no evidence of a modern app store, cellular connection, touchscreen interface, contactless payments, voice assistant or broad smartwatch application platform. Epson positioned the 367 above the similar ProSense 347 mainly by fitting sapphire glass instead of mineral glass. The original launch announcement listed a $399 MSRP in 2017 (Epson launch announcement).

Design and everyday usability

Why the hardware still appeals

  • Physical buttons are easier to operate during hard efforts, in rain or while wearing gloves.
  • A high-contrast monochrome display should suit bright outdoor conditions better than a glossy screen, although visibility still needs to be checked on the individual unit.
  • Sapphire is substantially more scratch-resistant than the 347’s mineral lens.
  • A long original battery rating reduces charging interruptions on extended activities.

Where it feels dated

  • The case is about 15.7 mm thick and weighs roughly 64 g, sizeable by current running-watch standards.
  • The monochrome display, button menus and backlight are technologically old compared with modern AMOLED watches.
  • Notifications and music controls are basic rather than a full smartwatch experience.

The original 10-bar rating should not be treated as a guarantee for an old unit. Seals age, and unknown water exposure is a reason to avoid swimming with a used example.

GPS, workout modes and training tools

Supported activities include outdoor running, walking, treadmill, cycling, indoor cycling, pool swimming, open-water swimming, triathlon, indoor running and other indoor or outdoor activities. The Epson View app was intended to change which modes appear and their order (Epson workout-mode documentation).

Mode How it works
Outdoor run, walk and bike GPS-based distance, pace or speed, route and elevation-related data
Treadmill, indoor run and indoor bike Onboard stride or motion sensors; no GPS route
Pool swim Epson lists lengths, distance, pace, stroke-related metrics, SWOLF and calories
Open-water swim Epson lists distance, pace, time and calories
Triathlon Rapid switching among the relevant sport modes

Training features include distance, pace, speed, time, elevation change, calories, cadence, stride length, intervals, target pace, race mode, heart-rate zones, metronome, auto-pause, manual and automatic laps, customizable workout screens, waypoint navigation, training effect, recovery time, VO2 max estimates and race-time predictions (Epson product specifications). VO2 max, recovery, training effect, calorie burn and race predictions are algorithmic estimates, not laboratory measurements. The available documentation establishes intended functions, not independent GPS, elevation, heart-rate or swim accuracy.

Starting an outdoor workout

  1. From the Time screen, press Down.
  2. Select Run, Walk, Bike or another outdoor mode.
  3. Press Start/Stop.
  4. Wait for GPS positioning to complete.
  5. Press Start/Stop again to begin recording.
  6. Stop and save the activity with the on-screen controls.

GPS cannot position indoors. Buildings, trees and other obstructions can delay or weaken reception, and skipping positioning can make distance inaccurate. For a first acquisition, or after months unused, Epson recommends staying outdoors and still for about 15 minutes. The Epson View AGPS function was designed to shorten later acquisition times (GPS acquisition guidance).

Heart rate and daily tracking

The wrist sensor supports workout heart-rate measurements and continuous activity data such as steps, distance, calories, active time and sleep. Continuous heart-rate measurement uses more power (Epson activity documentation). Wrist optical readings can be less dependable during intervals, cold weather, a loose fit, high-impact movement or cycling. If the specific unit supports a compatible chest strap, that is the better option for demanding interval or race data. Sleep recording and other continuous features should be confirmed in the software rather than assumed.

Battery life: excellent on paper, uncertain used

Epson rated the watch for up to 46 hours with GPS and heart rate, 50 hours with GPS without heart rate and up to 60 days in watch mode. Its support tables also describe roughly 17–50 hours of workout operation and about 6–60 days of continuous time display under different settings and conditions. Frequent measurements, backlight use, poor GPS reception and other settings reduce those figures (Epson battery guidance).

A lithium-ion battery originally shipped in 2017 should not be judged by those maximums. Before buying, request:

  • A photo of the battery percentage before and after a known 30–60 minute GPS workout.
  • Proof that the watch reaches a full charge and does not suddenly fall from a high percentage to empty.
  • The original charging cable or a confirmed compatible replacement.
  • Confirmation that it was not stored flat for years.

Epson recommends charging an unused watch at least every six months because long storage at low charge can damage battery performance (Epson storage guidance). No current battery test or replacement guarantee is established here.

Epson View, synchronization and support in 2026

The original setup required a compatible iPhone or Android phone, Bluetooth, the Epson View app, an Epson View account and personal data such as height, weight, gender, date and time. The app handled pairing, workout-screen customization, activity review, firmware updates and synchronization (Epson user guide).

This software dependency is now the largest buying risk. An official Epson Japan notice says Epson View, related mobile and PC applications and associated cloud services ended there on March 31, 2025; downloads and parts or repair support were also being phased out (Epson Japan service notice). That is strong evidence of lifecycle risk, but it is a Japan-region notice, not proof that every U.S. or other regional function has stopped.

Before purchase, verify in your own country and phone ecosystem:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Whether Epson View is still downloadable and permits a new account.
  • Whether a new watch pairs and synchronizes.
  • Whether workouts can be exported as GPX, FIT or another local file.
  • Whether firmware updates and sport-mode customization still work.
  • Whether historical Strava or Runkeeper transfers still function; launch-era advertising does not prove current operation.

The watch may still record workouts locally if the app disappears, but that cannot be assumed without testing. A device that records but cannot retrieve, back up or share data is much less useful as a primary training platform.

Useful procedures

Restoring Bike mode

This was Epson’s documented historical Epson View path: Epson View → My Watch → Workout → Edit → select Bike → Done → Transfer Settings to Watch → OK. Because current app availability is uncertain, test this before relying on a missing mode.

Setting the time manually

Use Time screen → Enter → Settings → System → Set time → Update Time → Manual. GPS or phone/PC setup could also set the time depending on the configuration (Epson time-setting instructions).

Restarting and resetting

To restart, press Back, Start/Stop, Up and Down simultaneously. A restart keeps most settings and data but may remove current-day activity data. A factory reset is Enter → Settings → System → Reset → Yes and deletes measurements and settings, so preserve data first if synchronization still works (Epson restart and reset instructions).

Used-buying inspection checklist

  • Confirm model E11E223052 and inspect the sapphire lens for chips or deep damage.
  • Test every button, the display, backlight, vibration and sound.
  • Charge fully and observe battery behavior during a GPS workout.
  • Acquire GPS outdoors and record at least 30 minutes.
  • Check the optical heart-rate sensor for a plausible live reading.
  • Inspect the case, charging contacts, band and seals for corrosion or water damage.
  • Pair with your phone and confirm synchronization and export before the return period ends.
  • Make sure the charger is included and obtain a return policy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the ProSense 367 still be used without Epson View?

It may still record activities locally, but the available documentation does not establish which setup, customization, synchronization or export functions continue without the app. Test the exact watch, phone and region before buying.

Is the ProSense 367 safe for swimming?

It was rated 10 bar when new and includes pool and open-water modes, but an old watch’s seals may have deteriorated. Water resistance should not be assumed for an unknown-condition used unit.

Is the 46-hour GPS battery claim realistic in 2026?

It was Epson’s original maximum estimate with specific settings. A 2017 battery may deliver substantially less, so require a demonstrated GPS workout and charging test.
