Facer has returned to Wear OS, and its rebuilt experience is available for Wear OS 6 watches. The comeback uses Google’s Watch Face Format (WFF) and lets you send a selected face from the phone app to your watch. But it is not a full restoration of the older Facer system: only one Facer face can be pushed to a watch at a time, some faces and complications have not migrated, and old purchases may not map neatly to rebuilt versions.
So the key question is not simply whether your watch is listed as compatible. Check its Wear OS version—and whether the specific face you want has been converted.
Why Facer disappeared—and what “back” means
Facer’s earlier Wear OS experience relied on a legacy watch-face system. Google’s move to its newer Watch Face Format changed the requirements for watch faces on current devices. As Wear OS 6 arrived, Facer had to rebuild its approach around WFF rather than simply carry every older face and feature forward.
Facer announced its Wear OS 6 relaunch on May 20, 2025, then expanded availability as Wear OS 6 reached devices. The current version is therefore a real return, but it is a new-generation experience—not a guarantee that every older face, interactive element, or purchase works exactly as before. Facer says legacy watch apps were removed from Google Play on January 14, 2026. Existing installations may continue to work, but installing or buying legacy content on an older watch can be difficult or impossible. Before updating, resetting, or uninstalling Facer on an older watch: check whether you can reinstall the legacy app and its companion components. A factory reset or uninstall may leave you unable to restore an app that is no longer offered for that device.
What the new Facer brings back
Facer says its catalog contains more than 500,000 faces, spanning free and paid designs, licensed collections, and creator-made work. That is the service’s stated catalog size, not a promise that every face is compatible with every watch. Availability depends on the watch model, its software, and whether a designer has made a WFF-compatible version.
On the new platform, you can choose a face in Facer’s phone app and push it to a paired watch using Google’s Watch Face Push capability. Facer describes WFF as a newer rendering system designed for smoother, more efficient operation and improved battery life. Treat those as platform and Facer claims, not as a guarantee of a measurable battery improvement on your particular watch.

Which watches work with Facer?
Facer’s current Play listing names Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 through Watch 8 families, Pixel Watch models, OnePlus Watch 2-series models, Oppo Watch X models, Mobvoi TicWatch models, and Fossil Group watches. The table separates the listed hardware from the software condition that determines what experience you get.

Facer’s current listing is the source for its supported-device list. Regional availability and manufacturer update schedules can differ. If your watch is technically a Wear OS device but is not listed, do not assume it will receive the rebuilt experience.
How to install and sync a face
- Update the watch. Install the latest software available for your specific model. Check the OS version on the watch itself; an updated companion app or manufacturer interface is not proof that the watch runs Wear OS 6.
- Install or update Facer on your Android phone from Google Play, then pair the phone and watch using the manufacturer’s companion app.
- Install Facer on the watch if the setup flow asks you to. Facer’s listing describes a setup involving the phone app and one paired watch.
- Open Facer on the phone and select the paired watch if prompted.
- Choose a face compatible with your watch or the Wear OS 6/WFF experience, then use the app’s sync or apply control.
- If the face does not become active immediately, open the watch’s face picker and select the newly synced face. Depending on the watch, the face may appear by its own name rather than under one generic “Facer” entry.
- Grant requested permissions if they are needed for complications supported by that face.
To switch to another Facer face, use the phone app to send it. The old three-tap face-switching behavior is not part of the new workflow. Setup wording and picker screens can vary between manufacturers and software versions.

What changed in the Wear OS 6 version?
- One Facer face at a time: Facer says current Wear OS 6 limitations allow only one Facer face to be pushed to a watch at once. To change, send another from the phone app.
- Faces may appear individually in the watch picker: Do not expect one permanent generic Facer tile on every watch. The synced face itself may be the selectable item.
- Some complications or data may be missing: Facer lists location, phone-battery, sunrise/sunset, and other data complications among the features that may not carry over. A missing item can reflect WFF limitations or an unrecreated feature—not necessarily a fault with the watch.
- Some interactive features are gone or different: Certain interactions and the legacy three-tap switching behavior may not migrate. The preview-before-purchase experience has also changed.
- Performance claims are not a battery guarantee: Facer describes the newer format as more efficient, but actual battery life varies by watch, face, settings, and use.

What happens to old Facer purchases?
Purchases remain associated with your Facer account, according to Facer, but that does not mean every purchased face will be available or behave identically on a new watch. Compatibility depends on the watch and OS, whether the designer migrated the face, and whether the new listing is a rebuilt product rather than the original file.
If a face appears in the catalog but not in your purchase history, Facer says it may have been recreated as a separate version while the original remains available for older watches. Its support team may review affected purchases and, in some cases, offer Premium access or an updated equivalent depending on licensing and other circumstances. That is not a blanket promise of automatic replacement or a refund. Contact support with the account email or ID, watch model, OS version, and the names of the affected faces.

Is Facer free, and is Premium worthwhile?
Facer includes free faces, individually paid designs, and a Premium subscription. On Facer’s website, the prices shown on August 18, 2026 were US$4.99 per month or US$39.99 per year (about US$3.33 per month). The page lists premium-face access and ad-free use; the Year Pass also includes a 50% watch-band discount. Prices, taxes, introductory offers, renewal terms, and app-store prices can vary by region and platform, so check the checkout screen before subscribing. See Facer Premium.
- Stick with free faces if you are exploring the app or rarely change designs.
- Consider individual purchases if you only want one or two specific faces.
- Consider Premium if you regularly rotate through premium designs and the current catalog works with your watch.
Do not subscribe on the assumption that Premium will restore every old purchase or make every face compatible. If you create rather than merely install designs, Facer Creator is a separate tool to explore.
If Facer will not sync: a quick checklist
- Verify the OS: Check the software version on the watch, not just the phone app. Confirm whether it is actually on Wear OS 6.
- Check the face: A legacy catalog entry may not have a WFF version. Try a known-compatible free face to distinguish a face-specific issue from a setup problem.
- Update both apps: Update Facer on the phone and watch.
- Confirm pairing and selection: Make sure the intended watch is paired and selected in the phone app.
- Restart both devices: Reboot the phone and watch, then reopen Facer and retry.
- Look in the watch picker: A successful sync may not automatically activate the face, and it may appear under its own name.
- Do not reset or uninstall legacy components casually: Older apps may no longer be downloadable for your watch.
- Contact Facer support: Provide your account email or ID, watch model, Wear OS version, face names, and a concise description of what failed.

Should you use Facer?
Facer is worth revisiting if you have a supported Wear OS 6 watch and want a large catalog of independent, premium, or licensed designs. Its phone-to-watch syncing restores an easy route to third-party faces, but the one-face-at-a-time limit and incomplete migration are meaningful trade-offs if you relied on rapid switching or specific complications.
If you own an older watch, first verify what can still be installed before removing anything. If a particular purchased face is the reason you are returning, confirm that its WFF version exists before paying for Premium. The deciding factors are your watch’s actual OS, the face’s conversion status, and whether the new workflow suits you—not simply whether your model name appears on a list.
