Yes, Freedom Mobile ran this offer—but it was a time-limited 2024 promotion, not a no-strings free watch. Customers who pre-ordered an iPhone 16-series phone in a store could get a 42mm cellular Apple Watch Series 10 through 24 months of bill credits, provided they also met the plan, watch-line and financing conditions. The reported deadline was October 31, 2024, so treat the offer as expired unless Freedom confirms a current version.

What the promotion included
MobileSyrup reported that Freedom Mobile offered a 42mm aluminum Apple Watch Series 10 with cellular connectivity to customers who pre-ordered any iPhone 16 or iPhone 16 Pro-series model. The reported colours were Jet Black, Rose Gold and Aluminum, subject to stock. The coverage did not establish that the offer included a 46mm watch, a different case material or an upgraded configuration.

The phone models covered were iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. The reported offer was in-store only; an online pre-order should not be assumed to have qualified. MobileSyrup’s September 2024 report is the source for the promotion details below.

Eligibility checklist
- Pre-order an eligible iPhone 16-series model at a Freedom Mobile store.
- Take a qualifying wireless plan. The reported minimum was Freedom’s Canada/U.S./Mexico 100GB 5G plan with 30GB of Roam Beyond data.
- Add the separate $10-per-month Apple Watch cellular plan.
- Finance the qualifying watch through Freedom within 30 days, as reported.
- Complete the transaction by October 31, 2024, while supplies lasted.
The available reporting does not fully establish whether every existing-customer upgrade qualified or whether the offer was restricted by activation type. A customer considering a similar promotion should ask the carrier to confirm eligibility and provide the full terms in writing before ordering.
How “free” worked
The watch was financed, then offset by monthly account credits—not simply handed over with no service commitment. The reported credit was $28 per month for 24 months, or $672 in total. The report put the watch’s approximate value at $679, so the credits were described as effectively covering the eligible watch. That is not proof of a $0 checkout price, and the small difference between the stated value and credits should not be ignored.
The credit depended on maintaining the relevant financing and service conditions. If a customer cancelled, changed to an ineligible plan or otherwise stopped qualifying before the term ended, future credits could stop while a device balance remained. The promotion’s exact early-cancellation and plan-change consequences should be checked in the applicable agreement.
What the monthly bill could look like
The clearest reported individual charges were a $10 monthly Apple Watch line and phone financing examples on MyTab. The phone amounts below are historical promotion examples, not current Freedom prices:

There is a material inconsistency in the original report’s service totals: one calculation gives $65 per month for the first 18 months and $75 for the last six; another describes the combined phone-and-watch service as $75 for 18 months and $80 for six. The report also says its service totals exclude phone financing. Because those totals do not reconcile cleanly, they should not be treated as a definitive bill quote.

The stated $65 plan figure was described as including a $5 autopay discount, a further $5 monthly promotion for 18 months, and the $10 watch plan. A customer’s actual charge would depend on how the qualifying plan price and discounts were applied. The report gave an approximately $122 monthly total for an iPhone 16, watch and both plans, but that estimate inherits the discrepancy and excludes taxes and connection fees. Higher-tier iPhones cost more according to the listed financing examples.
For a reliable comparison, separate the bill into four parts: the wireless plan after discounts, the $10 watch service line, phone financing, and watch financing less any credit actually received. Then add applicable taxes, activation charges, prorated amounts and any upfront payment. Do not assume the first bill contains the same credits or partial-month charges as later bills.
Upfront fees and two-year commitment
The report cited a $45 connection fee for the phone and another $45 for the watch, or $90 before tax in total. Thus “free” did not mean free to activate. The reported offer ran until October 31, 2024, while supplies lasted; the 30-day period to finance the watch was a separate condition, not an extension of the general promotion deadline.
To compare the offer’s overall cost, use this framework rather than the headline:
(qualifying phone-plan cost + watch-line cost + phone financing + watch financing) over the term − watch credits actually received + fees and taxes

This also makes the trade-off visible: the watch credit had value chiefly for someone who already wanted the qualifying phone, plan and cellular watch service for the commitment period. Someone choosing a more expensive plan only to obtain a watch may spend more overall than buying a watch separately.

Do not substitute a TradeUp price into the historical MyTab example or assume both options lead to ownership. Is the deal available now?
The 2024 offer’s reported deadline has passed. Freedom’s Apple device catalogue has shown the iPhone 16 and newer Apple Watch models, including Series 11, rather than the original Series 10 giveaway. Catalogue listings can change, so check Freedom directly for current offers—but do not treat the old promotion as active.

Those headlines do not establish that the later terms matched the 2024 offer, or that any version remains available today. Who would have benefited most?
The promotion was most compelling for someone already planning to buy an iPhone 16, wanting a cellular Apple Watch, comfortable with Freedom’s qualifying plan and prepared to keep the arrangement long enough to earn the credits. It was a weaker fit for someone seeking the lowest monthly bill, who did not need watch cellular service, wanted a larger or premium-case watch, preferred an online purchase, or might switch or downgrade before 24 months.
For any comparable carrier offer, compare the full 24-month cost, confirm whether the watch is cellular and which exact size and case are included, ask whether the purchase must be in store, identify all activation fees, and get cancellation, plan-change and credit rules in writing.
