Samsung rates the Galaxy Buds Core for five more hours of combined earbud-and-case playback than the Galaxy Buds3 Pro when ANC is off: up to 35 hours versus 30. Switch ANC on, though, and the result reverses—the Buds3 Pro is rated for up to 26 hours, compared with 20 for the Core. So the Core wins one specific battery comparison, not every one.
Battery life at a glance
These are Samsung’s published maximum playback ratings, based on its internal testing; real-world results vary with settings and use. “Total” means playback time combining the earbuds with recharges from the case, not continuous listening on one earbud charge.

On Samsung’s ANC-off total-playback ratings, the Core’s 35 hours exceed the Buds3 Pro’s 30 by five hours, or about 16.7%. That could mean an extra day of lighter listening before you need to find a charger, depending on your routine. It does not mean the Core earbuds themselves play five hours longer between trips to the case: Samsung gives the Buds3 Pro a separate earbud-only figure, but its Core page foregrounds combined playback instead.

The Buds3 Pro figures are more specific: up to seven hours from the earbuds and 30 hours total with ANC off. Samsung’s support page uses a different shorthand description for the Buds3 Pro battery totals, so the matched ANC-on and ANC-off comparison here uses Samsung’s detailed launch table.
With ANC on, the Buds3 Pro lasts longer
For ANC-on total playback, Samsung rates the Core at up to 20 hours and the Buds3 Pro at up to 26. That is a six-hour advantage for the Buds3 Pro, or 30% more than the Core’s stated total. Samsung’s figures also show a larger drop between modes for the Core: 35 to 20 hours, versus 30 to 26 for the Buds3 Pro. They establish the difference in the published ratings, but do not identify a specific engineering component as its cause.
This reversal matters if you usually leave noise cancelling on during commutes, flights or noisy workdays. For that use, the Core’s ANC-off headline is the wrong figure to base a purchase on.

Battery capacity is not the same as playback time
The Core’s typical 65mAh earbud cells are larger than the Buds3 Pro’s 53mAh cells, while its 500mAh case is slightly smaller than the Buds3 Pro’s 515mAh case. Those capacity figures describe stored charge; they do not predict runtime on their own. Power use, ANC and microphone activity, wireless conditions, audio settings and other design choices all affect how long a charge lasts. Samsung rates the smaller-cell Buds3 Pro for longer total ANC-on playback.
Keep four different ideas separate when comparing earbud batteries:
- Capacity: the stated charge in the cells, measured in mAh. Samsung lists typical capacities; typical is not the same as rated capacity.
- Earbud-only runtime: playback before the earbuds need to return to the case. Samsung lists this separately for the Buds3 Pro, but not as clearly on the Core page.
- Total playback: earbud runtime plus recharges supplied by the case.
- Everyday runtime: what you actually get, which varies with volume, calls, ANC, codec, signal strength, settings and use.
What the Buds3 Pro adds beyond battery
The Buds3 Pro is the more premium audio option. Samsung lists a two-way speaker system and dual amplifiers, as well as 360 Audio and support for 24-bit/96kHz UHQ audio on compatible Galaxy devices and software configurations. Those higher-resolution features depend on the device, One UI version and app support; they are not a universal benefit with every phone.

The Core is a lower-tier model that still includes ANC, ambient sound, Bluetooth 5.4 and IP54 protection. Samsung lists AAC, SBC and Samsung Scalable Codec support. Its product page also specifies Android 11 or later and at least 1.5GB of memory for advanced Galaxy Wearable settings. Galaxy AI features depend on compatible Galaxy devices, account login, supported languages and regional availability. These product-page specifications do not make the Core a like-for-like substitute for the Buds3 Pro’s audio hardware and premium features.

Choose the Galaxy Buds Core for quiet listening and ANC-off endurance
The Core is the more compelling battery choice if you usually listen at home, in a quiet office or elsewhere with ANC disabled, and your priority is maximum combined playback. It is also worth considering if its price in your market is substantially below the Buds3 Pro and its feature set meets your needs. Samsung’s cited Core product listings are for India and the Gulf, so check local availability rather than assuming it is sold in every country.
Choose the Galaxy Buds3 Pro for frequent ANC use or premium audio features
The Buds3 Pro is the stronger fit if you expect to use ANC most of the time, want Samsung’s published earbud-only runtime figures, or value the two-way speakers, dual amplifiers, 360 Audio and supported UHQ audio. A discount could also make it the better buy if the price gap narrows; current prices depend on market and promotion.

Consider the Buds4 Pro if you want the newest premium generation
Samsung introduced the Galaxy Buds4 Pro and Buds4 on February 26, 2026, so the Buds3 Pro is no longer its newest premium generation. If you are shopping for Samsung’s latest high-end earbuds, compare the Buds4 Pro in your market rather than treating this Core-versus-Buds3 Pro battery comparison as a complete lineup guide.
Why your results may differ from Samsung’s ratings
The quoted figures are manufacturer maximums, not guaranteed everyday results or independent test measurements. Samsung says actual battery life varies with usage and settings; playback type, volume, calls, Bluetooth signal quality and feature use can all affect endurance. Codec and phone combinations may also differ from Samsung’s test conditions, and firmware updates can change behavior. The ratings are music-playback figures, not a promise of the same time on voice calls.
For a fair comparison, use the same mode on both models: ANC off against ANC off, or ANC on against ANC on. Comparing the Core’s 35-hour ANC-off total with the Buds3 Pro’s 26-hour ANC-on total mixes conditions and obscures the reversal.
