The Samsung Galaxy Buds4 Pro supports head gestures: nod to answer an incoming call and shake your head to reject it. But the charging case has no dedicated speaker to play a locating sound. The gestures are also limited to supported Samsung Galaxy devices, so neither feature story amounts to a universal hands-free or find-my-case solution.
What the head gestures do
Samsung calls the feature Head Gestures. The Buds4 Pro user guide documents two incoming-call actions: nod to answer, or shake your head to reject. Samsung also describes the feature as supporting call management and Bixby interaction, but its published documentation does not establish general head-motion controls for music, volume, noise cancellation or arbitrary phone actions.
In other words, this is a narrow convenience feature—not a complete gesture-control system. It may be useful when your hands are occupied, but it should not be the deciding reason to buy the earbuds unless you also have a compatible phone.

Head Gestures are not available on every phone
Samsung’s feature compatibility matrix, dated March 3, 2026, lists Head Gestures for supported Samsung Galaxy devices. It does not list the feature for other Android phones—even if Galaxy Wearable is installed—or for iPhone, PC, game consoles and other non-Galaxy Bluetooth devices. Check your exact Galaxy model and software before relying on the feature; Samsung may change compatibility with later updates.
On supported Galaxy phones, Buds settings are integrated into the device settings. Installing Galaxy Wearable on an unsupported Android phone does not unlock Head Gestures. The app may still be useful or necessary for other setup, update and diagnostic tasks, depending on your device.

Samsung’s March 3 compatibility table also lists SmartThings Find support for Galaxy and other Android configurations, but not for iOS, PCs or game consoles.
The charging case cannot play its own locating sound
The Buds4 Pro’s earbuds have a two-way speaker system, but that is separate from a speaker in the charging case. Samsung’s published specifications list the earbud speakers and microphones without listing a case speaker; hands-on coverage likewise reports that the case lacks a dedicated speaker for finding it.

That distinction matters when the earbuds are put away and the case is what goes missing. A case speaker could emit a sound on command. Without one, the case itself cannot independently play a locating chime like a speaker-equipped case can. This is a practical tracking omission, not a shortcoming in the Buds4 Pro’s music speakers.
Samsung’s specifications describe the earbud audio hardware, and SoundGuys’ hands-on coverage notes the missing case speaker.

What SmartThings Find can—and cannot—tell you
SmartThings Find can help locate the earbuds in supported configurations, but do not assume that finding the earbuds is the same as making a lost, closed case ring. What can be detected or made to sound depends on factors such as charge, connection, software and whether the earbuds can communicate while inside the case. The available documentation does not establish a guaranteed audible-finding behavior for every case-and-earbud state.
- If the earbuds are outside the case: Samsung’s Find tools may help locate them, depending on their state and your device.
- If the earbuds are inside a lost case: the case has no dedicated speaker of its own. An earbud sound is not a guaranteed substitute, particularly if the earbuds are depleted or cannot communicate.
- If you use an iPhone: the Buds may work as Bluetooth audio accessories, but Samsung’s matrix does not list Head Gestures or SmartThings Find support for iOS.
So “the Buds4 Pro cannot be found” would be too broad. The fair criticism is that the case lacks its own audible locating aid, which makes finding the case less convenient.

Who should buy them?
The Galaxy Buds4 Pro was announced on February 25, 2026, and general availability began March 11, 2026. It is the more compelling choice for someone with a supported Galaxy phone who wants Samsung’s call gestures, Bixby integration and audio features. The earbuds weigh 5.1 g each, and the case weighs 44.3 g; the case is not water-resistant, even though the earbuds are rated IP57.
Think twice if you often misplace your charging case and want it to make a sound. Also look elsewhere if you use an iPhone, PC or unsupported Android phone and expect Samsung’s advanced features to carry across platforms.

For Buds4 Pro owners whose Head Gestures do not appear, first confirm that the connected phone is a supported Galaxy model, then update the phone and earbuds and check the Buds or connected-device settings. Re-pairing may help if the feature remains missing. A loose fit or poor earbud orientation can also make motion detection less consistent; clear, deliberate nods and shakes are a more sensible test than subtle movements.
Samsung’s announcement confirms the product launch, while its compatibility matrix sets out device support. Regional availability and supported models can differ, so check Samsung’s local product and support pages before buying.
