Samsung’s One UI 6 Watch update reached the Galaxy Watch 6 series first, then expanded to the Galaxy Watch 5, Watch 4, Watch 4 Classic, Watch 5 Pro, and Galaxy Watch FE. Samsung announced the wider rollout on November 19, 2024, but it was staged by model, market, carrier, watch connection, and paired phone—not released to every owner simultaneously.
As of August 2026, One UI 6 Watch is an older release rather than Samsung’s current watch software. It remains useful to understand what Watch 4 and Watch 6 owners received and why some features may be missing.
Which Galaxy Watches received One UI 6 Watch?
Samsung’s supported-model list included:
- Galaxy Watch 6
- Galaxy Watch 6 Classic
- Galaxy Watch 5
- Galaxy Watch 5 Pro
- Galaxy Watch 4
- Galaxy Watch 4 Classic
- Galaxy Watch FE
The update brought selected features from the Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra to earlier watches. It did not make the Watch 4 or Watch 6 identical to those newer models. Hardware, regional approval, carrier support, and phone compatibility still determine which functions appear. Samsung’s feature overview describes the update as a selected-feature upgrade.

Samsung introduced the newer software experience with the Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra on July 10, 2024. The broader One UI 6 Watch expansion was announced on November 19, 2024.

The Galaxy Watch 6 family was first in the wider rollout, followed sequentially by older generations. Samsung’s Canadian announcement listed Bluetooth versions of the Watch 4, Watch 5, and Watch 6 for October 2024 availability, with LTE versions targeted for November. Those were rollout targets, not guarantees for every country or model number.
Samsung explicitly warned that availability could vary by market, carrier, model, and paired smartphone. Therefore, there was no single worldwide date on which every Galaxy Watch 4 or Watch 6 received the update. See the global announcement and regional rollout details for Samsung’s original qualifications.
What changed in One UI 6 Watch?
Health and sleep features
Energy Score combines inputs such as sleep, activity, sleeping heart rate, and heart-rate variability into a general wellness and fitness score. Samsung also promoted personalized recommendations powered by Galaxy AI. Energy Score is an informational wellness feature, not a medical diagnosis.
Sleep analysis was expanded with metrics including movement during sleep, sleep latency, heart rate, and respiratory rate. Samsung says the analysis uses an advanced AI algorithm.

- TRACK YOUR NIGHTS. OWN YOUR DAYS: Galaxy Watch9 gives you personalized recommendations and habit-building guidance with Advanced Sleep Coaching.⁶ Plus, Bedtime Guidance⁷ helps you find your optimal bedtime so you can wake up feeling refreshed.
Samsung also expanded its Sleep Apnea feature to more Galaxy Watch models. It can help identify potential signs of moderate to severe sleep apnea; it should not be described as diagnosing the condition. Availability depends on market, regulatory authorization, phone, and Samsung Health Monitor requirements. Anyone concerned about sleep apnea should seek medical evaluation rather than rely on a watch result.
Running and workouts
Race compares current and previous running or cycling performance in real time. Workout Routine lets users combine exercises into a personalized routine.
Watch faces
New watch faces included Spatial Number, Simple Digital, and Ultra Info Board. Samsung’s firmware notes say they can be found through the featured watch-face section of the Galaxy Wearable app and searched using terms such as color, style, and complications.
Interface changes
The update introduced redesigned buttons and toggles, a new default font, refreshed tile graphics, and faster left-to-right or right-to-left swiping through notifications and tiles. A list of ongoing activities can be opened from the bottom of the watch face.

Gestures
One UI 6 Watch expanded Universal gestures for one-handed control. The changelog describes a gesture for returning to the previous screen and says gestures can be used immediately for actions such as incoming calls and alarms.
Suggested replies and phone integration
Supported message notifications can show AI-generated suggested replies. The replies are generated on the phone, and Samsung’s firmware notes require a compatible phone running One UI 6.1.1 or later.
Phone Modes such as Sleep, Exercise, and Theater can also control additional watch settings when paired with a compatible Samsung phone. These may include Always On Display, raise-to-wake, touch-to-wake options, sound mode, and disconnection alerts. Samsung specifies One UI 6.1.1 or later for this functionality.
Battery-saving controls
One UI 6 Watch does not guarantee longer battery life. It does, however, provide more granular controls when Power saving is enabled. Users can limit functions such as workout auto-detection and background heart-rate measurements to reduce consumption. The practical effect depends on the watch’s battery condition, enabled features, and usage.

Samsung and non-Samsung Android phones
Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 6 models can connect to compatible non-Samsung Android phones, but feature support is not identical.

iPhone compatibility
There is no iPhone support for the Wear OS-based Galaxy Watch 4, Watch 5, Watch 6, Watch 7, Watch Ultra, or Watch FE. Samsung says these models rely on Google Play services and are not compatible with iOS. Check Samsung’s compatibility table for the current requirements.
Regional, carrier, and hardware limits
Bluetooth and LTE versions did not necessarily receive the update at the same time. LTE carrier certification can delay availability, while regional regulations can affect health features. The Watch 4 also may not receive every feature shown in demonstrations of the Watch 7 or Watch Ultra.
What to do if the update does not appear
- Confirm the exact model. Check whether the watch is a Watch 4, Watch 4 Classic, Watch 6, or Watch 6 Classic, and note its model number.
- Identify the connection type. Bluetooth and LTE versions can follow different rollout schedules.
- Update Galaxy Wearable. An outdated app can prevent the update screen from showing the latest package.
- Check the connection. Make sure the phone and watch are paired, connected, and close together.
- Charge the watch. A low battery can block installation.
- Check both update paths. Look in Galaxy Wearable and under Settings > Software update on the watch.
- Allow for staged availability. If the watch is an LTE model or uses a carrier-specific variant, the package may arrive later.
- Check Samsung’s model-specific firmware page. Use the exact model number rather than relying on reports about another regional variant.
- Back up before any reset. Do not factory-reset the watch merely because the update is not visible.
Changing the region, sideloading firmware, or resetting the watch is not a normal way to force the update and can create compatibility or data-loss problems.

How to verify the installed build
Firmware numbers vary by model and region. For example, Samsung’s record for one Galaxy Watch 4 variant lists One UI 6 Watch build R870XXU1IXK1, based on Android Wear 6 and released December 11, 2024 with the October 1, 2024 security patch. That is an example of a regional, model-specific build—not a universal number for every Watch 4 or Watch 6.
Samsung’s Watch 4 firmware history and Watch 6 firmware history are better references than a generic build number found in a forum post.
Is One UI 6 Watch still current?
No. As of August 18, 2026, One UI 6 Watch is an earlier release. Samsung’s model-specific firmware histories show later upgrades for individual Watch 4 and Watch 6 variants. If you are checking for the newest available software, use Samsung’s firmware page for your exact model and region rather than assuming One UI 6 Watch is the latest package.
For an otherwise working Watch 4 or Watch 6, the update remains a meaningful software upgrade. But buying a Watch 6 solely to obtain One UI 6 Watch was never necessary: Samsung also extended the release to eligible Watch 4 models. A replacement is more defensible when the existing watch has a failing battery, an unsupported phone, a persistent LTE issue, or hardware features you specifically need.
