Samsung’s One UI 6 Watch rollout began in November 2024, bringing Wear OS 5 and selected newer-watch features to the Galaxy Watch5, Watch5 Pro and Galaxy Watch FE. The release arrived in stages, so its announcement did not mean every owner could download it immediately. As of August 16, 2026, this is a historical rollout: if your watch still does not show the update, check its exact model, paired phone and installed software rather than waiting for the rollout to begin.
Samsung announced the wider rollout on November 19, 2024, starting with the Galaxy Watch6 series and then extending it to older supported models. The Watch5 series received the update before the Watch FE. In the US, distribution was still staged on November 25; reports of the FE update followed in early December. Release timing varied by market, carrier, watch variant and paired smartphone.
One UI 6 Watch is Samsung’s watch interface and software layer, based on Google’s Wear OS 5. It is a major platform update, not simply an update to the Galaxy Wearable phone app. Samsung brought selected features from the Galaxy Watch Ultra and Watch7 to earlier watches; it did not make older models identical to those newer devices.

- Galaxy Watch5, including 40 mm and 44 mm versions
- Galaxy Watch5 Pro
- Galaxy Watch FE
- Galaxy Watch4 and Galaxy Watch4 Classic
- Galaxy Watch6 and Galaxy Watch6 Classic
The eligibility list covers Wear OS-based Galaxy Watch generations beginning with Watch4. It does not include the original Galaxy Watch, Galaxy Watch Active or Galaxy Watch3. The Watch5 Pro is a separate model from the standard Watch5, so check the model name in your watch settings rather than relying on a general “Watch5” label.

Samsung’s One UI 6 Watch overview lists supported models and notes that availability can vary. An eligible watch may still need a compatible phone to pair and use particular features.
What One UI 6 Watch adds
Health and sleep
Energy Score combines measures including sleep, activity, sleeping heart rate and sleeping heart-rate variability into a daily wellness snapshot. The update also adds more detailed sleep analysis, such as movement during sleep, sleep latency, heart rate and respiratory rate, alongside personalized health recommendations powered by Galaxy AI.
Samsung also announced wider availability of its sleep-apnea feature, but that does not mean every Watch5 or FE owner can use it. Availability depends on local regulatory authorization and other device and phone requirements. Samsung describes its health features as intended for general wellness and fitness, not for diagnosing or treating medical conditions. Do not use a watch reading as a substitute for professional medical advice.

Exercise tools
Race compares a current running or cycling effort with a previous performance. Workout Routine lets users combine exercises into a customized sequence. The release also brings other workout and fitness refinements. Feature availability can depend on watch model and software build.
Faces, interface and gestures
One UI 6 Watch introduces watch faces such as Simple Digital and Ultra Info Board, along with refreshed typography and interface elements. Samsung also lists faster horizontal scrolling, a revised ongoing-activity interface, and additional wrist and universal gestures. Individual faces or gesture options may not appear on every model or in every region.
Phone-connected features
Suggested replies can offer message-response options, but Samsung’s compatibility documentation requires a compatible Samsung phone running One UI 6.1.1 or later. Double Pinch gestures can perform actions such as answering calls, dismissing alarms and controlling a phone camera where supported. Connected-device features may work differently with non-Samsung Android phones.

Samsung’s phone and watch compatibility guidance explains further restrictions. Galaxy Watch4, Watch5, Watch6 and Watch FE models are not compatible with iPhones. In the US, Samsung lists Android 8.0 or later and at least 1.5 GB of RAM for Watch5 and Watch5 Pro, and Android 10 or later for Watch FE. Requirements and feature availability can differ by region.

Use either of Samsung’s update paths:
- From the paired phone: Open Galaxy Wearable, go to Watch settings, choose Watch software update, then tap Download and install.
- From the watch: Open Settings, swipe up and select Software update, then tap Download and install.
Samsung notes that the watch must still be paired with a compatible smartphone when using the direct-watch update path. Menu wording can vary slightly with the app or software version.
Before a major update, use standard precautions: charge the watch adequately, keep it near the phone, use reliable Wi-Fi if available, and make sure Galaxy Wearable and the watch plug-in are current. Sync or back up important data first. Once installation starts, avoid interrupting it; the watch may restart more than once.

Firmware size and build: what Watch FE owners should know
Contemporary reporting identified the Watch FE release as build R861XXU1BXI4, around 1,759 MB, with the September 2024 security patch. That is a reported example, not a universal firmware number for every FE. Build identifiers and download sizes can differ by country, carrier, LTE or Bluetooth variant, and later maintenance updates. See the reported Watch FE release details, but use your exact model and Samsung’s update channel to determine what applies to your watch. No single Watch5 build number should be treated as universal.

A missing update does not by itself mean your watch is unsupported. Samsung distributed the software in waves, and timing could depend on market, carrier, model, paired phone and whether the watch was in a beta program. Bluetooth and LTE versions may not receive an update at the same time.
- Restart both the watch and phone, then make sure the watch reconnects in Galaxy Wearable.
- Check again under Galaxy Wearable → Watch settings → Watch software update.
- Update Galaxy Wearable and its watch plug-in from the phone’s app store.
- Confirm that the phone meets the compatibility requirements for your watch.
- Find the watch’s exact model number in its settings and check Samsung’s support or firmware records for that variant.
- If installation stalls, keep the watch charged and connected before attempting recovery or a reset.
Do not install firmware intended for a different region, carrier, LTE/Bluetooth variant or model. A VPN or phone-region change is not a supported way to force an update, and manual flashing can cause compatibility or warranty problems. For help beyond these checks, contact Samsung support for your region.

Should you install it—or replace your watch?
If a compatible Watch5, Watch5 Pro or FE offers the production update, most owners who want its health, fitness and interface features should install it after preparing the watch. The update provides a newer Wear OS base and additional tools, but the dossier does not establish that it universally improves battery life or performance. Major updates can also bring temporary setup friction or app-compatibility issues, and a feature advertised for the Watch7 or Ultra may not be available on an older model.
If the update is already installed, One UI 6 Watch is not a reason by itself to buy another older watch. Consider a replacement when the watch is damaged, its battery no longer meets your needs, or you want a newer model with a longer remaining support window. A Watch FE is not a clear performance upgrade over a healthy Watch5. For a used or refurbished watch, verify the exact model and LTE status, battery condition, included charger, return terms and any known water-resistance history.
Status as of August 16, 2026: One UI 6 Watch is a production release from late 2024, not a new rollout. Owners who still cannot find it should verify their watch variant, phone compatibility and current software status; availability of later maintenance updates may differ.
