Samsung’s Galaxy Watch Ultra update brings the July 5, 2026 security patch. It is a security-focused maintenance release, not a documented feature upgrade: Samsung’s changelog says security has been improved and lists no new user-facing features. The rollout is model-, region- and carrier-dependent, so the build number and arrival date can differ between watches.
What the update changes
Samsung’s firmware record for the international SM-L705F lists Android Wear 6.0, a July 14, 2026 release date and a July 5, 2026 security-patch level. Its changelog says only that security has been improved. It does not list new health features, watch faces, interface changes or performance improvements. Samsung’s firmware record
SamMobile reports that the patch addresses 57 security issues. That count is a report, not a figure in Samsung’s firmware note; it should not be read to mean every issue affects every Watch Ultra variant or is critical. These are examples, not interchangeable packages. The Galaxy Watch Ultra model family is SM-L705, but suffixes and firmware strings vary by market and carrier. Verizon’s listing confirms availability for its variant; it does not establish that every U.S. carrier or unlocked watch received the update at the same time. Check the firmware offered to your own watch rather than trying to match another region’s build.
How to install it
Before updating, connect the watch to your phone, charge it to at least 30% and, ideally, leave it on its charger. Samsung’s screens may vary by phone and software version. Samsung’s update instructions

- From Galaxy Wearable: Open Galaxy Wearable on your phone, tap Watch settings > Watch software update > Download and install.
- From the watch: Press the Home/Power button, open Settings > General > Watch software update, then follow the prompts.
Keep the watch and phone connected and use a stable connection while the update downloads. The watch will restart to install the software and will be unavailable briefly.

Check whether it installed
On the watch, look under Settings > About watch > Software information, or the equivalent information screen on your version. Look for a July 2026 patch level—Samsung’s international SM-L705F record specifies July 5, 2026—and compare the build only with the one intended for your model and region. Menu labels and build strings may differ.

If the update does not appear
- It may not have reached your watch yet. Samsung and carriers roll out firmware in stages, and timing can vary by country, carrier and product code.
- Confirm the model and carrier. An international, U.S. carrier or South Korean watch can use a different build. A missing match to the international L705F number does not by itself mean your watch is behind.
- Check battery and connection. Charge to at least 30%, reconnect the watch in Galaxy Wearable and retry on a stable Wi-Fi connection.
- Retry after a restart. If a download stalls or fails, restart the phone and watch, then try again. Make sure Galaxy Wearable and related Samsung wearable components are up to date.
- Check the right support page. If it still is not offered, consult Samsung’s or your carrier’s support page for your exact model. Do not manually flash firmware intended for a different region or variant; a mismatch can cause serious software problems.
Should you install it?
Yes, when the update is offered for your exact watch. It advances the security level from the May 5, 2026 patch listed in Samsung’s preceding SM-L705F firmware record to July 5. Install at a convenient time rather than just before a workout, trip or event when you need the watch: the process involves a restart, and the watch will be temporarily unavailable. As with any firmware rollout, a problem on one unit is possible, but the published changelog gives no indication of a feature migration.
Does it include One UI 9 Watch?
There is no verified indication in the July firmware record that this is a One UI 9 Watch update. The published note describes a security improvement. Do not treat reporting about software activity on newer Galaxy Watch models or possible later updates for older watches as evidence that One UI 9 Watch is included here.

What if something seems wrong afterward?
First restart the watch and phone, confirm the update finished, and update Galaxy Wearable and Samsung Health. If syncing fails, reconnect the watch through Galaxy Wearable; if a watch face is affected, check for an update or reinstall it through its store. Some owners have posted complaints about watch-face customization after the July patch, but these are anecdotal reports, not proof of a widespread or confirmed update-caused problem. One owner report
If the watch is frozen, use Samsung’s official forced-restart instructions for your model. Contact Samsung or your carrier if it repeatedly reboots, will not pair or loses LTE provisioning. Before considering a factory reset, allow important health data and settings to sync; a reset is not a guaranteed fix.
