Leaked-looking images published on June 17, 2024 appeared to show Samsung’s first Ultra-branded smartwatch with a squircle-shaped titanium case, a circular display, a sport band and a prominent orange side button. A report attributed to 91Mobiles placed the watch at $699 to $710—but that was only a leaked estimate. Samsung’s eventual U.S. MSRP for the LTE Galaxy Watch Ultra was $649.99.
What the leaked Galaxy Watch Ultra images showed
The images, described in contemporary coverage as apparently official renders, showed a design unlike Samsung’s conventional round Galaxy Watch models. The case appeared to combine a rounded-square, or “squircle,” outer shape with a circular screen inside it.
Two finishes were visible: a dark gray or black version and a white or silver version. The watch also appeared to use a titanium-looking case, a rugged sport-oriented band and a conspicuous orange button on the right side.

It looked like a conventional push button, but the renders could not confirm whether it rotated, worked as a crown, launched a particular function or operated in another way.

The design was consistent with earlier reports that Samsung was preparing a more outdoor-focused premium watch. That interpretation is analysis, not proof of Samsung’s product strategy. The renders could show the exterior design, but not the processor, battery, display technology, sensors, water-resistance rating, software or exact dimensions.
9to5Google’s report treated the images as leaked material rather than a formal Samsung announcement. Their later resemblance to the retail product does not make every detail confirmed at the time.
The reported $700 price was a range, not a confirmed MSRP
The pricing claim came from a 91Mobiles report relayed by 9to5Google. It said the Galaxy Watch Ultra could cost between $699 and $710.
That explains why headlines summarized the leak as a $700 watch: the reported range was close to that figure. But “will cost $700” was too definite. The number was an expected price, not an announced retail price, and the report did not establish whether it applied to every country, connectivity configuration or launch promotion.
Regional pricing also matters. The evidence for the final price discussed here applies to the United States, and should not be generalized to Europe or other markets.

Why a $700 Galaxy Watch would have been significant
A price near $700 would have represented a major shift upward for Samsung’s smartwatch line. The same contemporary report noted that Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 5 Pro had started at $449. A $699 price would therefore have been roughly $250 higher than that earlier premium model.
It would also have put Samsung’s watch only about $100 below Apple’s Watch Ultra positioning at the time. That comparison describes price placement, not equivalent capability. The two watches use different phone ecosystems, and their materials, LTE configurations, outdoor features, battery behavior and health functions cannot be judged from price alone.
The squircle case likely helped Samsung signal that the Ultra was a distinct tier rather than simply a larger version of the standard Galaxy Watch. Buyers should nevertheless avoid treating a rugged appearance or a titanium case as proof that the watch matched every capability of a competing outdoor smartwatch.
What the leak did not prove
- Button operation: The orange button was visible, but its exact behavior was unknown.
- Performance: The renders did not confirm the processor, memory or software features.
- Endurance: Battery capacity and real-world battery life were not established.
- Health tracking: The images could not verify sensors or the availability of particular health functions.
- Durability: Water resistance, impact protection and outdoor ratings required official specifications.
- Connectivity and pricing: The leaked range did not prove that every Bluetooth, Wi-Fi or LTE configuration would cost the same.
- Release details: A render did not confirm the launch date or availability in every region.
Samsung’s final U.S. price was $649.99
Samsung’s July 2024 U.S. MSRP document listed the Galaxy Watch Ultra LTE at $649.99. The document listed Titanium Gray, Titanium Silver and Titanium White versions.

In other words, the leak was directionally close but overstated the eventual U.S. list price by about $50. The Samsung evidence cited here concerns LTE models, so it should not be read as confirmation that every possible retail configuration had the same MSRP.

MSRP is also not the same as the price a buyer always paid. Samsung purchase pages can show temporary discounts, instant trade-in credits, carrier financing, bundle offers and optional Samsung Care+. A sale price or a price after trade-in should not replace the launch MSRP in a historical price comparison.

Other 2024 lineup details reported at the time
The same leak coverage said the standard Galaxy Watch 7 was expected to start at $299 and that the Galaxy Watch FE had recently been announced at $199. It also mentioned rumored Watch 7 colors including “Marbal Gray,” likely a mistranscription of “Marble Gray,” alongside Cream White and Forest Green.
Those were contemporary leak claims, not all final U.S. product details. Color names, model availability and prices can vary by market, and the Ultra’s leaked two-color presentation should be kept separate from Samsung’s later MSRP documentation listing three U.S. titanium finishes.

For a Galaxy user seeking Samsung’s most distinctive, outdoor-oriented watch design, the Ultra’s premium positioning is the main point of the product. The titanium construction later described by Samsung as Grade 4 titanium, LTE connectivity and the separate case design make it a different proposition from the standard Galaxy Watch line.
For shoppers comparing it with an Apple Watch Ultra, ecosystem fit is decisive. Samsung emphasizes integration with Galaxy devices on its product page, so people who do not use Samsung’s phone ecosystem should verify compatibility and the specific health and software functions they need before paying Ultra-level pricing.

Buyers should also check the model year carefully. Current Samsung pages distinguish the original 2024 product from the Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025). As of August 2026, Samsung pages still showed a $649.99 reference price in relevant listings, while some purchase pages displayed promotions such as $449.99. Those figures are date- and page-specific, not evidence that the original launch MSRP changed.
Samsung’s buying pages may also show trade-in offers of up to $250, depending on the device, condition and promotion. Samsung Care+ is an additional purchase rather than part of the watch’s MSRP; one cited purchase page showed an option priced at $8 per month or $99 for two years. Check the exact offer at checkout, since promotions and coverage terms can change.
Bottom line
The leak was useful because it revealed the Galaxy Watch Ultra’s unusual squircle case, apparent titanium construction, sport band and orange side button before launch. Its price estimate was less precise: the reported $699–$710 range made the “$700” headline understandable, but Samsung ultimately set the U.S. LTE launch MSRP at $649.99.
So the accurate verdict is: the leak correctly identified Samsung’s premium Ultra direction and came reasonably close on price, but the watch did not officially launch in the United States at $700.
