The Galaxy Watch8 series launched with One UI 8 Watch and new watch-face designs, including Samsung-documented examples Heritage Classic and Spatial Number. They pair traditional analog styling with smartwatch features, but Samsung has not published a complete catalog of every new face—and debuting with Watch8 does not prove a face is exclusive to it.
Samsung announced the series on July 9, 2025, with U.S. general availability beginning July 25. This is a look at the faces and software as launched, plus what owners of other Galaxy Watches should know about availability.
Two documented designs show the range
Samsung’s materials establish two named examples, not an exhaustive lineup. Samsung Design’s Watch8 overview describes Heritage Classic, while Samsung’s update documentation for the SM-R950 names Spatial Number. Promotional images and these references are not a definitive catalog of every face, color, complication or regional option.

Heritage Classic: an analog look with smartwatch functions
Samsung Design says the face draws on guilloché patterns associated with traditional luxury watches. The effect is meant to give the Watch8 Classic a more familiar analog character while retaining smartwatch complications. That is Samsung’s design rationale, not independent evidence that the face is more useful, more legible or technically superior.

Spatial Number: analog hands plus bold digital time
Spatial Number combines a conventional clock layout with large digital numerals. That makes it a natural option for anyone who wants the visual cues of an analog dial without relying on hands alone to read the time. Samsung’s update record confirms the name and broad concept; it does not document every supported complication, color option or market where it appears.
Introduced with Watch8 does not mean exclusive to it
It helps to separate three claims: a face was introduced with Watch8, it was available on Watch8 at launch, or it is exclusive to Watch8 hardware. Samsung’s launch and design materials support the first two for the Watch8 experience; they do not establish permanent hardware exclusivity for every face.

The Galaxy Watch8 and Watch8 Classic launched with One UI 8 Watch, as did the 2025 Galaxy Watch Ultra. Samsung later announced One UI 8 Watch availability for the Galaxy Watch Ultra through an update, illustrating that Watch8-era software is not necessarily confined to the launch models. Samsung’s Ultra update announcement does not, by itself, prove that every individual face is available on every compatible watch.

It is evidence that the face is not simply a Watch8-only launch visual, but it is not a universal compatibility list. Availability can depend on the watch model, software version, region and update status. An older watch receiving One UI 8 Watch also may not support every feature or option in the same way.

The faces are part of a broader interface update
One UI 8 Watch also reorganizes watch tiles and adapts the interface to the display’s size and shape. Samsung’s Watch8 launch materials pair the software with health and wellness features such as Energy Score, running guidance and sleep-related insights. Those capabilities can vary by model, country, phone and Samsung Health availability; they are context for the interface, not proof that a particular face displays every data point.
The practical choice is a balance: a clean dial can make the time easy to read, while complications put more information on the face. More data can make the design busier, and large numerals can use space that might otherwise go to complications. Samsung’s design descriptions do not establish battery-life, readability or health-outcome advantages. Always-on-display behavior and endurance can also vary with the face and settings.

How to find and change a face
On the watch
- Touch and hold the current watch face.
- Swipe through installed faces. If shown, tap Add or the plus button to browse more.
- Select a face, then choose Customize if that option is available.
- Adjust the offered details—such as colors, hands, indices, layout or complications—and confirm the selection.
Labels and available controls can differ by One UI Watch version and language. Some versions let you swipe to Edit on phone to continue in the companion app.
In Galaxy Wearable
- Open Galaxy Wearable on the paired Android phone and select your watch.
- Open Watch faces.
- Choose a face, customize it if options are offered, then apply or download it to the watch.
Use the official Galaxy Wearable route rather than sideloading watch-face packages. Unofficial installation methods can introduce compatibility problems, and a face’s appearance in a promotion does not guarantee that it is available for every model or region.

Which Watch8 model fits a face-focused buyer?
- Galaxy Watch8: A sensible choice if you want the Watch8 software experience, including its face designs, in the standard model and smaller 40mm size option.
- Galaxy Watch8 Classic: The natural fit if you prefer traditional-watch styling and a rotating bezel. Samsung’s design materials particularly connect Heritage Classic with the Classic’s analog character.
- 2025 Galaxy Watch Ultra: Consider it for its rugged, outdoor-oriented positioning and One UI 8 Watch, not simply to get a particular face. It is a larger, more specialized option.
These are based on Samsung’s product positioning, not hands-on testing. The face designs alone do not establish that one watch is better value or has better battery life. If comparing prices, check current local listings: U.S. MSRP and promotional pricing can change, and neither determines which faces an older model can receive.
Compatibility and availability checks
- Samsung’s U.S. Watch8 product page lists a paired smartphone running Android 11.0 or later with at least 1.5 GB of memory as a requirement. Meeting that requirement does not guarantee that every feature works on every Android phone.
- Software updates may arrive at different times by watch model, market and carrier. Check the update notice for your exact model rather than assuming all older Galaxy Watches are supported.
- LTE service requires compatible carrier support and a suitable plan; LTE is not a watch-face requirement.
- Face options and customization can differ by model, software version and region. Confirm what appears in Galaxy Wearable or on the watch itself.
- For third-party faces, support for complications and continued compatibility can vary, especially after software updates.
