Garmin System Software 18.14 is a stable update for the D2 Mach 1 series, adding the Garmin Share app, improving race-time predictions and addressing 15 specifically named bugs. Garmin announced the D2 Mach 1 rollout on September 17, 2024; it should not be confused with a new August 2026 release. Owners should check their watch’s installed version before attempting to update.
Which Garmin watches received version 18.14?
Garmin’s official announcement is titled “D2 Mach 1 System Software 18.14” and confirms the release for D2 Mach 1 users. Secondary reporting also identifies the Garmin D2 Mach 1 Pro as part of the rollout. Because the official visible announcement is specifically for the D2 Mach 1, D2 Mach 1 Pro owners should verify availability directly on the watch or through Garmin’s support tools.
The version applies to these specific models, not automatically to every Garmin watch or every Fenix-related device that received a similar update.

Garmin Share lets compatible Garmin devices transfer supported data directly between one another. Depending on the receiving device and supported data type, this can include workouts, waypoints, courses and other items.

It is not a general-purpose file-transfer system. Both devices must be compatible Garmin products, have Bluetooth enabled and be within approximately 3 meters (10 feet). A six-digit PIN is displayed on both devices so users can confirm that the transfer is going to the intended watch.
How to send data with Garmin Share
- From the watch face, press START.
- Select Garmin Share > Share.
- Choose a category and select an item.
- Select Share, or choose Add More > Share to select multiple items.
- Wait for the watch to find compatible nearby devices, then select the destination device.
- Confirm that the six-digit PIN matches on both devices.
- Wait for the transfer to finish and select Done.
How to receive data
- From the watch face, press START.
- Select Garmin Share.
- Wait for a compatible nearby device to appear and select it.
- Confirm the matching six-digit PIN.
- Wait for the transfer to finish, then select Done.
Garmin Share settings are under Hold MENU > Connectivity > Garmin Share. If the other device does not appear, check Bluetooth, compatibility, the supported data type and the distance between the watches.

What else changed in software 18.14?
Garmin’s official changelog lists improved race-time predictions, updated translations and “various bug fixes and improvements.” The race-prediction note contains no algorithm explanation, supported-distance breakdown or numerical accuracy claim. Reports that predictions seemed more optimistic on some Garmin watches are user observations, not a Garmin specification.

- Fixed strength workouts rounding weight to the nearest whole number.
Maps and navigation
- Fixed missing pan and zoom controls on the map during Find My Phone navigation.
- Fixed Garmin Connect failing to show which course was used for an activity.
- Fixed destination distance appearing in feet or meters instead of miles or kilometers.
- Fixed Outdoor Maps+ downloads becoming stuck at 0%.
Golf
- Fixed Golf Glance showing a zero value when using Stableford scoring.
- Fixed potential cursor problems on the golf map.
- Fixed a potential shutdown after receiving a flag measurement from a Z30.
Connectivity, GPS and stability
- Fixed potential connection problems with external Bluetooth sensors.
- Fixed potential GPS-track problems during snowshoe activities.
- Fixed potential screen distortion on the watch face.
- Fixed potential Wi-Fi lockups when requesting software updates.
Language and general behavior
- Fixed a missing keyboard-switch icon in some languages.
- Updated translations.
- Included additional general bug fixes and improvements.
The changelog therefore contains 15 specifically named fixes, plus a broader general-fixes entry. “Over a dozen bug fixes” is accurate, but the individual fixes matter more than the headline count for owners affected by map, golf, workout, sensor or display problems.

How to install the update
Garmin delivers watch software through Garmin Connect, Garmin Express and automatic Bluetooth or Wi-Fi checks. Before installing, sync the watch, charge it adequately and avoid interrupting the process.
Using Garmin Connect
- Keep the D2 Mach 1 paired with the correct phone and nearby.
- Open Garmin Connect and sync the watch.
- Accept the update when Garmin Connect sends an available software update to the watch.
- Leave the watch undisturbed while installation completes.
Garmin’s D2 Mach 1 manual says the watch automatically checks for updates when connected through Bluetooth or Wi-Fi.

Using Garmin Express
- Connect the watch to a Windows or Mac computer with its USB charging cable.
- Open Garmin Express and select the watch.
- Choose Install or Install All when updates appear.
- Accept any terms or important notes.
- Disconnect the watch only when Garmin Express instructs you to.
- On the watch, choose Install Now or Install Tonight if prompted.
Garmin’s support instructions provide the Express workflow. If the prompt does not appear, try Settings > System > Software Update > Update Available on the watch.

If version 18.14 does not appear
- Sync the watch with Garmin Connect and reopen the app.
- Confirm that the watch is paired with the correct phone.
- Try Garmin Express over USB.
- Check the installed version: the watch may already be running newer firmware.
- Allow for staged or region-specific delivery.
- Use Garmin’s product-support pages rather than unofficial firmware mirrors.
If Garmin Express cannot see the watch, reconnect the USB cable and try another computer port before following Garmin’s device-recognition troubleshooting. If an installation is interrupted, do not repeatedly factory-reset the watch; record the installed software version and contact Garmin support if normal recovery does not work.

System software is not an aviation database update
Installing System Software 18.14 does not automatically refresh airport, navigation-aid or intersection information. Garmin treats aviation database maintenance separately from ordinary watch software. D2 owners should use the appropriate aviation database update procedure when that data needs refreshing.
Map updates and aviation updates are also distinct from the system firmware process. Garmin’s D2 Mach 1 support guidance explains the separate software and map-management options.
What 18.14 does not change
The changelog does not promise a new sensor, longer battery life, new aviation functionality or a hardware upgrade. It is primarily a maintenance release with Garmin Share as its notable addition. Owners already running firmware newer than 18.14 should not downgrade simply to obtain features or fixes that may already be included in their current software.
For a D2 Mach 1 owner, installing 18.14 was most valuable when the watch showed one of the listed problems or when Garmin Share offered a practical way to move courses, workouts or waypoints between compatible devices. Anyone checking the update today should first identify the watch model and installed firmware, because the original rollout dates to September 2024 and may have been superseded.
