Yes—but only under specific conditions. Garmin rates the Enduro 3 for up to 90 days in smartwatch mode with solar charging. That figure assumes all-day wear plus three hours outdoors each day in 50,000-lux conditions. It does not mean the watch can record GPS continuously for 90 days, or that every owner will go three months between charges.
Announced on August 27, 2024, the Enduro 3 is an established endurance smartwatch rather than a new 2026 release. Its appeal remains straightforward: very long battery life, solar assistance, maps, advanced training tools and a sunlight-readable display for ultrarunning, hiking, cycling and expeditions.
The short version
The Enduro 3’s headline battery figures are genuine Garmin ratings, but they describe different operating modes:
- Up to 36 days in smartwatch mode without solar.
- Up to 90 days in smartwatch mode with solar.
- Up to 120 hours of GPS-only tracking without solar.
- Up to 320 hours of GPS-only tracking with solar.
The 90-day number is therefore a best-case smartwatch estimate, not ordinary continuous-use battery life. GPS mode, multiband positioning, music, notifications, heart-rate monitoring, Pulse Ox, phone connectivity and external sensors can all reduce endurance.

Garmin’s battery table also lists up to 92 days in Battery Saver Watch mode without solar, and an “unlimited” estimate with solar under the stated light conditions. Battery Saver, Expedition GPS and Max Battery GPS are not equivalent to full-featured smartwatch or navigation use.
Enduro 3 battery life by mode
| Mode | Without solar | With solar |
|---|---|---|
| Smartwatch | Up to 36 days | Up to 90 days |
| Battery Saver Watch | Up to 92 days | Unlimited under stated conditions |
| GPS only | Up to 120 hours | Up to 320 hours |
| All satellite systems | Up to 80 hours | Up to 144 hours |
| All satellite systems plus multiband | Up to 60 hours | Up to 90 hours |
| All satellite systems plus music | Up to 22 hours | No solar figure listed in the cited table |
| Max Battery GPS | Up to 210 hours | Unlimited under stated conditions |
| Expedition GPS | Up to 77 days | Unlimited under stated conditions |
These are Garmin estimates rather than universal guarantees. The practical choice is between accuracy, features and endurance: GPS-only lasts longest among conventional tracking modes; all-satellite and multiband modes can improve positioning in difficult terrain but consume more power; and music is a particularly large drain.
What Garmin means by solar charging
The Enduro 3 uses a Power Sapphire lens with solar charging integrated into the display. Garmin’s 90-day estimate assumes three hours outdoors every day at 50,000 lux. That is a substantial amount of bright outdoor exposure, not simply wearing the watch near a window.

What is the Enduro 3?
The Enduro line is built around long-distance endurance sports rather than conventional smartwatch use. The Enduro 3 targets ultrarunners, hikers, cyclists, bikepackers, expedition travelers and anyone who wants continuous training and health tracking without frequent charging.
It is Garmin’s battery-first alternative to the fēnix family. The trade-off is that the Enduro 3 prioritizes endurance and outdoor readability over a bright AMOLED screen and some smartwatch-oriented features. Garmin’s US price signal is $899.99, although prices, configurations, stock and shipping can change. Garmin’s US product page indicated one-to-three-business-day shipping when checked in August 2026; confirm the current status on the official product page.
Hardware and display
- Weight: 63 grams with the supplied lightweight nylon strap.
- Materials: Power Sapphire lens, titanium bezel and fiber-reinforced polymer case.
- Display: sunlight-visible, transflective MIP touchscreen.
- Water rating: 10 ATM, corresponding to pressure equivalent to a depth of 100 metres under Garmin’s terminology.
- Band: 26 mm QuickFit compatibility.
- Battery: built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery.
The MIP panel is a deliberate endurance choice. It is easy to read in bright sunlight and uses relatively little power, but it is less vivid and less smartphone-like than AMOLED. If rich colours, high contrast and an always-on phone-style interface matter more than maximum battery life, a fēnix 8 AMOLED may be a better match.

Software has moved on since launch
Launch coverage from 2024 does not represent the complete current feature set. Garmin announced Enduro 3 updates on August 28, 2025, including running tolerance, Garmin Triathlon Coach plans, track-oriented daily suggested workouts, an Evening Report, a smart wake alarm and additional cycling and mountain-bike profile changes. Running economy and step speed loss were added when the watch is used with the HRM 600.

Enduro 3 versus fēnix 8
The closest decision is not simply “which watch is newer?” It is whether endurance or broader smartwatch functionality matters more.
| Enduro 3 | fēnix 8 51 mm Solar | |
|---|---|---|
| Display approach | Sunlight-readable MIP | MIP with solar assistance |
| Smartwatch battery | Up to 36 days; 90 with solar | Up to 30 days; 48 with solar |
| Positioning | Endurance-first sports and expedition watch | Broader premium multisport range |
| Best reason to choose it | Maximum battery, lower weight and outdoor readability | More general premium smartwatch experience and model-dependent voice hardware |
Garmin’s comparison pages identify the Enduro 3’s MIP display and the fēnix 8 AMOLED models’ AMOLED panels. The fēnix 8 family is the stronger choice for buyers who want a more conventional smartwatch feel, AMOLED visuals or voice-oriented hardware on supported models. The Enduro 3 is the better fit when charging frequency is the overriding concern.
Enduro 3 versus Enduro 2
The Enduro 3 is an evolutionary upgrade rather than a completely different category. Garmin rates the Enduro 2 for up to 34 days in smartwatch mode or 46 days with solar, compared with 36 and 90 days respectively for the Enduro 3.

A discounted Enduro 2 can still make sense if it is substantially cheaper, but check battery health, warranty, return terms and software support—especially for a used unit. Garmin’s comparison page is the appropriate place to verify the current specifications.
Who should buy the Enduro 3?
Choose it if you:
- Run ultras or train for long events.
- Spend days hiking, cycling or traveling off-grid.
- Want maps and advanced Garmin training metrics.
- Prefer an always-visible MIP display outdoors.
- Want multi-week everyday battery life and can regularly expose the watch to bright outdoor light.
- Value endurance more than calls, voice controls or a large app ecosystem.
Look elsewhere if you:
- Want a compact watch; the Enduro 3 is a large 51 mm-class outdoor design.
- Prefer an AMOLED display.
- Want built-in calling or a speaker-and-microphone experience associated with some fēnix 8 models.
- Spend most of your time indoors, limiting the usefulness of solar charging.
- Do not need multi-week battery life and would be better served by a lighter Forerunner or a less expensive Instinct model.
The Instinct 3 is a more affordable rugged alternative, while Forerunner models are often a better fit for runners who do not need expedition construction, maps and extreme endurance. Neither is a direct replacement in every respect.
How to plan battery life for an expedition
- Pick the tracking mode first. Do not plan a GPS trip around the 90-day smartwatch estimate.
- Use GPS-only when its accuracy is sufficient. Reserve all-satellite or multiband tracking for terrain where the positioning benefit justifies the drain.
- Disable music when endurance matters. The listed all-satellite-plus-music figure is only up to 22 hours.
- Review sensors and connections. External sensors, Pulse Ox, notifications and phone connectivity can change the result.
- Expose the lens to useful light. Keep it uncovered and aimed toward bright outdoor light when practical, but do not rely on solar alone in poor weather or cold conditions.
- Carry the charging cable. “Unlimited” is a conditional Garmin estimate, not a guarantee that a depleted watch can recover indefinitely in every environment.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: The Garmin Enduro 3 really can be rated for up to 90 days, but only as a solar-assisted smartwatch estimate based on three hours of daily outdoor exposure at 50,000 lux. For continuous GPS, think in hours or days: up to 120 hours normally, or 320 hours in GPS-only mode with solar. In 2026, it remains a compelling endurance-first sports watch for people who value battery life, maps and MIP readability—but not the best choice for buyers seeking AMOLED visuals or a conventional calling-focused smartwatch.
