Google Fi’s anniversary promotion was real, but it was not a no-strings-attached giveaway. In April 2025, Fi launched Unlimited Essentials at $35 per month for one line and offered new customers a Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel Watch 3 through instant discounts and 24 monthly bill credits. The phone promotion ended April 29, 2025, and the watch-code deadline was May 13, 2025. The specific offer is expired.
Customers who qualified could receive $300 off the Pixel 9 Pro immediately and $699 in bill credits over 24 months. The Pixel Watch 3 required a separate code after the phone shipped, followed by a $100 instant discount and $349 in credits. Leaving Fi early could end the remaining credits and leave unpaid device financing due.
What Google Fi announced
Google’s 10th-anniversary announcement combined three separate changes:

- A limited-time promotion for new customers buying a Pixel 9 Pro, with a Pixel Watch 3 offer unlocked afterward.
The device promotion was tied to Fi service and promotional billing rules. It should not be described as two devices being handed over free with no continuing obligation.

Google’s announcement listed the Pixel 9 Pro promotion as running from April 22, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. Pacific time through April 29, 2025, at 9:59 a.m. Pacific time, or earlier if supplies ran out.
Unlimited Essentials pricing and limits
These were the launch-era prices and allowances announced in April 2025:

Taxes and government fees were extra. Google also said video could be limited to standard-definition 480p.
“Unlimited” did not mean unlimited high-speed data. Essentials included unlimited talk and text, continued data access, and 30 GB of high-speed U.S. data per person. After that allowance, data could continue at up to 256 Kbps. That speed is suitable for basic messaging and light web use, but it is a poor substitute for full-speed mobile data.
How the Pixel 9 Pro promotion worked
The advertised Pixel 9 Pro value was $999, but the discount arrived in two stages:
- $300 off immediately at checkout.
- $699 in bill credits over 24 months.
In practical terms, Fi could cover the advertised phone price over two years, provided the customer remained eligible and kept the required service active. The credits were monthly rather than an upfront refund, did not roll over, and could be applied toward plan charges, taxes and fees, financing costs, and international charges. They could not be used for device protection.
The offer was limited to new Google Fi customers, required a U.S. resident and U.S. shipping address, and was limited to one offer per customer or group-plan member. A Google Pay account and Google Fi account were also required.

The phone had to be activated within 30 days of shipment confirmation. Changing the device before 120 days could invalidate the instant discount. Canceling or pausing Fi before all 24 credits were issued stopped the remaining credits; any unpaid financing balance could then be charged to the customer’s Google Pay account. Those are two separate consequences: losing future credits is not the same as having a previous discount reversed or owing the remaining device balance.
How the Pixel Watch 3 promotion worked
The watch was not automatically added to the phone order. The sequence mattered:
- Buy and receive the qualifying Pixel 9 Pro.
- Wait for Google to email the Pixel Watch 3 promotional code.
- Use the code by May 13, 2025, at 9:59 p.m. Pacific time.
- Receive $100 off immediately and $349 in bill credits over 24 months.
That produced the advertised $449 watch value through an instant discount plus monthly credits. The watch also had to be activated within 30 days of shipment confirmation. The watch promotion was therefore dependent on the qualifying phone purchase and was not an independent free-watch offer.
Anyone considering a similar current deal should confirm whether the watch is a Wi-Fi or LTE model, whether it requires a separate line or eligible plan, and whether the offer requires continued service for a defined period.
What changed for Standard and Premium
Google increased the allowances on its higher-tier plans without increasing their announced one-line prices.
Unlimited Standard, previously called Simply Unlimited, rose from 35 GB to 50 GB of high-speed data. Its high-speed hotspot allowance increased from 5 GB to 25 GB.
Unlimited Premium, previously called Unlimited Plus, rose from 50 GB to 100 GB of high-speed data. Premium also included 50 GB of high-speed hotspot data, data in more than 200 international destinations, six months of YouTube Premium, 100 GB of Google One storage, and data-only SIM options for tablets and laptops.

These were announcement-era terms. They should not be treated as current pricing. Google’s current Pixel/Fi page displays different pricing, including Unlimited Premium at $55 per line for two lines, so shoppers should verify the checkout total before subscribing.

Essentials made the most sense for a domestic user who wanted one U.S. phone line, unlimited calls and texts, continued data access, and a lower monthly service price. It was less suitable for people who regularly used more than 30 GB of high-speed data, relied heavily on hotspot tethering, traveled internationally, or wanted bundled Google services and tablet or laptop connectivity.
It was also a poor fit for anyone unwilling to remain with Fi for 24 months to collect device credits. The lower service price could look attractive while the device promotion was active, but the meaningful comparison was the total two-year cost of service, taxes, financing, and any remaining device balance—not simply the word “free.”
Was the Pixel and watch deal actually free?
Only in the promotional-credit sense. The customer could have the advertised device prices fully offset over 24 months, but the transaction still involved financing, an upfront payment structure, activation deadlines, and ongoing Fi eligibility.
Before accepting a comparable offer, check:
- Whether you are a new customer or an existing subscriber.
- The required plan tier and total 24-month service cost.
- The instant discount and monthly credit amounts.
- Activation deadlines for each device.
- Whether pausing, canceling, or changing devices ends the credits.
- Taxes, government fees, financing costs, protection-plan exclusions, and trade-in requirements.
- Whether the device is locked, financed, or otherwise subject to promotional restrictions.
Is the Pixel 9 Pro and Watch 3 deal still available?
No. The specific Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel Watch 3 anniversary promotion expired in 2025. Readers should not attempt to claim it from an old article or assume that a similar headline represents the same terms.

Google Fi’s current offers page now lists newer Pixel, Samsung Galaxy, and Motorola promotions, along with a referral offer advertising $60 in bill credits for both the referrer and the new customer when its conditions are met. Google’s current Pixel/Fi page has also advertised a Pixel 11 Pro promotion consisting of $300 off immediately, $799 in 24 monthly credits, and a $10-per-month service credit for two years on Unlimited Premium, with an October 6, 2026 deadline shown on the page.
Those current promotions are separate from the 2025 anniversary deal and may have different plan, eligibility, trade-in, and deadline requirements. Check the official pages immediately before purchase because carrier promotions can change or end early.
Bottom line for watch shoppers
The 2025 offer was a legitimate way for eligible new Fi customers to offset a Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel Watch 3 over two years. It was not an upfront giveaway, and the watch required a separate post-shipment code. The promotion is now expired, so current buyers should use Google Fi’s live offers page and compare the full 24-month cost before choosing a phone-and-watch bundle.
