Google Clock is no longer available for new downloads on non-Pixel Wear OS watches, but Google has not immediately disabled copies already installed. Existing users can keep using the app, though it will no longer receive Play Store updates. If you uninstall it or reset your watch, you may not be able to reinstall it.
What Google changed
In an announcement on October 30, 2025, Google said its Clock app—including its alarm, timer and stopwatch features—would remain available on Pixel Watch but would no longer be offered for download on other Wear OS watches. Google’s stated reason was that other watch makers already provide their own default clock apps.
This is a change to the watch version of Google Clock. The announcement does not say that the Android phone app has been discontinued.

The dividing line in Google’s notice is Pixel Watch versus other Wear OS watches—not a published model-by-model compatibility list. Samsung Galaxy Watch, OnePlus Watch and Mobvoi/TicWatch owners were among those reporting the change, but that is not a guarantee about every model, software version or region. Google’s notice does not say every watch lost access at the same time.

If Google Clock is still on your watch, think before removing it
Google says an existing installation can remain usable, but does not promise indefinite operation or future maintenance. If you rely on it, do not uninstall it just to troubleshoot a minor issue until you have confirmed you can use a replacement. The same caution applies before resetting or replacing the watch.
A factory reset can erase installed apps and their data, depending on the device and software. Google’s Wear OS help guidance notes that instructions vary by manufacturer, device and software version. If Google Clock is removed during a reset, the announced lack of Play Store availability means you may not be able to restore it afterward. Treat alarms as data you may need to recreate: record them and check your alternative clock app before resetting.
Check whether the app is installed
- Wake the watch and open its app launcher.
- Look for Clock, Google Clock or the app’s clock icon. App names and launcher layouts can differ.
- You can also open the Play Store on the watch and check its installed-apps area. Menu labels may vary.
- If the app is present and working, avoid uninstalling it until you have tested a replacement.
To update other watch apps, Google’s general route is to open the Play Store on the watch, swipe down from the top, tap My Apps, then choose an available update or Update all. Do not expect Google Clock to appear as an update on a non-Pixel watch covered by this policy.

Choosing a replacement
Start with the watch maker’s clock app. This is Google’s recommended alternative and is usually the most directly integrated with that watch. Its alarms, timers, stopwatch, tiles, complications and controls may look or behave differently from Google Clock, however.
Consider another clock app from the watch Play Store if the built-in app lacks a feature you need. Before relying on one, check whether it is actively maintained, what permissions it requests, and whether it works with your phone and watch software. Test alarms with the phone nearby and disconnected, and check how the app behaves in battery-saver or low-power mode.
Pay particular attention to synchronization. A watch alarm may be stored and run directly on the watch, mirrored from a phone, or kept separately from phone alarms. Google’s announcement does not promise that another app will reproduce Google Clock’s phone-watch behavior. Confirm how alarms are created, dismissed and edited on your specific devices before depending on the replacement.

A phone alarm can be a fallback if you only need a reminder, but it is not automatically equivalent to an alarm that runs independently on the watch. Verify that notifications reach the watch and that the behavior suits your routine. The same checks apply to offline use, vibration and sound, accessibility settings, and restoring alarms after a reset.

The practical loss is not only a familiar timer screen: it may also mean changing the way you manage alarms across phone and watch. For people who use a Google phone with a Samsung, OnePlus or other non-Pixel watch, the change reduces one piece of shared Google software they could previously use across devices.
It also fits a broader move toward manufacturer-specific wearable apps, but should not be read as proof that every Google app will leave third-party watches. Google made a separate Weather announcement on September 15, 2025: its built-in Weather app would no longer be offered on non-Pixel watches running Wear OS 6 or newer, while older versions were described as unchanged at that time. That version-specific Weather policy is not a condition of the Clock announcement.

Google’s stated Clock rationale is that manufacturers supply their own default apps. Pixel Watch exclusivity may make Google’s watch ecosystem more vertically integrated, but Google has not said the change is intended to force people to buy a Pixel Watch.

Google’s notice does not offer sideloading as a supported workaround. An older APK may fail because of compatibility, signing, dependencies or watch software changes, and a successful installation would not restore Play Store updates or establish ongoing support. A user report about a Galaxy Watch 4 Classic after a reset illustrates the problem, but is anecdotal rather than official guidance: the report.

Did Google Clock stop working on non-Pixel watches?

Can I reinstall Google Clock after uninstalling it or resetting my watch?
Google says the app is no longer available for download on non-Pixel Wear OS watches. If it is removed, you may not be able to reinstall it from the Play Store.
Is this change limited to Wear OS 6?
No such version limit appears in Google’s Clock announcement. The Wear OS 6+ qualification applies to the separate Weather app change.
