Yes—Google and Warby Parker are making smart glasses. The product is officially called Warby Parker Intelligent Eyewear, developed with Google and Samsung. The first model is described as lightweight, audio-first AI glasses rather than display-equipped augmented-reality eyewear. Google and Warby Parker say they are expected to launch in fall 2026, but no exact release date, price, or preorder has been announced in the official information available for this article.
What are Warby Parker Intelligent Eyewear?
Warby Parker Intelligent Eyewear is a planned line of camera- and microphone-equipped glasses that uses Google’s Gemini AI and Android XR software. Warby Parker is contributing frame design, prescription expertise, and its eyewear retail experience. Google is providing the AI and software platform, while Samsung is contributing hardware engineering.
The partnership was announced on May 20, 2025. Warby Parker later said in a December 2025 SEC filing that the first lightweight AI glasses were expected in 2026. Google gave the clearest launch window at Google I/O on May 19, 2026, saying the first audio glasses would arrive “later this fall.”
They should not be confused with the discontinued Google Glass, a confirmed “Pixel Glass” product, Samsung’s Galaxy XR headset, or future display glasses discussed by Google. The Warby Parker launch product currently described by Google is everyday audio eyewear with cameras—not heads-up-display glasses.

Launch date and availability
The official timing is fall 2026. Neither Google nor Warby Parker has published a specific day, retail price, preorder window, battery specification, or subscription price in the cited material.
Warby Parker’s product page currently offers an email signup for launch updates. That is an update-registration form, not confirmation of a paid preorder or reservation. Readers should treat claims that the glasses are already available—or that they launch in a particular month—as unconfirmed unless the companies publish new details.

What will the glasses do?
Google has announced the following planned capabilities. These are company-described features and demonstrations, not independent retail-product test results.

Google has said users can say “Hey Google” or tap the side of the frame to access Gemini. It has also described hand-gesture controls when the glasses are paired with a compatible Wear OS watch. That does not confirm that every gesture or command will be available at launch.
Audio glasses versus display glasses
“Smart glasses” covers several different categories:
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Audio AI glasses: cameras, microphones, speakers, and a voice assistant, but no in-lens display.
- Display glasses: transparent or projected visual information such as text, notifications, or directions.
- XR headsets: larger spatial-computing devices with substantial visual mixed-reality hardware.
The first Warby Parker model belongs to the first category. Assistance should therefore be expected primarily through spoken audio. A wearer should not expect floating arrows, visible translations, or text overlaid on the world unless Google later announces a different model.
Google’s Android XR materials describe display glasses as a separate future category. The Warby Parker partnership does not currently establish that its first launch model includes a screen.
Prescription lenses and everyday wear
Prescription support is the product’s most obvious potential advantage over many technology-first wearables. Warby Parker’s original announcement said the line would include prescription and non-prescription options, making the glasses relevant to customers who want one pair for ordinary vision correction and AI features.

Helps you to suit any scenario and effortlessly break language barriers. Note: This model has no camera, all functions run via audio.
- 【Bluetooth Audio & Hands-Free Calling 】 - With Bluetooth 5.4 stable connection and open-ear design, our AI smart glasses features 3D surround sound music, delivering immersive audio directly to your ears. Built-in HD microphone ensures crystal-clear hands-free calls.

While the all-in-one button enables seamless control of power/flashlight/answering/hanging up/playing/pausing and wake-up the voice assistant —all with intuitive presses.
However, “prescription available” does not answer the practical buying questions. Warby Parker has not published the prescription range, progressive-lens support, lens materials, tint or transition options, high-prescription limits, insurance eligibility, replacement-lens policy, or whether every frame will be available with every lens type.
Buyers should also wait for details about frame thickness, weight, balance, pupillary-distance measurement, in-person fitting, repairs, electronics servicing, and what happens when the glasses are being charged or repaired. Smart prescription eyewear may not follow the same replacement process as ordinary Warby Parker frames.
Phone compatibility and ecosystem
Google says the glasses will pair with both Android and iOS phones. That is useful for iPhone owners, but compatibility does not guarantee identical features. Some functions may depend on the Gemini app, a particular operating-system version, a Google account, location and notification permissions, compatible third-party apps, or a supported country and language.
Samsung and Android users may receive deeper Android XR integration. Google has also described Wear OS watch gestures, but a compatible watch may be required for that control method. No complete compatibility chart has been published in the cited sources.
The official material presents the glasses as connected eyewear. It does not establish that they can perform all core functions independently of a phone. Until Google or Warby Parker publishes contrary specifications, prospective buyers should expect a phone connection to be important.

Privacy and safety questions
Cameras and microphones are central to the announced feature set. The glasses must understand the wearer’s speech and surroundings to answer visual questions, capture media, translate signs, and interact with personal apps.
Google says it has gathered feedback from trusted testers while developing products intended to respect both wearers and people nearby. That language is not a complete privacy specification. Before buying, readers should look for clear answers to these questions:
- Is a visible recording indicator always active during photo and video capture?
- Can the camera or microphone be disabled?
- Where are photos, audio, and AI queries processed?
- How long are recordings and visual data retained?
- Are glasses interactions stored in Gemini conversation history?
- Can bystanders easily tell when recording is taking place?
- Are the glasses restricted in schools, workplaces, courts, medical facilities, or private businesses?
- What age restrictions apply?
Multimodal AI can also be confidently wrong. It may misread a parking sign, misidentify a plant or product, mistranslate text, provide stale restaurant or transit information, or misunderstand a command. Users should confirm consequential actions—especially messages, purchases, bookings, ride requests, navigation decisions, and health-related interpretations—before relying on them.

How they compare with alternatives
Ray-Ban Meta
Ray-Ban Meta is the closest established comparison: fashion eyewear with cameras, microphones, speakers, voice assistance, and a companion-phone model. It is a Meta/Ray-Ban product available in the existing camera-and-audio smart-glasses category, whereas Warby Parker Intelligent Eyewear is an upcoming Google, Samsung, and Warby Parker platform product. Choose Ray-Ban Meta if you need a comparable product now; choose the Warby Parker model if prescription eyewear, Gemini, or Google’s Android XR ecosystem is the priority.
Samsung Galaxy XR
Samsung Galaxy XR is a much more substantial mixed-reality headset, not lightweight everyday prescription eyewear. Google’s launch announcement lists it at $1,799 or $149 per month. That price is for the headset and says nothing about the eventual price of Warby Parker glasses.
XREAL AURA
XREAL AURA represents the display-oriented side of Android XR. It is wired display eyewear intended to provide a visual spatial-computing canvas, making it a poor fit for someone seeking ordinary-looking, untethered prescription glasses with camera-based AI.
Ordinary Warby Parker glasses
Standard Warby Parker prescription glasses avoid batteries, software updates, cameras, microphones, app permissions, and subscription uncertainty. They are the practical choice for readers who need reliable prescription eyewear now and do not need Gemini, hands-free photography, or voice-controlled apps.
Google Pixel Buds with ordinary glasses
Pixel Buds paired with ordinary glasses can provide hands-free audio assistance without placing cameras on the wearer’s face. The trade-off is losing the glasses’ first-person camera view and integrated controls, but the setup may be easier to replace and less socially intrusive.
Bottom line
Warby Parker Intelligent Eyewear is a legitimate upcoming product, not a revived Google Glass and not a product currently available for ordinary purchase. The first model is described as lightweight, audio-first AI eyewear with Gemini, cameras, microphones, speakers, navigation, messaging, translation, and supported app actions. Google and Warby Parker say it is expected in fall 2026.
Its strongest potential advantage is combining prescription eyewear with Google’s multimodal AI. Its biggest unanswered questions are price, battery life, phone dependence, subscription requirements, privacy controls, iPhone feature parity, and the quality and serviceability of the prescription fit.
