Apple’s Link Bracelet is still one of the best-made metal bands for Apple Watch—but its quality is easier to appreciate than its value. Its articulated stainless-steel links, neat tool-free adjustment and secure butterfly clasp give the Series 10 a convincing traditional-watch look. The costs are real: it is heavy, expensive, can show scratches, and is less comfortable for hard exercise or sleep than a sport or fabric band.
The Series 10 color refresh makes the bracelet a more coherent match for Apple’s titanium watches, but it is still stainless steel, not titanium. Buy it for formal styling, careful fit and the feel of a substantial bracelet. Skip it if your priorities are lightness, workout comfort or getting the most practical band for your money.
What is the “10th Anniversary” Apple Watch?
The name is shorthand, not an official product title. Apple announced Apple Watch Series 10 on September 9, 2024, about a decade after the original Apple Watch arrived in 2014. Series 10 brought a thinner case, larger displays and new titanium models. Apple also refreshed the Link Bracelet’s finishes to coordinate with those titanium cases.

That distinction matters most if you are paying for a seamless-looking combination or expect a titanium bracelet. The steel links can still look deliberate beside the titanium case—the different finish may be subtle or more noticeable depending on the light—but it is not a material match. Hodinkee’s Series 10 coverage also notes the unusual steel-bracelet-and-titanium-case pairing.
Build quality: the reason to buy it
The Link Bracelet’s appeal is in its construction. Closely articulated links give it the look and movement of a conventional metal watch bracelet, rather than a strap with decorative metal pieces. Its compact butterfly closure folds away into the bracelet, and Apple’s link-release design lets you resize it without a conventional bracelet-sizing tool. Hodinkee has highlighted the engineering and tool-less adjustment as standout parts of the design.
When properly fitted, the links make a substantial, coherent band; the smooth underside and articulated construction are part of what separates it from a generic metal lookalike. The clasp is designed to sit neatly rather than dominate the wrist. Reports of occasional rattle or a squeak when the clasp is dusty or dirty exist, but those are not evidence of a universal defect. One long-term review describes those sorts of noises as observations during use, not an inevitable trait of every bracelet.

It also changes the character of the watch. On a Link Bracelet, the Apple Watch reads more like a formal everyday watch and less like a small computer strapped to the wrist. That is a genuine design benefit if you want the device to work with office clothes or dressier outfits. It does not add watch features: no extra sensors, battery life, or workout-tracking capability comes with the metal.

Fit and adjustment: excellent mechanism, but fit still matters
Tool-free link removal is one of the bracelet’s strongest practical advantages. A traditional metal bracelet may require a pin tool or a trip to a jeweler; Apple’s mechanism makes adjustment more approachable at home. Still, adjust it deliberately. Removing too many links can leave the bracelet uncomfortable once your wrist warms or expands, while too few can let the watch slide and make its weight more obvious.
Wear the watch where you normally would and aim for a stable fit that does not pinch or feel constricting. The clasp may need a different number of links on each side to sit centrally under your wrist. If you are between sizes, decide whether you prefer a slightly relaxed fit or a snugger one; neither an off-center clasp nor a watch that rocks around is ideal. Small-wrist wearers should be especially mindful of both the bracelet’s mass and how the watch sits.
Older Link Bracelet reviews report approximate wrist ranges of 135–195mm for a smaller version and 140–205mm for a larger one, but those are historical figures, not verified measurements for every current Series 10 listing. Check the exact size and fit information for the Apple SKU you plan to buy rather than relying on those ranges. Likewise, older reports put earlier versions at about 65g and 75g depending on size; those figures give a sense of the bracelet’s substantial character, but should not be treated as exact Series 10 weights. iMore’s earlier review provides that historical weight and fit context.

Comfort depends on whether you like a heavier watch and whether the bracelet is sized correctly. At a desk or while walking, a well-fitted Link Bracelet can feel stable and satisfyingly watch-like. If you are coming from silicone or fabric, expect the extra mass to be noticeable at first. A loose fit amplifies that sensation because the watch moves around; an overly tight fit can become uncomfortable as your wrist changes during the day.

- Office work and everyday wear: a strong use case if you like metal watches and get the fit right.
- Walking: generally practical when the watch is stable on the wrist.
- Running, cycling and gym sessions: less appealing than a lighter, more flexible sport band. The weight moves with your wrist, and sweat and grit can gather around links and the clasp.
- Sleep: personal, but the mass and folded clasp make it a poor default for anyone sensitive to weight or bulk overnight.
For fitness-first owners, this is better as a work or evening band than an all-purpose choice. Changing to a Sport Band or Sport Loop for exercise is the more comfortable option for many people.
Exercise, water and cleaning
The Link Bracelet can accompany ordinary daily activity, but it is not designed around workout comfort. It is heavier and less breathable than Apple’s sport and fabric bands, does not wick moisture, and offers less quick adjustment than a hook-and-loop Sport Loop. After a sweaty session, moisture and grime may linger against your skin or around the clasp and links.
That is a comfort and maintenance trade-off, not a reason to call the bracelet unsafe for water. Do not assume any stronger water-resistance claim than Apple’s current guidance supports. If you train hard or often, a washable Sport Band or breathable Sport Loop is the more practical companion; keep the Link Bracelet for the parts of the day when its appearance matters more than airflow.

Durability: robust construction, ordinary metal wear
The bracelet’s metal links are substantial and suited to normal daily wear, but structural strength does not mean a pristine finish forever. Stainless steel can pick up scuffs from desks, doorways and other hard surfaces. Dark finishes can make bright scratches particularly visible, and abrasion on a coated surface can be harder to disguise than wear on plain steel. Treat visible marks as normal cosmetic wear, not proof that the bracelet is failing.

Grime can work its way into the clasp or between links. If the clasp begins to squeak or the bracelet rattles, contamination or mechanical play may be involved; a reported noise alone does not establish that the mechanism is broken. Keep cleaning gentle, and do not use abrasive polishing on a coated finish unless you are prepared for it to alter the appearance. Steel handles everyday moisture more comfortably than leather, but the bracelet still does not breathe or dry like a fabric band. How well do the Series 10 colors match?
Apple says the updated Link Bracelet finishes are color-matched to the Series 10 titanium cases. In practice, that means a coordinated palette, not identical surfaces. Titanium and stainless steel reflect light differently, so a combination may look especially close in one setting and show a difference in another.
- Natural titanium and natural bracelet: the restrained, neutral pairing. Compare them in the lighting where you will wear the watch if you are sensitive to small differences in tone or sheen.
- Gold titanium and gold bracelet: the warmest, most jewelry-like option. The gold Link Bracelet was reported as separately available in the United States in November 2024; 9to5Mac reported a $349 price at release. That is a historical price, not confirmation of today’s price or availability.
- Slate titanium and slate bracelet: a darker, more understated match. Keep in mind that bright scratches may stand out against a dark finish.
The bracelet can also be paired with other compatible Apple Watch cases, but the color relationship may be less intentional. Jet black aluminum, for example, is not the same finish as slate titanium. Choose for the combination you actually want to wear, rather than assuming every dark case and dark bracelet will match.

Apple Watch bands have generally remained compatible across generations within corresponding case-size families. For example, 9to5Mac reported that a 42mm Series 2 band fits the 46mm Series 10, illustrating how a newer case size can map to an older band family. That does not make every band interchangeable: check the size family and the exact product listing before buying, particularly for older models or third-party bands. Apple Watch Ultra models use the larger band family, but verify the specific band’s fit before purchase.

Apple describes the Hermès Grand H as a satin-finished stainless-steel bracelet with removable links and a double butterfly closure. It is a credible luxury alternative, but not necessarily a better everyday bracelet; the right choice depends on whether you prefer that fashion design to Apple’s more restrained Link Bracelet.
Is the price justified?
In the United States, the gold version was reported at $349 when it launched separately in November 2024. That gives a useful historical indication of the price tier, but it is not a verified current price. Check Apple’s live listing for today’s price and availability before purchasing.
At roughly that price level, the bracelet is best understood as a luxury accessory rather than a technical upgrade. You are paying for steel construction and finishing, the adjustable-link mechanism, the compact clasp, and a design integrated with Apple Watch’s case and lugs. You are not buying better sensors, longer battery life, better workout tracking or scratch-proof protection—and you are not buying a titanium bracelet.
Its value is strongest if you would otherwise spend on a quality metal bracelet, plan to wear the Apple Watch as a formal daily watch, and will leave this band on much of the time. It is weaker if you view bands as inexpensive utility accessories, change bands frequently, or mostly wear the watch during workouts. A cheaper third-party metal band may resemble Apple’s, but resemblance alone does not establish equivalent link tolerances, clasp security, edge finishing, corrosion resistance or support. Check its fit, return policy and warranty, and do not assume it offers the same experience.
Who should buy it?
- Buy it if you want a premium traditional-watch appearance, value the precise link-adjustment mechanism, and are comfortable with a substantial steel bracelet.
- Consider it, but inspect the match if you are choosing it mainly to coordinate with a Series 10 titanium case. The finishes are color-matched, but the metals and their reflections differ.
- Pair it with a second band if you want the metal look for work or evenings but exercise regularly. A Sport Band or Sport Loop will be more practical for sweaty sessions.
- Skip it if you dislike heavy watches, sleep in your Apple Watch and are sensitive to clasp bulk, want maximum value, or need a band that is fast to loosen and tighten throughout the day.
- Small-wrist buyers should try before committing if possible. Fit affects both how the watch sits and how noticeable the bracelet’s weight feels.
Verdict: The Series 10 Link Bracelet is a superbly considered Apple Watch band for owners who want metal-watch construction and formal styling. Its best qualities are tactile and visual, not functional upgrades. Buy it because you value the feel, fit and finish enough to accept the weight, upkeep and price—not because it is the universally best band for every Apple Watch owner.
