The HONOR Watch 4 is a Bluetooth smartwatch with a 1.75-inch AMOLED display, GPS-supported workout recording, health tracking and calls through a paired phone. Its main appeal is a battery rated by HONOR for up to 14 days under specified typical-use conditions. It is not a full smartwatch replacement: there is no established NFC payment support or cellular service, and HONOR’s UK buying page lists a security-update period ending in August 2024. In 2026, consider it only if you find it at a substantial discount and its phone-dependent features meet your needs.
What the HONOR Watch 4 is
The HONOR Watch 4 is a conventional Bluetooth smartwatch, not a cellular watch. It is designed for timekeeping, notifications, Bluetooth calls, workouts and general wellness tracking, with a companion phone handling setup and connected features through the HONOR Health app. It is a 2023-era model, so current stock and support may vary by country.
Do not confuse it with the HONOR Watch 4 Pro. That is a separate model, and its specifications should not be assumed to apply to the Watch 4.

Display and design
The rectangular AMOLED panel measures 1.75 inches diagonally, with a 390 × 450 resolution and a maximum refresh-rate claim of 60 Hz. HONOR notes that its diagonal measurement uses rounded corners, so the visible area is smaller than that of a sharp-cornered rectangle with the same nominal diagonal. The stated 60 Hz is a maximum, not a promise that every screen or mode runs at that rate.
HONOR describes the middle frame as 6-series aluminum alloy and lists silicone straps for standard configurations. It advertises more than 300 watch faces, but that is a catalog figure rather than a count of faces preloaded on the watch; the selection can depend on region and app availability. HONOR says iOS users cannot download paid watch faces.
Calls and phone compatibility
The watch can show incoming-call information, answer or reject calls, and access contacts and call logs while connected to a phone. Calls use the paired phone’s number and connection; the watch does not provide independent cellular calling. HONOR’s stated minimums for Bluetooth calling are Android 9.0 or later and iOS 11.0 or later. Setup, synchronization and watch-face management depend on the HONOR Health app.

That makes the Watch 4 potentially useful with a compatible Android phone or iPhone, but compatibility does not mean every feature is identical across platforms. Paid watch-face downloads are specifically unavailable on iOS, and the Watch 4 is not established as offering deep integration with third-party services. Check the app’s current feature support before buying if syncing to a particular health or fitness platform is essential.
HONOR’s user guide confirms the call functions. It also notes that Do Not Disturb or sleep mode can suppress vibration or screen lighting for incoming calls, even when call notifications are otherwise allowed.
If pairing or calls fail
- Confirm that the phone meets HONOR’s stated operating-system minimum and that HONOR Health is installed and up to date.
- Allow the app the Bluetooth and other permissions it requests, and pair through HONOR Health rather than relying only on the phone’s Bluetooth settings.
- For calls, check that the watch is connected for calling, the phone is nearby, and call and contacts permissions are enabled.
- Check Do Not Disturb and sleep settings if calls arrive without the expected vibration or screen lighting.
- If the watch was previously paired, remove its old pairing or reset it before trying again. Menu names can change with app and software updates.
GPS, workouts and health tracking
HONOR’s materials refer to GPS-enabled exercise and list GPS in the specifications, so the Watch 4 supports GPS-based outdoor workout recording. GPS should not be mistaken for turn-by-turn navigation: the available product information does not establish maps, route guidance, multi-band GPS or particular satellite-constellation support. Track quality can also vary with surroundings, including buildings and tree cover.

HONOR advertises heart-rate, blood-oxygen, stress and sleep monitoring, along with other wellness indicators. These are estimates for general awareness, not medical measurements. HONOR says the watch is not a medical device; readings can be affected by fit, movement, skin contact, exercise and environmental conditions, and should not be used to diagnose a condition or make treatment decisions.

The “Burn Fat Fast” feature is described by HONOR as limited to Outdoor Run mode and intended for health management rather than medical diagnosis. Do not treat its output, calorie estimates or fitness-age-style indicators as clinical assessments.

HONOR specifies a 451 mAh battery and claims up to 14 days under a defined typical-use scenario. That scenario includes continuous heart-rate measurement in Smart mode, Healthy Sleep enabled, 30 minutes of Bluetooth calls and 30 minutes of music playback per week, 90 minutes of GPS-on exercise per week, notifications enabled, about 50 messages, six incoming calls and three alarms per day, and roughly 200 screen activations per day. HONOR says actual results vary with the environment and user habits.

Independent results are less uniform. Wareable found the claim broadly credible in ordinary use and reported about a 10% battery drop during an hour of outdoor running, while noting that HONOR did not provide a separate GPS battery figure. Tech Advisor found endurance weaker than the headline claim in its testing. These observations are not guarantees for another user or a fixed prediction for GPS runtime.
Frequent GPS sessions, calls, music, high brightness, repeated screen wake-ups and intensive monitoring can all reduce runtime. Treat 14 days as HONOR’s conditional maximum, not a promise of how long every charge will last.
What the Watch 4 does not establish
- Contactless payments: Tech Advisor lists the lack of NFC as a drawback, and HONOR’s reviewed product materials do not advertise NFC or payment support. Do not buy it expecting tap-to-pay.
- Phone-free cellular use: The calling feature depends on a paired phone; there is no established LTE service for this model.
- A broad smartwatch app platform: The available product information does not establish a full third-party app store comparable to major smartwatch platforms.
- Advanced navigation: GPS workout recording is supported, but maps and turn-by-turn directions are not established by the cited product information.
- Medical diagnosis: The health features are wellness tools, not a substitute for clinical equipment or medical advice.
Support, availability and buying in 2026
HONOR’s UK buying-page result lists a security-update period of August 2023 to August 2024. That date range does not prove that the watch has stopped working or that every app or firmware function is disabled, but it is a relevant concern for someone buying an older connected device in 2026. HONOR’s UK Watch 4 buying page has also shown a back-in-stock prompt rather than a normal current price, so availability should be checked in the buyer’s own market.
As a UK comparison only, HONOR’s Watch 5 buying page showed a limited-time £99.99 offer for selected black and gold models when crawled in August 2026. This is a dated UK price signal, not a current guarantee or a price applicable elsewhere. If a Watch 4 is close to that local price, the newer model is the more sensible starting point; verify the Watch 5’s exact features, warranty and local price rather than assuming they from the generation name.
Check the HONOR UK Watch 4 buying page and the HONOR UK Watch 5 buying page for regional availability. A discount should be large enough to account for the Watch 4’s age and missing or unestablished features, and second-hand buyers should also factor in condition and warranty.

- You want a large AMOLED screen, basic notifications and fitness tracking rather than a full smartwatch platform.
- You value infrequent charging and accept that actual battery life depends on how you use GPS, calls and the screen.
- You are comfortable keeping a compatible phone nearby for calls and connected features.
- You can find it substantially cheaper than a newer alternative and are comfortable with the listed support dates.
Choose something else if
- You need contactless payments, cellular calling or emergency connectivity without your phone.
- You rely on a rich third-party app ecosystem, advanced navigation or deep integration with Apple services.
- You require medical-grade health measurements or long-term software-support assurances.
- You use an iPhone and paid watch-face downloads matter to you.
