HONOR unveiled the Watch 5 in China on October 30, 2024, and began sales on November 8 at ¥999. It pairs a 1.85-inch AMOLED display with five-system satellite positioning and health-tracking tools. HONOR claims up to 15 days of battery life, but that is a manufacturer-tested maximum, not a promise for frequent GPS or eSIM use. China-specific services may also differ from the international version.
China launch price and availability
The China announcement followed the Watch 5’s earlier international presentation at IFA 2024; it was not the model’s first appearance worldwide. HONOR set the China launch price at ¥999. The HONOR China store listing shows a ¥999 listed price and an estimated promotional price of ¥849 for at least one silicone-strap configuration. That offer is configuration-dependent and time-sensitive; the store page indicates an order or arrival-notification workflow, so check current stock and price before buying.
China launch materials list Obsidian Black, Dawn Gold, Pine Green, Moonlight Gray and Snowfield White, with strap materials varying by configuration. HONOR has a UK product page, but the available information does not establish a current global price or U.S. availability. A UK listing should not be taken as proof that every configuration or feature is available in every country.

Display, design and fit
The Watch 5 has a 1.85-inch AMOLED display with 450 × 390 resolution and a refresh rate of up to 60Hz. HONOR measures the diagonal as a standard rectangle, so the visible area is slightly smaller because of the rounded corners. The listed pixel density is approximately 322 pixels per inch.

The curved-square body measures about 45.6 × 39.4 × 11mm and weighs about 35g without its strap. HONOR’s China specification lists a 150–200mm wrist range, one physical control with short-press, long-press and rotation functions, and 4GB of internal storage; some capacity is occupied by system software. Launch coverage describes an aluminum-alloy front case and reinforced polymer-fiber rear case. Strap materials and colors depend on the market and configuration.
GPS and sports tracking
Integrated GNSS supports BeiDou, GPS, GLONASS, Galileo and QZSS, making the watch suitable for recording outdoor routes without relying entirely on a phone. HONOR calls the positioning system Polaris in China and AccuTrack on its international product page. The five-system support is listed in the China specification and UK product page.
HONOR’s China launch announcement claims that signal strength is 100% higher and outdoor running-track accuracy 25% better than on the Watch 4. These are manufacturer comparisons, not independent test results. Satellite positioning can still be affected by buildings, tunnels, tree cover and other poor-signal conditions.

The China listing counts 97 sports modes: 12 professional modes and 85 customizable modes. It also describes automatic recognition for selected activities, including some running, walking and gym-machine exercises. Mode counts and functions can vary by market or firmware.
Health and wellness features—and their limits
Listed tools include heart-rate monitoring, blood-oxygen (SpO₂) readings, sleep tracking and management, morning health reports and quick health scans. China-market promotional material also mentions stress and broader wellness metrics, heart-health-related data and respiratory information. HONOR’s international page notes that SpO₂ is unavailable in Chinese Taiwan, Japan and South Korea; individual features may also depend on the market, phone, software and regulatory conditions.
HONOR states that the Watch 5 is not a medical device. Its measurements are intended for reference and health management, not diagnosis or treatment. It should not be treated as a blood-pressure monitor or as a way to diagnose heart disease.

Battery life, charging and connectivity
The battery is rated at 480mAh and charges through a magnetic pogo-pin cradle. HONOR China lists a theoretical charging time of about one hour at 25°C.

HONOR advertises up to 15 days in Bluetooth mode. Its UK product page ties that maximum to a laboratory scenario that includes limited Bluetooth calls and music each week, 90 minutes of GPS exercise per week, notifications and about 200 screen activations per day. China’s specification also lists up to 10 days in eSIM “one number, two devices” mode and about three days with an independent-number eSIM or without a connected phone. These are separate manufacturer estimates; GPS sessions, eSIM, calls, music, frequent notifications, health monitoring and an always-on display can reduce actual endurance.
The China specification lists Bluetooth 5.2 with BLE/BR/EDR, a built-in microphone and speaker for Bluetooth calling, NFC and no Wi-Fi. NFC hardware does not guarantee that a local bank, wallet or transit service will work. Likewise, eSIM activation depends on the exact model, carrier and service; “one number, two devices” is not the same as independent cellular service. Do not assume China-market eSIM or payment functions transfer to another country.

China and international versions: check before importing
Regional versions are not interchangeable in every practical respect. HONOR’s China product listing and its UK product page describe different market contexts; buyers should verify the exact model and local support rather than assume a feature advertised for one version will work elsewhere.

HONOR’s HONOR Health supported-country list is worth checking before purchase because availability can differ between Android and iOS and by country. Compatibility on paper does not guarantee feature parity.

The Watch 5 is rated 5ATM and IP68. HONOR says it is suitable for everyday exposure and shallow-water swimming with an appropriate waterproof strap, but not for diving, high-speed water, hot showers, saunas, hot springs or deep-water activities. Leather and some metal straps are unsuitable for swimming. Water resistance can decline with age, impact and wear; after seawater exposure, HONOR recommends rinsing with fresh water and drying the watch.

Who should consider the HONOR Watch 5?
- Casual fitness users: The large AMOLED screen, onboard multi-system GNSS and broad exercise-mode listing cover common activity tracking needs.
- Travelers prioritizing fewer charging stops: The battery capacity and HONOR’s tested maximum are appealing, provided the 15-day figure is understood as a scenario-specific claim rather than a guarantee.
- HONOR-phone owners: They may benefit from closer integration, although individual international features can require an HONOR phone with MagicOS 8.0 or later.
- Serious runners or cyclists: The built-in GNSS is useful, but HONOR’s accuracy improvements are manufacturer claims. Buyers who need detailed training tools should check that the available software and sports metrics meet their needs.
- iPhone owners: The China specification lists iOS compatibility, but that does not mean all services or features match the Android experience. Verify regional app availability and the exact functions you need.
- Buyers seeking medical monitoring or a large app ecosystem: This is not a medical device, and the available information does not establish a broad third-party smartwatch-app platform.
For an imported China unit, confirm carrier activation, payment compatibility, language and app-region support, local warranty, and after-sales service before ordering. Android/iOS compatibility alone does not guarantee these services.
