There is no single full-charge time for every Galaxy Buds model. Samsung publishes quick-charge claims for some older models: a 5–15-minute top-up can provide roughly one to three hours of playback, depending on the model. For a full charge, check the earbuds’ battery status rather than relying on a universal time estimate.
It also matters what you mean by “Galaxy Buds”: the earbuds charge inside their case, and the case has its own battery. With both earbuds in the case while it is connected to power, the earbuds and case charge simultaneously.
How long do Galaxy Buds take to charge?
Samsung does not give one full-charge duration that applies to every Galaxy Buds generation. Charging time depends on the model, how depleted the earbuds or case are, charging method, temperature, battery condition and whether the earbuds are seated properly.
For that reason, treat the indicator or a battery reading as the completion check—not a time such as “one hour” that may not fit your model. Samsung notes that a completely depleted pair or case may need 20–30 minutes before it can turn on. That is a recovery period, not an estimate for reaching 100%.

Samsung’s Galaxy Buds charging guidance lists the following model-specific quick-charge results. These are playback claims after a short charge, not full-charge times:

“Up to” figures are Samsung’s stated results, not a guarantee of your listening time. Actual playback varies with settings and use. Samsung does not publish an equivalent quick-charge figure for every newer model, including Buds3, Buds3 Pro, Buds4 and Buds4 Pro; do not apply the older models’ figures to them.
Earbuds, case or both: what is charging?
- Earbuds: They recharge while stored in the case, provided the case has battery remaining.
- Case: It has its own battery and can be charged by cable, or wirelessly on compatible models.
- Both together: Put the earbuds in the case and connect the case to power; the earbuds and case charge at the same time.
A charged case does not prove the earbuds are full, and full earbuds do not mean the case has much charge left. Check their statuses separately where possible. Samsung explains the charging procedure in its Galaxy Buds charging instructions.

How to charge Galaxy Buds
- Place the left earbud in the left slot and the right earbud in the right slot. Make sure each earbud’s charging contacts meet the case contacts.
- Close the case.
- Connect the case to a USB-C power source using a compatible, undamaged cable, or place it on a compatible wireless charger if your model supports wireless charging.
- Leave the earbuds in the case until their status shows they are charged. When available, check the battery readings in the Galaxy Wearable app.
Do not put wet or dirty earbuds into the case. Dry them and check for debris before charging; moisture or grime at the contacts can interfere with charging.
How to tell when Galaxy Buds are fully charged
The earbud indicator and case indicator report different things. Samsung’s indicator guidance gives these meanings:

| Case light red | Case is charging or its battery is below 30% |

| Case light yellow | Case battery is between 30% and 60% |
| Case light green | Case is fully charged or its battery is above 60% |
| Case light blue | Firmware update is in progress |
In particular, a green case light is not proof that both earbuds are full: Samsung’s case guidance also uses green for a level above 60%. Check the earbuds’ own indicators or battery readings to confirm them.

Check the battery percentage
On supported Android devices, the Galaxy Wearable app can show earbud battery status and, on newer models, the case’s level. Availability and the way battery information is displayed vary by model and device. When the app shows separate readings, distinguish the left earbud, right earbud and case. A combined estimate of remaining listening time is not the same as the current percentage of either earbud.

Can Galaxy Buds charge wirelessly?
Samsung lists wireless charging support for Galaxy Buds3, Buds3 Pro, Galaxy Buds, Buds2, Buds2 Pro, Buds+, Buds Live and Buds Pro; the Buds4 and Buds4 Pro cases also support wireless charging according to their Buds4 and Buds4 Pro product pages. Use a compatible Qi charging pad, or a compatible Samsung phone’s Wireless PowerShare feature. Check your specific model’s support information rather than assuming every Galaxy Buds case supports wireless charging.
For wireless charging, center the case on the pad and remove a case cover if charging is unreliable: Samsung warns that some covers can interfere. Wireless charging is convenient, but alignment and covers can make it less dependable for troubleshooting. If a case charges slowly or inconsistently on a pad, try USB-C first. Wireless PowerShare is useful for an emergency top-up, but it uses the phone’s battery.

If Galaxy Buds charge slowly or one earbud will not charge
Work through these checks before assuming the battery or case has failed:
- Reseat the earbuds. Confirm left and right are in their matching slots and the contacts are aligned. Remove and reinsert an earbud that is not charging.
- Check the contacts. Make sure the earbuds and case contacts are clean and dry. Do not store wet or dirty earbuds in the case.
- Check the case’s charge. Earbuds cannot recharge from an empty case. Connect the case to power and check its indicator as well as each earbud’s status.
- Try a cable. If you were using a wireless pad, test with a known-good USB-C cable and power source. This helps distinguish a placement or pad issue from a case problem.
- Consider temperature. An abnormal-temperature warning can disable charging. If an indicator flashes red, stop charging while the earbuds or case are unusually hot; let them return to a normal temperature before trying again.
- Allow time after a deep discharge. A completely depleted pair or case may need 20–30 minutes connected to power before it responds or turns on.
- Check left and right separately. Use the Galaxy Wearable app when available, and look for the individual earbud’s indicator. The case light alone does not confirm both earbuds are charging.
If the case will not charge, remove any cover, try a known-good cable and adapter, test another outlet, and inspect the USB-C port for debris. Do not insert metal objects into the port. For wireless charging, recenter the case on the pad and remove a cover that may be blocking it. If the case or earbuds continue to show a flashing-red error after they have returned to a normal temperature, or still fail to charge after these checks, contact Samsung support.
How long does a full charge last?
Playback time is separate from charging time. Samsung’s “up to” total-playback figures below include use of the charging case; they are not estimates of how long it takes to charge. Actual results vary with ANC, calls, volume, Bluetooth conditions, codec and other settings.
