Change the distance unit in the companion phone app—not on the watch. In current Zepp, go to Profile > More > Settings > Units, select Imperial (or miles), then synchronize your Amazfit Bip.
Quick steps in Zepp
- Keep the Bip connected to your phone with Bluetooth enabled.
- Open Zepp.
- Tap Profile. In some versions, tap Home first, then Profile.
- Tap More, then Settings.
- Open Units.
- Choose Imperial, or select miles if distance is offered separately.
- Return to the Zepp home screen. Pull down to refresh, or wait for synchronization to finish.
- Check the Bip’s workout screen or start a new activity to confirm that distance is shown in miles.
Amazfit’s current support instructions place unit controls at Zepp > Profile > More > Settings > Units. The watch adopts the app’s setting during synchronization.
Original Bip, Bip S and other older models
The original Bip and some older variants may still be paired with the Amazfit app, Mi Fit or Zepp Life rather than the current Zepp app. Use the app that already owns the watch pairing:

- Open Settings or Units.
- Set the measurement system to Imperial.
- Return to the app’s home screen and pull down to synchronize.
Older Bip documentation describes the shorter Profile > Settings > Units route and a manual pull-to-sync step (original Bip instructions; legacy Bip FAQ). Do not pair the same watch to a second app just to change units.

What Imperial changes
On newer Bip models, the Units screen can control more than distance: kilometers may become miles, kilograms may become pounds, and Celsius may become Fahrenheit. The Bip 5 manual identifies distance, weight and temperature as unit categories (manual). Depending on your model and app version, these may be separate controls or part of one Imperial/Metric choice, so review each option before saving.
If the watch still shows kilometers
- Confirm that Zepp itself now displays Imperial or miles.
- Return to the app home screen and refresh manually.
- Check that the Bip appears connected and is near the phone.
- Toggle Bluetooth off and on, then close and reopen the app.
- Restart the watch if it still has not synchronized.
- Open the watch’s device page and check for a pending app or firmware synchronization.
The exact labels vary by model, app redesign, operating system and region. Also try Profile > Settings > Units, Profile > More > Settings > Units, or Profile > [your Bip] > Settings. The control is normally in the phone app, not the Bip’s own Settings menu.

Only a watch face shows “km”
Custom or third-party watch faces can contain a fixed kilometer field or fail to honor the global unit preference. Test the built-in watch face, the workout screen and the Zepp activity record separately. If those use miles, replace the custom face with one that supports imperial units. User reports describe this as an occasional compatibility problem, not a universal Amazfit specification (example).
Workout alerts still use kilometers
Some legacy firmware, workout reminders or goal alerts may retain kilometers even after the app is set to Imperial. This is model-, firmware- and workout-dependent. Verify the normal workout data and newly synchronized activity record before treating one alert or face as proof that the setting failed. Reports involving Bip 3 Pro and older models are anecdotal (example).

How to verify the change
- The app’s Units page shows Imperial or miles.
- The standard watch face or workout screen shows “mi” rather than “km.”
- A newly completed workout appears in miles in the Zepp activity record.
Changing the preference changes supported displays; it should not be assumed to permanently recalculate every historical workout. Existing records and individual firmware screens can behave differently by model and app version.
Miles and kilometers conversion
For a quick manual conversion:
- Miles = kilometers × 0.621371
- Kilometers = miles × 1.609344
For example, 5 km is approximately 3.11 miles.

Can I change kilometers to miles directly on the Amazfit Bip?
Usually no. Change the setting in the companion app, then synchronize the watch.

Why is the Units option missing?
Try Profile > Settings > Units, Profile > More > Settings > Units, or the settings page for the paired watch. Menu names differ between Bip generations and apps.

It can. Zepp’s Units screen may include distance, weight and temperature, so inspect the individual controls where available.

Will old workout records be converted?
Do not assume so. The preference changes supported displays, while historical records and legacy firmware may handle units differently.
Which app works with the original Amazfit Bip?
Use the app already paired with it—often Amazfit, Mi Fit or Zepp Life. Newer Bip models generally use Zepp.
The Bottom Line
Set Zepp > Profile > More > Settings > Units > Imperial, then refresh the app so the Bip synchronizes. If one custom face or legacy alert still says km, check the standard workout display before troubleshooting further.
