On most current Galaxy Watches, change weather settings in the Galaxy Wearable app on your paired phone: Watch settings → Apps → Weather → App settings → Settings. There you can adjust temperature units, automatic refresh, and location options. Exact labels and available choices vary by watch, phone, region, and software version.
Before you start: identify your watch and phone
Galaxy Watch4 and newer models use Wear OS and are managed through Galaxy Wearable on a compatible Android phone. The original Galaxy Watch, Galaxy Watch3, Galaxy Watch Active, and Galaxy Watch Active2 use the older Tizen platform and may have different menus. Samsung’s iPhone instructions apply to those listed older models—not to every Galaxy Watch. Samsung’s compatibility guidance explains the Android requirement for newer Wear OS watches.
Make sure Galaxy Wearable shows that your watch is connected before changing settings. Samsung notes that menus and options can vary with the model, phone, carrier or service provider, and software version. Treat the paths below as the standard route, not as guaranteed wording on every device. See Samsung’s Wear OS navigation guide and watch permission instructions.

Change Fahrenheit to Celsius, or Celsius to Fahrenheit
- Open Galaxy Wearable on the paired phone.
- Tap Watch settings → Apps → Weather.
- Tap App settings → Settings.
- Choose the available Unit, Temperature unit, or Unit of measurement option and select the unit you want.
- Open Weather on the watch to check the result.
Samsung places the weather unit control in the Weather app’s settings. The exact label can differ by software. Changing this setting does not necessarily change every temperature display on the watch: a third-party watch face or weather complication may use its own provider or display rules. If the Weather app changes but the face does not, refresh the app, switch faces and back, or reselect the weather complication. Changing Samsung Health measurement settings is not a guaranteed substitute for changing the Weather app’s unit. For face-specific controls, see Samsung’s watch-face guide.

Change how often weather refreshes
- In Galaxy Wearable, go to Watch settings → Apps → Weather.
- Tap App settings → Settings → Auto refresh.
- Choose an interval offered on your watch. Every hour is one example Samsung documents; other options may vary.
A more frequent interval may keep the forecast fresher, but it can mean more background activity and may have battery or connectivity implications. Samsung does not publish a universal battery cost for these settings. An hourly selection is not a promise that every complication will visibly update exactly once an hour: permissions, connection, app state, and the selected watch face also affect what appears.
Use your current location or choose a city
Current location follows where you are, which is useful when traveling. A fixed city is more predictable if you want to keep an eye on home, work, or another place. Location may come from the watch or, when connected, the phone; it is not accurate to assume the watch always relies on its own GPS.

Turn on current location
- In Galaxy Wearable, open Watch settings → Apps → Weather → App settings → Settings.
- Turn on Use current location.
- Return to the Weather settings and open Locations.
- Approve a location prompt if one appears, then open Weather on the watch.
If location still does not work on a Wear OS watch, check the watch itself: open Settings → Apps → Permission manager, choose the relevant Weather app, and allow the required location access. Also review location permissions on the phone for Galaxy Wearable and any relevant watch plugin. Menu names can differ. Samsung explains watch permissions in its Permission manager guide and location requirements in its GPS setup instructions.
Add, remove, or prioritize a city
- Open Galaxy Wearable → Watch settings → Apps → Weather → App settings → Settings.
- Enable Use current location if the app requires it for location management, then return to the prior screens and tap Locations.
- Tap the plus sign, search for a city or place, and select the intended result. Check carefully if several places share a name.
- To delete a location, open the three-dot menu, choose Edit, select the entry, then tap Delete or Delete all, as available.
- To prioritize a location, select it and tap Set favorite, if that option appears.
Samsung advises opening Weather on the watch after managing the location list. A favorite city does not necessarily become the location shown by every watch face: the face may have its own complication settings or location behavior. If a nearby suburb is not listed, try searching for the larger recognized city serving that area.

Show weather on the watch face
A Weather app contains forecast screens; a tile or widget is a glanceable panel; a complication places a small piece of information on the watch face. These are related but not interchangeable. To add a complication on a compatible Wear OS face:
- Touch and hold the current watch face.
- Tap Customize, if offered.
- Swipe to the complication area and tap the slot you want to change.
- Select an available weather complication, then use the on-screen save instruction or press the Home/Power key.
You can also try Galaxy Wearable → Watch faces, choose a face, tap Customize, select a weather option for a supported slot, and apply the face. Not every face is customizable, and complication choices depend on the face. A third-party face may use another weather provider and update differently. If weather is absent from the choices, try a face with a compatible complication slot rather than changing unrelated phone weather settings. Samsung documents these limitations in its watch-face instructions.

Fix weather that is stale, incorrect, or missing
Work through these checks in order. This helps identify whether the issue is data, location, synchronization, or only the face’s complication.
- Check the connection. Open Galaxy Wearable and confirm the watch is connected. If it is disconnected, turn on Bluetooth on both devices, keep them close, and reconnect through Galaxy Wearable. For remote connections, confirm that Wi-Fi or mobile connectivity is available.
- Check location access. On a Wear OS watch, open Settings → Apps → Permission manager, select Weather or the relevant provider, and review its location permission. Also check phone-side permissions for Galaxy Wearable and the relevant plugin.
- Check location services. Confirm location is enabled on the phone or watch as applicable. On some older models the menu may be simply Settings → Location. GPS can be affected by disconnected devices, indoor conditions, or obstructions; a weather issue is not necessarily a GPS failure.
- Open Weather on the watch. If the app loads current information but the face does not, focus on the complication or face settings rather than resetting the watch.
- Reopen the app. If Weather is frozen or unresponsive, force-stop it through Galaxy Wearable if that option is available, then open it again. Samsung’s app troubleshooting guide covers force-stopping misbehaving apps.
- Restart both devices. Restart the watch and phone, reconnect in Galaxy Wearable, and open Weather again. Samsung includes restarts in its sync troubleshooting steps.
- Update software and apps. Check for watch software, Galaxy Wearable, Weather, and watch-face updates. Updates can address bugs, but do not assume an update will change every menu label or feature.
- Review the location choice. Re-select the city or current-location option, then open the watch app to let the list refresh. Confirm that you chose the intended result if several cities have similar names.
- Test another face. If the Weather app itself is current but the complication is not, select a different face with a weather complication. The face may not use the Samsung Weather source.
- Reset only as a last resort. Back up the watch before resetting, then pair it again and restore as appropriate. Resetting is disruptive and should follow connection, permission, restart, and update checks—not precede them.
Older Galaxy Watches and iPhone users
Samsung’s weather instructions for iOS cover the original Galaxy Watch, Galaxy Watch3, Galaxy Watch Active, and Galaxy Watch Active2. These Tizen watches use a different companion-app and settings experience, so the Wear OS menu path above may not match. Samsung’s weather guide provides the model-specific directions and identifies the older iPhone-compatible models. Galaxy Watch4 and newer Wear OS models require a compatible Android phone for setup and management; they should not be treated as having the same iPhone workflow.

Why a weather setting may seem to revert
- The face is showing another source. A third-party complication can have its own provider, units, or refresh behavior.
- The app and face are out of sync. Check the Weather app directly before concluding its settings failed.
- Location is not available. Current-location weather depends on permissions and location services; a fixed city can be a useful alternative.
- The watch is not synchronized. Confirm Galaxy Wearable is connected and reopen the Weather app.
- The interface differs by model or software. Older Tizen watches and newer Wear OS watches do not share identical menus, and labels can change.
If Samsung Weather lacks a feature you want, a third-party weather app may be an option on Wear OS, provided it supports your watch and the face you use. Its permissions, complications, units, and update behavior may differ. Older Tizen watches use a different app ecosystem, so do not assume an app available for Wear OS is also available there. Samsung describes the separate companion and app ecosystems here.
