Samsung Galaxy Buds connect to phones over Bluetooth. On a Samsung Galaxy phone, open the case near the phone and follow the connection prompt; on another Android phone, use Galaxy Wearable or Bluetooth settings; on an iPhone, pair in Settings → Bluetooth. If the Buds do not appear, use the pairing procedure for your exact model—those steps differ between generations.
Choose the right setup method

Samsung notes that connection steps and on-screen labels can differ by earbud model, phone manufacturer, software version, and region. See its phone connection guide for model-specific context.
Before you pair
- Charge the case and both earbuds, and check that each earbud sits correctly on its charging contacts.
- Turn on Bluetooth on your phone and keep it close to the case.
- Identify the Buds generation. Pairing mode is not the same on every model.
- If the Buds keep connecting to a previous phone, temporarily turn Bluetooth off on that phone.
Connect to a Samsung Galaxy phone
- Put both earbuds in the case, close the lid for several seconds, then reopen it.
- Keep the open case beside your unlocked Galaxy phone.
- When the connection pop-up appears, tap Connect and follow the prompts. Review requested permissions and confirm setup.
- Wait for the connection to finish, then play audio to check that it comes through the Buds.
For a manual connection, open Settings → Connections → Bluetooth, find the Buds under available devices, and tap their name. Samsung’s One UI 8.0 instructions describe direct Bluetooth/QuickPair setup on updated Galaxy devices; do not assume that exact prompt or app requirement applies to every phone or Buds generation.

Connect to a non-Samsung Android phone
- Install or update Galaxy Wearable from Google Play.
- Open the app and tap Start if prompted.
- Place both earbuds in the case and open the lid. Select the Buds when they appear.
- Tap Pair or the equivalent confirmation, then allow the requested permissions.
- If prompted, sign in to a Samsung account and let Galaxy Wearable or Galaxy Buds Manager finish setup.
- Test music and a call. Check that both earbuds work and that any controls you want are available.
Bluetooth carries audio and calls; Galaxy Wearable supplies setup and model-dependent options such as firmware management, fit tests, equalizer settings, and control customization. You can often pair over Bluetooth without the app, but that does not guarantee access to every Samsung feature.

Connect to an iPhone
- Open the case with both earbuds inside. If they do not show up, put them into pairing mode using the procedure for your model below.
- On the iPhone, open Settings → Bluetooth and turn Bluetooth on.
- Under Other Devices, tap the Galaxy Buds name. Wait for it to show as connected.
- Play audio. If necessary, select the Buds as the audio output on the phone.
Samsung says its iOS Galaxy Buds app supports Galaxy Buds+ and Galaxy Buds Live; other Buds can still pair as ordinary Bluetooth headphones. Without supported app access, do not expect Samsung’s app-based settings or updates, and do not assume every control or feature will be available. Basic audio, calls, and some onboard controls may work, depending on the model. Samsung’s pairing and compatibility guidance explains the distinction.
For Buds4 and Buds4 Pro, Samsung’s March 3, 2026 compatibility chart separates Galaxy phones, other Android devices, and other Bluetooth devices. Standard audio and call streaming are listed across those categories, while some advanced features are limited or unavailable outside supported Galaxy phones.

Put each Galaxy Buds generation into pairing mode

These procedures are generation-specific; using the wrong one can make it seem as if the Buds are missing. Samsung’s model pairing instructions cover the procedures above, including the Buds3 case button.

Pairing saves the Buds on a device; it does not necessarily mean the Buds can stay connected to two devices at once. To add another phone, put the earbuds into the correct pairing mode and select them on the new phone. You do not normally need to factory-reset them just to switch devices. If the first phone takes the connection, turn its Bluetooth off temporarily, then retry pairing on the new phone.

Some supported Samsung phones and tablets signed in to the same Samsung account can share Bluetooth information or switch automatically, but those conveniences depend on the Buds model and devices. They are not a universal way to switch among iPhones, PCs, non-Samsung Android phones, and every Galaxy Buds generation. See Samsung’s connection and switching guidance.
For a device already paired, turn on its Bluetooth, open the case with the earbuds inside, and wait for reconnection. If it does not happen, tap the Buds name in Bluetooth settings or use the connect control in Galaxy Wearable where available.

If your Galaxy Buds do not appear or connect
- Nothing appears in the device list: Close the case, wait a few seconds, reopen it, and try the correct manual pairing procedure for your generation.
- The wrong phone connects: Turn Bluetooth off on the previously paired phone, then put the Buds back into pairing mode and select them on the intended phone.
- The Buds disappear after waiting: Samsung says active pairing may end after about three minutes without a successful connection. Close and reopen the case, then search again.
- The case or earbuds may be low on charge: Charge them and check that both earbuds sit on their contacts. Carefully clear obvious debris from the contacts if needed; avoid applying liquid or force.
- The phone sees the Buds but setup fails: Grant requested permissions, update Galaxy Wearable if you use it, restart the phone, and retry. If app setup fails, try Bluetooth settings; if Bluetooth connects only basic audio and setup is incomplete, try Galaxy Wearable.
- Only one earbud connects or plays sound: Return both earbuds to the case, confirm each is charging, then reopen the case and retry. If the problem persists, consult Samsung’s restart/reset instructions.
If the phone has a stale saved connection, use its Bluetooth settings to forget or unpair the Buds, then pair again. Reserve a reset for persistent problems: it clears earbud settings and requires setup again. Samsung documents restart and reset options in its Galaxy Buds recovery guide. A reset is not ordinarily required merely to pair with another phone.
Confirm that the connection is complete
- Play music and verify sound comes from both left and right earbuds.
- Make a test call and check that call audio and the microphone work.
- Check battery levels where your phone or companion app supports them.
- Try noise controls, touch controls, and other features you expect—but availability depends on the Buds model, phone, software, and app support.
A Bluetooth “Connected” label confirms a link, not that every setup step or Samsung-specific feature is available on that phone.
