For a true weekly steps view, use the Health app on your iPhone: open Health, go to Search (or Activity), choose Steps, and switch the chart to the weekly range. On Apple Watch, open Activity and tap Weekly Summary—but that screen summarizes Activity-ring progress, not necessarily a dedicated total of steps taken during the week.
Find the weekly Activity summary on Apple Watch
- Open the Activity app on your Apple Watch.
- Tap the Weekly Summary button. Depending on your language and watchOS interface, it may appear as an icon rather than a text label.
- Review the daily average and weekly total for your progress toward closing the Activity rings.
Apple’s Apple Watch User Guide describes Weekly Summary as an Activity-ring report. It should not be confused with a dedicated “steps this week” dashboard.
To see your current step count instead, stay in the Activity app and scroll below the rings. The watch displays steps alongside distance and flights climbed. This is useful for checking today’s activity, but the iPhone Health app is the better destination for reviewing historical steps by week.

- Open the Health app.
- Tap Search, then select Activity.
- Tap Steps.
- Use the chart’s time-range controls and select the week view, if it is not already selected.
- Swipe or scroll through the chart to move across dates and inspect individual days.
The exact location of the Activity category or Steps card can vary with iOS version, language, region, and how you have customized the Health app. If you do not see Steps on the first screen, search for Steps directly.

What Activity, Fitness, and Health each do
| What you want to do | Best place |
|---|---|

Health is the underlying database where detailed step measurements and their sources can be examined.

Use Fitness for a quicker daily check
- Open Fitness on your iPhone.
- Tap Summary.
- Tap the step-count or walking-distance card if it is displayed.
- For another date, tap the Activity rings, tap the calendar button, and choose the date you want.
Fitness Summary can show step count and walking distance, but its cards are customizable and may not appear for every user. Apple’s iPhone User Guide explains that Summary measurements can be added, moved, rearranged, or removed. Fitness is convenient for a daily snapshot; Health is generally better for detailed weekly step history.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsPin or restore the Steps card
If Steps is missing from a Summary screen:
- In Fitness, open Summary and choose Edit Summary when that control is available. Add or rearrange the step-count measurement.
- In Health, add Steps to Favorites or pin it to Summary if your current interface provides that option.
- Search for Steps directly in Health if you cannot find the card.
These controls and labels can change between iOS releases, so searching for Steps is often the fastest route.

Why your weekly step numbers may differ
Step totals are recorded activity data, not an infallible measurement. Differences between Apple Watch, Fitness, and Health commonly have one of these causes:
- Different recording periods: the iPhone records steps when it is being carried, while Apple Watch contributes data when it is worn.
- A missed device: a day without the watch on your wrist or the iPhone with you may contain fewer recorded steps than you actually took.
- Synchronization delay: recently recorded watch data may need time to appear on the iPhone.
- Multiple sources: compatible apps and connected devices can also write step data to Health.
- Source handling: Health may use data from several sources according to its recorded timestamps and source settings.
To investigate a mismatch, open the detailed Steps view in Health and inspect the recorded entries and data sources. Apple documents source permissions and data management in its guide to sharing health data on iPhone. Do not assume the watch is always the only or automatically authoritative source.

Also confirm that the watch is paired with the intended iPhone, that step data exists in Health, and that the devices were carried or worn during the period you are checking. Apple cannot reconstruct steps that neither device recorded.

What if Apple does not show one weekly total?
Apple’s native interfaces do not necessarily present a prominent single number labeled “total steps this week” in every current version of iOS and watchOS. If the weekly Steps chart shows daily values rather than the exact total you want:

- Use the weekly chart in Health to identify each day’s recorded value.
- Open the detailed data view or Show All Data, where available, to inspect individual entries and their sources.
- Add the daily values manually if you need one combined number and the interface does not calculate it visibly.
A third-party step or activity app may be useful if you need custom weekly goals, dashboards, graphs, or exports. Check its Health permissions and data-source behavior before relying on its totals. For most people, Health’s weekly chart is the simplest built-in solution.
Exporting your history
Health can export health and fitness information in XML format, but that is excessive if you only want to check one week. It is more appropriate when you need a broader archive or want to analyze your records outside Apple’s apps.
