Most Willful smartwatches can show text notifications received by a connected phone, but they do not receive or send texts independently. The exact companion app depends on your watch model. For the Willful SW021/ID205L family, the documented app is VeryFitPro: bind the watch in the app, allow notification access, turn on message alerts, and keep Bluetooth connected.
First check the model number on the back of the watch, its box, or its manual. Do not assume every Willful watch uses VeryFitPro or has identical features.
What “getting texts” means on a Willful watch
On a basic Bluetooth Willful watch, your phone receives the SMS or messaging-app notification and forwards it to the watch. Depending on the model, app, and privacy settings, the watch may vibrate and show an alert or some of the message preview. That is notification mirroring—not standalone texting.

A cellular smartwatch is a different category: independent messaging may require a compatible watch, cellular service, and a carrier plan. Google’s Wear OS guidance on cellular connectivity explains those requirements.
Before you start
- Identify the model. Use the instructions for your exact watch. SW021/ID205L directions do not necessarily apply to every Willful model.
- Install the specified companion app. The SW021 documentation names VeryFitPro and says the watch may appear as ID205L. Its manual describes binding through that app. Other models may use another app.
- Use an official app-store listing. For Android, the Google Play VeryFitPro listing describes SMS and other reminders. On iPhone, do not assume the similarly named VeryFit app is interchangeable with VeryFitPro; follow your watch’s manual or QR code.
- Charge and switch on the watch, enable Bluetooth, and keep the phone nearby.
- Make sure the phone’s own Messages app is allowed to show notifications. The companion app cannot forward alerts the phone does not receive.
- Check for Do Not Disturb or Focus modes, notification summaries, and battery restrictions that may delay or block alerts.
The SW021 manual lists iOS 8.0, Android 4.4, and Bluetooth 4.0 as historical minimum requirements. Those old minimums do not guarantee compatibility with every phone or operating-system release in 2026.
Set up texts on a Willful SW021/ID205L
- Install VeryFitPro from the official store if your watch’s documentation identifies it as the correct app.
- Turn on Bluetooth. The SW021 setup instructions also ask users to enable phone location during binding. This can be an app or device-discovery permission requirement; GPS is not what delivers SMS alerts.
- Open VeryFitPro and bind the watch in the app. Use its add-device or device-binding option, choose the detected watch, and select ID205L if that is the identifier shown for your SW021. Accept the phone’s pairing prompt and grant requested permissions. Wait until the app reports that the watch is connected.
- Do not make phone Bluetooth settings your primary pairing method. The SW021 manual instructs users to bind inside the companion app rather than pair directly from the phone’s Bluetooth menu.
- Enable message notifications. Open the watch’s device settings in the app and look for Smart Reminder, Message Alert, Notification Reminder, App Notifications, or a similarly named setting. Turn on SMS or Messages. If the app lists individual apps, enable the ones you want forwarded.
- Allow notification access on the phone. Give the companion app the notification and Bluetooth permissions it requests, and make sure Messages itself can show notifications. The exact permission names and menus vary.
- Synchronize or refresh the watch. Return to the device page and sync the changed settings. SW021 instructions say to synchronize after enabling smart reminders.
- Test with a new message. Have someone send an SMS from another phone. Look for a vibration or notification on the watch. Whether the full text appears depends on the model and phone privacy settings.
Android: permissions and background operation
Android menu names vary by manufacturer and release. Start with Settings → Apps → VeryFitPro (or your model’s companion app), then check its notifications and permissions. Also look for a system setting called Notification access or a similar special-access option and allow the companion app to read notifications if required.

Check that Bluetooth and nearby-device permissions are allowed, that your Messages app can display notifications, and that the companion app is not restricted from running in the background. Some phones offer battery settings such as unrestricted use, background activity, or battery optimization; allow background operation if alerts stop when the app is not open. These controls differ by device, so use the labels on your phone rather than relying on a single universal menu path.
iPhone: Messages alerts and previews
For an SW021, use the app specified in its documentation and accept the Bluetooth pairing prompt. The manual notes that iPhone users must confirm pairing for message reminders. Then check:
- Settings → Notifications → Messages → Allow Notifications is on.
- Notification previews are enabled if you want message text shown, rather than only an alert.
- The companion app has the Bluetooth and notification permissions it requests.
- Focus settings or scheduled notification summaries are not silencing or delaying the alert.
iPhone settings and app behavior can affect what a third-party watch receives. An alert may appear without its message body if previews are hidden. A Willful Bluetooth tracker should not be treated as a device for replying to iMessages.

If the watch does not receive texts
Work through these checks in order; start by confirming that the phone itself receives a notification for a new message.
- Verify the model and app. Check the watch, packaging, or manual. For an SW021/ID205L, confirm you are using the documented VeryFitPro setup; do not assume that app suits another Willful model.
- Check the connection. Open the companion app and confirm it says the watch is connected. Keep the devices close and Bluetooth on.
- Check the message-specific switch. Turn on SMS, Messages, or the relevant app under the watch’s smart-reminder settings, then synchronize.
- Check phone notifications and access. Confirm Messages notifications are enabled and the companion app has notification access. If the phone receives no alert, fix that first.
- Check Focus and battery restrictions. Temporarily disable Do Not Disturb or Focus for a test, and allow the companion app to run in the background.
- Reconnect. Toggle Bluetooth off and on, reopen the companion app, and restart the phone and watch if needed. Send another new test text.
- Rebind if necessary. If the watch was paired directly in phone settings or the app cannot reconnect, remove the pairing and bind again from inside the companion app.
- Update and retry. Update the companion app from the official store, recheck permissions, and remove and re-add the watch if the notification switch will not activate. If the issue remains, use the app developer support details on its official store listing.
The SW021 troubleshooting guidance also recommends checking smart reminders, Bluetooth, app status, and phone compatibility. Its documentation gives roughly 7 metres as a distance warning and notes that obstacles or interference can weaken the connection. Treat that as an approximate guideline, not a guaranteed range.
If calls arrive but texts do not
A working call alert does not prove SMS alerts are enabled. Check the SMS or Messages switch separately in the companion app, confirm that the phone’s Messages notifications are allowed, and verify that notification previews are permitted if you expect to see text. Make sure the watch is not configured for calls only. Test with a standard incoming text notification; support for individual messaging services can vary by model and app.

The watch may be receiving the notification event while the message content is hidden. Check lock-screen preview settings on the phone, privacy or content controls in the companion app, and whether the sender or messaging app hides previews. Some Willful models may show only an alert or limited text, so a vibration does not guarantee that the full conversation can be read on the watch.
When a Willful watch is—and is not—a good fit
A basic Willful watch can suit someone who wants simple incoming alerts, vibration reminders, and fitness tracking without a cellular plan. It is a poor fit if you need to reply from your wrist, text without your phone nearby, or depend on broad, reliably supported messaging features.

Can I get iMessages on a Willful watch?
A compatible model may mirror an iPhone notification, but what appears depends on the watch, companion app, and iPhone notification and preview settings. Do not expect to reply from a basic Willful tracker.
