For most Galaxy Watches, removing your Samsung account from the watch means resetting the watch—not deleting your Samsung account. If you’re selling or giving away the watch, back it up, reset it, then unpair it from your phone. If you only want to sign out of your phone, remove the account there instead. If the watch is lost, use SmartThings Find or Samsung Find to erase it remotely, if the model supports that feature.
These actions are different: a reset erases watch data, unpairing removes the Bluetooth connection, removing an account from a phone signs it out of that phone, and deleting a Samsung account closes the account itself.
Choose the right kind of removal

| Sell, trade in, or give away the watch | Back up, factory-reset the watch, then unpair it from Bluetooth. |
| Switch to a new phone | Back up first. Reset the watch if pairing requires it, then set it up with the new phone. You can keep using the same Samsung account. |

| Disconnect a linked service | Unlink that service in Samsung account settings; this is not a watch reset. |

Samsung’s watch-specific cleanup guidance centers on resetting the device. There is not a universal sign-out path that applies to every Galaxy Watch generation and software version. If you want to keep using the watch but stop using one account, first check the account controls available in Galaxy Wearable and your phone’s Samsung account settings. If the watch is being transferred, reset it instead. Samsung’s reset instructions vary by model and software.

A reset erases data on the watch; unpairing alone does not. Do both before handing the device over.

- Back up the watch. Open Galaxy Wearable on the connected phone and use its backup option. Available data and menu labels vary by watch and operating system, and not all data is necessarily transferable between models or operating systems. See Samsung’s watch-backup guidance.
- Reset from Galaxy Wearable, if available. Open Galaxy Wearable → Watch settings → General → Reset → Reset, then confirm. Samsung documents this route for supported Galaxy and Gear watches. The reset removes watch data and restores factory settings.
- If you can’t reset in the app, try the watch itself. On the watch, open Settings → General → Reset and confirm using the on-screen prompt. Menu names and placement can differ by model.
- Unpair the watch from the phone. On many Samsung phones, go to Settings → Connections → Bluetooth, tap the settings icon beside the watch, then choose Unpair and confirm. On other Android phones, Bluetooth menu labels may differ. If the watch remains listed in Galaxy Wearable, remove it there too.
- Check the handoff state. Let the watch restart. Stop at the Welcome or initial setup screen; don’t sign back in or begin setup for the next owner. Remove any payment cards or wallet details as a prudent handoff check, and confirm the watch is no longer paired to your phone.
Resetting erases the watch; unpairing clears its phone connection. One does not substitute for the other. Samsung’s reset and unpair guidance provides additional details.
Check LTE service separately
A factory reset does not necessarily cancel a carrier’s cellular plan. If the watch has LTE, check with your carrier about cancelling or transferring its line. A watch activated with a carrier QR code may need a new QR code to activate service again after a reset. Carrier processes and charges vary, so confirm them with the carrier rather than assuming the reset changed the plan.
Remove the Samsung account from the connected phone
This signs the account out of the phone; it does not directly remove the account from the watch and does not permanently delete your Samsung account. On supported Samsung phones, the path is:

- Open Settings.
- Tap Accounts and backup → Manage accounts.
- Select your Samsung account.
- Tap Remove account, then tap it again to confirm.
- If prompted, tap Sign out, enter the account password, and tap OK.
Labels can vary by phone and software version, and Samsung may request the password. Removing the account can stop synchronization and remove synced Samsung data from that phone; data that was never synced may remain locally. You may need to add the account again to use Samsung services. Samsung explains account removal from a device.
Unlink a connected service instead
If you mean a third-party service linked to your Samsung account, you do not need to reset the watch or close the account. On a phone or tablet, open Settings, tap your Samsung account name, then Linked accounts. Tap the three-dot menu beside the service, choose Unlink, review the warning, and confirm. The exact screens can vary. This disconnects the selected service; it does not erase watch data. See Samsung’s linked-account instructions.
Erase a lost or inaccessible watch remotely
If you no longer have the watch, keep access to your Samsung account while you try to locate or erase it. For a compatible watch:

- Open SmartThings Find in a browser and sign in with the Samsung account associated with the watch.
- Select the watch and choose Erase data.
- Choose Erase to confirm. Enter your Samsung account password if requested.
The watch generally needs to be powered on and connected through Galaxy Wearable or a network connection. If it is offline, the erase command may not finish until it reconnects. Galaxy Fit models cannot be remotely reset through this procedure, and compatibility differs by device. A remote erase permanently removes watch data; it is not a reversible sign-out. If the watch is missing, you can also use Samsung’s lost-device guidance to review options such as locating or locking it. Do not remove the Samsung account from your phone first if you still need that account to access the remote-management tools.
Older Gear, Galaxy Fit, and model-specific menus
Menu paths are not identical across generations. Samsung’s documented examples include Gear info → Reset Gear for some older Gear Fit models and About band → Reset band in Galaxy Wearable for some Galaxy Fit models. Galaxy Fit also has different remote-reset support from Galaxy Watch models. Use the instructions for your specific device if the menu names above do not match; Samsung lists variations in its watch and band troubleshooting guidance.

Troubleshooting reset and account problems
The reset option is missing
The watch may not be connected to Galaxy Wearable, the app or watch software may be outdated, or your model may use another menu path. Try Settings → General → Reset directly on the watch. If it is a compatible device you cannot access, consider remote erase. For advanced recovery-mode resets, use model-specific Samsung instructions: button combinations and recovery screens differ, and choosing the wrong option can cause problems.
The watch is frozen or Galaxy Wearable cannot connect
If possible, try the reset from the watch itself. For a frozen device, use Samsung’s instructions for the exact model rather than guessing a button sequence. Remote erase may be an option if the watch is still associated with your account and can be reached through a supported service.

You forgot the watch PIN or pattern
If you cannot remove the lock normally, a factory reset may be required and will erase data. Depending on the model and reset route, setup afterward may ask you to verify the Google account previously used on the watch. Samsung describes the lock-reset process in its forgotten PIN guidance.

Setup asks for an account after the reset
Some watches may request the Samsung account used before the reset. Newer Wear OS models may also require verification of the previously connected Google account, particularly after certain security-lock or factory-reset procedures. Requirements depend on the model, software, security state, and reset method; it is not true that every Galaxy Watch always asks for both accounts. Before resetting, make sure you can access the credentials that may be requested. If you have forgotten the Samsung password, recover it through Samsung’s account process; avoid third-party unlocking tools or bypass methods.
The watch still appears in Bluetooth, Galaxy Wearable, or Find
These are separate records. A reset erases the watch but may not remove its saved Bluetooth pairing; unpair it manually through the phone’s Bluetooth settings. Galaxy Wearable’s device list and a Samsung-account product or Find list are separate again, and a device may remain visible in a service after local unpairing. Check each relevant list and remove the watch where that service offers the option. Seeing a listing by itself does not prove that the watch remains paired or that its data was not erased.
You forgot your Samsung account password
Recover access before attempting a remote erase or any reset flow that asks you to verify the account. The credentials can be needed to manage the device or complete setup. Do not use unofficial bypass services.

Deleting your Samsung account is usually unnecessary when your goal is simply to remove it from a watch or phone. It is an account-wide closure, not a watch-cleanup step. Samsung warns that deletion can remove purchase history, subscriptions, uploaded content, and profile information, and some information cannot be recovered. If you genuinely intend to close the account, Samsung’s process is online: sign in, open My Account → Profile → Manage Samsung account → Delete account, then review the warnings and complete the prompts.
