You usually don’t need to delete your Samsung account to remove its connection to a Galaxy Watch. Back up the watch, reset it, then unpair it from your phone and check for any remaining device registration. If the watch is lost, use SmartThings Find to try to erase it remotely. The exact menus vary by model and software version.
First, decide what you want to remove
“Remove a Samsung account” can mean several different things. Choose the action that matches your goal; deleting the entire account is not part of ordinary watch offboarding.
| Action | What it does | Use it when |
|---|---|---|
| Reset the watch | Erases data stored on the watch and restores its default settings. | You are selling, gifting, returning, or starting over. |
| Unpair Bluetooth | Removes the phone’s saved Bluetooth connection to the watch. | You have reset the watch or are transferring it to someone else. |
| Remove an account from a device | Signs the account out on that device; it does not delete the account everywhere. | You are changing accounts on a phone or tablet. |
| Unregister the watch | Removes a device association where Samsung provides that option. | The watch still appears in your Samsung account or device list after reset. |
| Delete the Samsung account | Permanently deletes the account and associated data and services. | Only if you intend to abandon the account itself. |
Samsung registers Galaxy watches to a Samsung account during setup with a phone. Removing an account from a device, unregistering a product, and deleting the account are separate actions. See Samsung’s device and account guidance and its explanation of removing versus deleting an account.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteBefore resetting the watch
- Back up anything you want to keep. A reset erases data stored on the watch. Use Galaxy Wearable’s backup options where available; a reset is not a substitute for preserving data you need.
- Make sure you can access the Samsung account. You may need its password and two-step verification, especially if you later set up the watch again or encounter an ownership check.
- Check whether the watch has LTE. Resetting is not the same as canceling or transferring a cellular plan. Ask your carrier about the plan and reactivation before handing off the watch.
- For a transfer, consider sensitive items. Check payment credentials, health information, photos, and apps before you proceed.
Samsung recommends backing up before a reset and warns that the reset deletes watch data. Its reset options and labels can vary by model, carrier, phone, and software version. Samsung’s reset instructions cover the supported methods.

Reset from Galaxy Wearable
If the watch is connected and working, resetting from the phone is a practical first choice:
- Open Galaxy Wearable on the connected phone.
- Tap Watch settings.
- Tap General, then Reset.
- Tap Reset again to confirm.
Some versions may omit a menu step or use different wording. Follow the matching reset option shown for your watch. Samsung Canada notes that resetting from the watch itself may leave some watch data on the phone, so check the phone afterward as well: Samsung’s reset and restart guidance.
Reset directly on the watch
If you can use the watch but not the app, open Settings → General → Reset and confirm using the on-screen control. The watch will return to its default settings and erase data stored locally on it. This does not necessarily remove the phone’s Bluetooth pairing, cached Galaxy Wearable information, cloud data, Samsung account records, or carrier service.

- Open the phone’s Settings.
- Tap Connections → Bluetooth.
- Find the watch in the paired-device list and tap its gear or settings icon.
- Tap Unpair and confirm if prompted.
Samsung specifically recommends unpairing Bluetooth after a reset when giving the watch to someone else. See Samsung’s troubleshooting steps. Then open Galaxy Wearable and check whether the watch still appears as an active device. If it does, remove the stale entry if the app offers that option, then restart the phone.
If the watch is locked, frozen, or inaccessible
Try recovery-mode reset
If normal menus are unavailable, Samsung documents a recovery reset. The button sequence and screens can differ by model; its US instructions specifically describe Wear OS recovery behavior for the Galaxy Watch4, Watch5, and Watch6 series. Follow the labels shown on your own watch rather than assuming every model behaves identically:
- Turn the watch off.
- Press and hold the Home/Power and Back keys until “Rebooting” appears.
- Quickly press the Home/Power key repeatedly to open the reboot menu. Continue until Recovery is selected, then press and hold Home/Power to enter it.
- On Wear OS models, select Wipe data/factory reset, then Factory data reset, confirm, and reboot. Wording may vary.
A recovery reset can erase the watch, but it is not an ownership bypass. Samsung says the watch may require the same Samsung account that was on it before the reset. If you forgot the PIN, use the official reset route rather than an unofficial unlocking service. Samsung’s reset guidance and forgotten-credential troubleshooting explain the supported options.
Erase a lost watch remotely
If the watch is missing or you cannot access it, try SmartThings Find:

- Open SmartThings Find in a browser and sign in with the Samsung account associated with the watch.
- Select the watch and choose Erase data.
- Confirm the erase and enter your Samsung account password if requested.
The watch must be associated with your account and reachable by Samsung’s service; if it is offline, switched off, or out of range, the command may not run immediately. Treat the data as still present until the erase is confirmed. Samsung’s instructions exclude Galaxy Fit from this remote-reset method: remote reset guidance.
If theft or account compromise is possible, secure your Samsung account and review signed-in devices without waiting for the watch to reconnect. Contact your carrier separately to suspend or change LTE service.
If you are selling, gifting, trading in, or returning it
- Back up the watch if you need its data.
- Reset through Galaxy Wearable when possible; otherwise use the watch’s settings or the supported recovery method.
- Unpair it from the old phone’s Bluetooth settings.
- Check Samsung account or product-registration pages and remove or unregister the watch if it remains listed and Samsung offers that control.
- Confirm the watch shows its initial Welcome or setup screen. Check that Galaxy Wearable no longer treats it as your active watch.
- Handle LTE separately: cancel, transfer, or reactivate service with the carrier as appropriate.
- Do not pair the watch again with your old account if the aim is to transfer it.
Before handing it over, make sure the new owner can begin setup without being asked to authenticate with your account. If the watch requests the previous owner’s credentials, use that account to complete the ownership check or ask the prior owner to finish the proper reset. A reset does not guarantee that every account, phone, or carrier record has been cleared. Samsung’s trade-in terms also call for returned wearables to be reset and free of personal-account locks: Samsung UK wearable trade-in terms.
Switching to another Samsung account
For most Galaxy Watch owners, the reliable way to change the watch’s account relationship is to back up, reset, then set it up again with the intended phone and account. Keep the old Samsung account intact unless you want to delete it across Samsung services. Apps or features that depend on the former account may require sign-in again.

If you really want to delete the Samsung account
Do not delete the whole account just to sell or reset a watch. Samsung says deletion can remove profile information, purchase history, subscriptions, uploaded content, and other associated data, which cannot be recovered afterward. Payment issues or family-management responsibilities may also need to be resolved first.
If you have decided to permanently delete it, Samsung’s documented route is: open the Samsung Login page, sign in, go to My Account → Profile → Manage Samsung account → Delete account, review the warnings, then confirm. Labels may vary by region or account interface. Read Samsung’s account-deletion information before proceeding.
Troubleshooting
The reset watch still appears in Bluetooth
The phone may retain a pairing record. Go to Settings → Connections → Bluetooth, open the watch’s settings, and tap Unpair. Then check Galaxy Wearable for a stale entry and restart the phone. A watch-side reset does not always remove phone-side connection data.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →The watch asks for the previous Samsung account
This is an ownership check, not necessarily a failed reset. Sign in with the previously associated account or recover access through Samsung. For a used watch, ask the previous owner to complete setup or account verification; if ownership cannot be established, contact Samsung support with proof of purchase. Do not use bypass tools.

You forgot the Samsung account password or ID
Use Samsung’s official account sign-in recovery options rather than third-party unlock sites. Samsung’s support page describes the Find ID route from the sign-in page: account ID recovery.
LTE will not reactivate after reset
A reset does not cancel or transfer a cellular plan. Samsung warns that an LTE watch activated with a QR code may need a new QR code to reactivate service. Contact the carrier about plan status and activation rather than assuming the old code will work.
SmartThings Find cannot erase the watch
Remote erasure depends on the watch being associated with the Samsung account and reachable. If it is offline, keep the account secure, contact the carrier about LTE, and remove the watch from device lists where possible. Do not assume its data has been erased until Samsung confirms the command.
The reset option is missing or the watch will not connect
Menu availability depends on model and software. Restart the watch and phone, check for Galaxy Wearable and watch software updates, then follow Samsung’s model-specific troubleshooting. If normal reset is impossible, use recovery mode only if your model supports the documented sequence, or contact Samsung service. Samsung’s connection troubleshooting can help diagnose a watch that will not connect. Galaxy Watch4 and Watch4 Classic are not compatible with iPhone; other model and phone combinations may have different support limits. Samsung’s compatibility and reset information explains that limitation.
