To remove a face from a Wear OS Galaxy Watch’s face carousel, touch and hold the current face, swipe to the one you want gone, then tap –. From your phone, open Galaxy Wearable → Watch faces → Manage and tap – beside the face. These steps remove a face from the selection list; they do not necessarily uninstall its app or recover storage.
The instructions below are for Galaxy Watches, not Galaxy Fit bands. Menu names can vary by watch, phone, region and software version. Older Tizen watches use different controls.
Remove a face directly on the watch
- Wake the watch and touch and hold the current watch face until the face-selection screen opens.
- Swipe left or right through the faces installed on the watch.
- Stop on the face you want to remove and tap the minus (–) icon.
- Reopen or review the face selector to confirm it is no longer in the active carousel.
If the unwanted face is currently active, apply a different face first if the watch does not offer the minus icon for it. Be sure you are in the face-selection screen, not only editing the current face’s design.

Remove faces using Galaxy Wearable
- Open Galaxy Wearable on the phone paired with the watch.
- Tap Watch faces.
- Tap Manage—Samsung depicts this control as sliders, usually near the upper-right corner.
- Tap the minus (–) icon beside the face you want to remove.
- Return to the face list and check that it is no longer among the installed faces.
The phone’s larger screen can make it easier to review several faces. Use Samsung’s official Galaxy Wearable app; similarly named third-party apps are not substitutes. Samsung’s documented paths are shown in its watch-face guide.

Remove, uninstall or hide? Choose by your goal

Samsung says its minus-icon action does not permanently delete the face: it can generally be downloaded or installed again. So do not assume that removing a face frees storage. No universal storage amount applies; it depends on the face and any associated app.
Uninstall a downloaded or third-party face
On Wear OS, a downloaded face may be packaged as a watch app, delivered with a phone companion app, or depend on both. Google treats faces obtained through an app store as downloaded apps for removal purposes. Check the watch’s app-management controls or the relevant store’s app-management screen, and consult the face developer’s instructions if the watch component is not obvious. Uninstalling a phone companion app alone may not remove a watch component, or vice versa.

For older Tizen watches, Samsung documents app removal separately: apps can be uninstalled from edit mode. See Samsung’s Tizen app-management documentation. Do not remove Samsung Health, Galaxy Wearable or system packages simply because they appear connected to the watch. Avoid ADB or unofficial package-removal tools for routine cleanup; they are unnecessary for most users and can disrupt app or complication behavior.

The current touch-and-hold and minus-icon workflow is for Galaxy Watches running Wear OS, including Galaxy Watch4 and later generations. It is not safe to assume every model or software release has identical labels. Samsung identifies the Galaxy Watch4, Watch5 and Watch6 as Wear OS models in its model-specific support guidance; later models use the same general management concept, though screens can change.

Galaxy Watch3, Galaxy Watch Active2 and earlier Galaxy Watch models belong to the older Tizen-era family. Their face and app controls can differ, so use support instructions for the exact model rather than treating the Wear OS minus-icon steps as universal. Galaxy Fit and Fit2 are not Galaxy Watches; Samsung says watch faces cannot be downloaded for those devices.
Why a removed face may still appear
- It remains in a library or store. Removing it from the installed carousel does not necessarily erase its listing or purchase record. It may still be available to download.
- It is a built-in face. Some system faces do not offer a normal uninstall option. You may be able to leave one installed and simply avoid using it.
- Its app is still installed. The face may be gone from the carousel while a standalone or companion app remains on the watch or phone.
- The listing is cached or not synchronized yet. Reopen Galaxy Wearable, check that the phone and watch are connected, and allow them to sync.
- You are seeing a recommendation, not an installed face. A downloadable suggestion or store listing is not proof that the face remains on the watch.
Troubleshoot a missing minus icon or a face that will not disappear
- Confirm the watch is paired and connected in Galaxy Wearable.
- Open Watch faces and enter its management view; on the watch, use the face-selection screen rather than the customization controls.
- If the unwanted face is active, switch to another face and try again.
- Update Galaxy Wearable and the watch software if updates are available; then close and reopen the app.
- Try the other supported route: remove it on the watch if phone management fails, or use Galaxy Wearable if the watch control is missing.
- Restart both devices and check again. If it still occupies storage, inspect app management for the face app or companion app.
- If it is preinstalled, the supported interface may not let you uninstall it. Leave it installed and choose another face instead.
Do not factory-reset a watch just to remove a face. Resetting erases broader device data and settings and is not a normal face-management step; reserve it for a wider problem after appropriate backup and support guidance.

Purchased faces and reinstalling later
Removing a face is not the same as canceling a purchase, and Samsung says a removed face can generally be downloaded or installed again. But reinstallation is not guaranteed forever: a listing may be withdrawn, incompatible with a newer watch, tied to a different account, region-limited, or unsupported by its developer.
There is also a specific Wear OS caveat. Google announced that from January 14, 2026, legacy AndroidX and Wearable Support Library watch faces could no longer be newly installed from Google Play on Wear OS devices; already-installed faces could continue working. This applies to the legacy faces covered by Google’s policy, not every removed face or every purchase. If a face matters to you, check its current store listing and the account’s purchase history before assuming it can be restored. See the Android Developers announcement.
