Mickey Mouse is a built-in Apple Watch face. Add it from the paired iPhone’s Watch app or directly on the watch—no separate app or subscription is needed. Then select it from your face collection, customize its color and complications, and enable Speak Time if you want Mickey to say the time.
Before you start
- You need an Apple Watch that supports the face. Apple’s current watchOS 26 face guide lists Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, but does not provide a complete compatibility list for every older watch and software version.
- For the iPhone method, use the Watch app on the iPhone paired with your watch. Keep the devices connected and the watch sufficiently charged while the face syncs.
- Apple updates watchOS and app labels over time. Depending on the version and screen, the final button may say Add or Add to Watch.
Add Mickey from your iPhone
Apple describes Face Gallery as the place to browse, customize, and add faces. This route is convenient if you want to configure Mickey before putting it on your watch.
- Open the Watch app on your paired iPhone.
- Tap Face Gallery.
- Browse the face categories or open the complete watch-face listing, if shown.
- Select Mickey Mouse. Choose the character and color options offered, then configure any complication positions you want.
- Tap Add to Watch or Add. The face is added to your collection; if another face remains on screen, select Mickey as described below.

Add Mickey directly on Apple Watch
Use this method if the paired iPhone is not handy or you want to add the face from the watch itself.

- Show the current watch face, then touch and hold the display.
- Swipe left through your saved faces to the end of the collection and tap Add.
- Browse the available faces or categories until you find Mickey Mouse. Depending on the watchOS version, you may browse by turning the Digital Crown.
- Tap Add, then customize the face if you wish.
Apple’s face-changing instructions cover adding a face on the watch; the screens may look slightly different across software versions.
Make Mickey the face currently displayed
Adding a face puts it in your collection, but you may still be looking at another one. Touch and hold the displayed face, swipe left or right until Mickey appears, then tap Mickey.

You can also enable direct swiping between faces: on Apple Watch, open Settings, tap Clock, and turn on Swipe to Switch Watch Face. With this option off, swiping across the displayed face will not switch faces; touching and holding it lets you choose from the collection. Apple documents both methods in its face instructions.

Customize Mickey’s character, color, and complications
Mickey’s arms indicate the hour and minute, and his feet tap out the seconds. Mickey and Minnie are separate character choices, not simply different colors of the same character. The face offers character and color customization, plus supported complications. The available colors, complication positions, and choices depend on the face and installed apps; Apple’s face reference lists examples such as Battery, Calendar, Heart Rate, Weather, and World Clock.

- Touch and hold the Mickey face, then tap Edit.
- Swipe through the editing screens. Turn the Digital Crown to change the options shown, such as character or color.
- If a complications screen is available, swipe to it and tap a position you want to change.
- Turn the Digital Crown to browse the available complications and select one. Repeat for other positions you want to configure.
- Press the Digital Crown to save, then tap the face to return to it.
Apple explains this editing process in its guide to customizing complications. Only the positions provided by the face can be configured.
Make Mickey speak the time
First enable spoken time. On the watch, open Settings, tap Clock, then turn on Speak Time. Or on the paired iPhone, open the Watch app, tap My Watch, tap Clock, and enable Speak Time. Choose Always Speak if you want spoken time even when Silent Mode is on.

With Speak Time enabled, tap Mickey or Minnie with one finger to hear the time. You can also hold two fingers on any watch face to hear it. On Apple Watch Series 5 and later, including Ultra models, Apple says users with Always On can double-tap while the display is dimmed. Apple Watch SE does not have Always On. - Confirm Speak Time is enabled and tap the character, rather than another part of the display.
- Check the watch’s volume. If Silent Mode is on, enable Always Speak in the Clock settings or turn Silent Mode off.
- If the voice is unavailable, connect the watch to trusted Wi-Fi and place it on its charger. Apple advises allowing about 15 minutes for the character voice to download.
- Try tapping Mickey again. If it still does not speak, remove and re-add the face: touch and hold the face, swipe up on Mickey, tap Remove, then add Mickey again from the watch’s Add button or the iPhone’s Face Gallery.

Troubleshoot a missing or inactive Mickey face
- Mickey is not in the list: In the iPhone Watch app, open Face Gallery and browse the full face list rather than only one category. If it is not there, try adding a face directly on the watch using the collection’s Add button.
- The face was added, but is not displayed: Touch and hold the current face, find Mickey in the collection, and tap it.
- The face list or sync appears stuck: Check that the watch and paired iPhone are connected and communicating. Restart the Watch app and watch, then check for software updates if the list still appears incomplete.
- The face disappeared: Add it again using either of the methods above. Apple’s native Face Gallery and on-watch face collection are the supported routes for its official face; a third-party face app is not required.
Remove Mickey or add it back later
On Apple Watch
- Touch and hold a face, then swipe to Mickey.
- Swipe up on the Mickey face and tap Remove.
On iPhone
- Open the Watch app and tap My Watch.
- Find My Faces, tap Edit, then delete Mickey and tap Remove.
A removed face can be added again from Face Gallery or the watch’s Add control. Apple’s face-management guide describes these options.
