Yes—but the right method depends on your watch. A compatible Wear OS watch can act as a direct Bluetooth mouse with WearMouse, without a PC server. Apple Watch users generally need a remote-control app, an iPhone and desktop helper. Either route is best for basic pointer control, media or presentations—not precision work.
First, identify your watch and connection route
“Use a smartwatch as a mouse” can describe two different setups. With Bluetooth HID, the watch presents itself to the computer as a mouse or keyboard, much like a physical Bluetooth peripheral. With a remote-control app, the watch or phone sends commands to software running on the computer. The latter depends on that helper and usually a network connection.

For direct Bluetooth control, the PC needs a working Bluetooth adapter and driver that support standard mouse or keyboard devices. A desktop without Bluetooth needs an adapter. For helper-based control, the PC must run the relevant software; firewalls, guest Wi-Fi or network isolation can prevent discovery. Bluetooth pairing with a phone also does not guarantee the watch can keep an active input connection to a PC at the same time.
Use a Wear OS watch as a direct Bluetooth mouse
WearMouse documents support for Wear OS watches running Android P or newer, with compatible Bluetooth targets including Windows, macOS, Linux, ChromeOS and Android TV. It makes the watch a Bluetooth input device, so this method does not require a desktop server. A supported operating-system version is not a guarantee that every watch model or Bluetooth stack will work.

Pair and connect
- Install WearMouse from Google Play on the watch.
- Turn on Bluetooth on the computer and launch WearMouse on the watch.
- Open the watch app’s Available devices or paired-device screen. Select the computer, or make the watch discoverable and start pairing from the computer’s Bluetooth settings.
- Accept the pairing request on both devices. Select the paired computer in WearMouse and connect.
- Choose an input mode, then test pointer movement, clicking and scrolling before relying on it.
The precise pairing prompt can vary with the computer’s operating system. If you are preparing for a presentation, test the full setup beforehand, including any needed slide controls.
Choose the control that suits the task
- Air mouse: Move your wrist to move the pointer. The app provides on-screen left- and right-click buttons. Wrist movement can feel sensitive; WearMouse recommends disabling wrist gestures to reduce accidental navigation.
- Touchpad: Swipe on the watch screen. WearMouse documents tap-to-click, double-tap, click-and-drag, two-finger right-click and two-finger scrolling.
- Cursor keys: Use directional and navigation keys rather than moving the pointer freely.
- Keyboard: Enter text using the watch’s on-screen or voice keyboard. The current app listing says keyboard input is limited to US English; that is an app limitation, not a Windows language restriction.
A rotating crown may be usable for scrolling on watches equipped with one. WearMouse says pointer sensitivity is adjusted on the connected computer, rather than in the app. If air-mouse motion is hard to control, try touchpad mode, rest your arm on a surface, reduce pointer speed in the operating system or enable pointer stabilization if available. The app listing describes its modes, gestures and settings.
Use an Apple Watch with a companion remote app
Apple Watch can control a computer through apps such as Mobile Mouse or Remote Mouse. Treat these as remote-control systems, not proof that watchOS universally makes the watch appear to Windows as a standard Bluetooth HID mouse. Follow the current app listing and helper instructions for the devices you use.

Mobile Mouse
Mobile Mouse’s US App Store listing supports Apple Watch and lists Windows 10 or later and macOS 10.14 or later, along with a required Mobile Mouse Server application. The listed features include trackpad control, scrolling, presentation and media controls, keyboard input and shortcuts. The listing also describes Bluetooth and USB support for Mac as an in-app purchase; availability and terms may change.
- Install Mobile Mouse on the iPhone and its Apple Watch component.
- Download and install Mobile Mouse Server on the Windows PC or Mac.
- Connect the iPhone and computer to the same Wi-Fi network, then open the server. If prompted, allow it through the computer’s firewall.
- Open Mobile Mouse on the iPhone and confirm that it detects the computer.
- Launch the Apple Watch interface and use its trackpad, presentation or media controls.
Remote Mouse
Remote Mouse’s official download page describes a mobile app plus desktop helper. It lists support for Windows 7, 8, 10 and 11; macOS 11 or later; and most x86_64 Linux distributions, with Wayland support varying by desktop environment. Its usual setup uses the same Wi-Fi network, though Bluetooth is also supported. If automatic discovery fails, the page describes manual IP entry. The Apple App Store listing includes Apple Watch support and features such as simulated mouse input, gyro mouse, touchpad gestures, keyboard, media and power controls.
Install the mobile app and desktop helper, connect the phone and computer, then use the watch interface supported by the app. This is a useful alternative if you want media or presentation functions, or direct HID pairing is not available, but it is not a watch-only setup: it relies on the app system and running computer helper.

Troubleshoot pairing, pointer movement and delays
If the computer cannot find the watch
- Check that Bluetooth is on at both ends and that WearMouse is open on the watch before pairing.
- Bring the watch close to the computer and confirm its Bluetooth adapter and driver work with ordinary mouse or keyboard devices.
- Remove an old or failed pairing from the computer, restart Bluetooth on both devices, then try again. Reboot both devices if the watch remains undiscoverable.
If it pairs but the cursor does not move
- Forget the old pairing on the computer and pair again from a clean state; then relaunch WearMouse and select the computer in the app.
- Check whether another app is attempting to register the watch as a Bluetooth HID device.
- If the watch is prioritizing a phone connection, disconnect or pause that connection and test the PC connection again. Pairing with a phone does not ensure simultaneous active control of the PC.
- Check for an app update. The Google Play listing records an update dated May 19, 2025, including a workaround for an “Available Devices” issue on Pixel Watch; that does not establish that every current model is unaffected.
If movement is erratic or delayed
For an occasional Bluetooth power-management problem, WearMouse recommends toggling Airplane mode on the watch off and on, then reconnecting. Adjust pointer speed on the computer; for a TV-connected system, the app also suggests Game picture mode to reduce display processing delay. If wrist movement remains too sensitive, use touchpad mode, rest your arm, reduce pointer speed or disable wrist gestures.

Confirm that the desktop helper is running and that the phone and computer can communicate on the local network. A firewall may block the helper; a guest network, router client isolation, segregated Ethernet network or VPN routing may prevent device discovery. Try the app’s manual IP option where supported. A sleeping PC or stopped helper cannot respond to a remote command.
For a helper-based app, do not assume control will work at the Windows sign-in screen: it may depend on the helper starting before sign-in and on the specific Windows configuration. Direct Bluetooth HID may work there, but this is also configuration-dependent; test it on the actual PC rather than relying on a general promise.

What a smartwatch mouse is—and is not—good for
A watch is most useful when convenience matters more than fine control: advancing slides, pausing media, selecting a video from the sofa, basic pointer movement, accessibility or reduced-reach situations, and emergency input when a mouse is unavailable. A TV-connected PC may also be easier to control from a watch than from across the room with a desk mouse.
The small display, wrist movement and limited text entry make a watch a poor replacement for precision selection, small drag targets, photo editing, CAD, gaming that needs fast accurate aim, or long typing and office sessions. Air-mouse input can also be affected by watch orientation and accidental wrist gestures. Active Bluetooth and motion sensing can use more battery than ordinary watch use, but there is no reliable battery-life figure without testing a specific watch, app version and usage pattern.

- For extended control or typing: Use a phone as the touchpad and keyboard. Remote Mouse explicitly supports a mobile app with a desktop helper, and a phone’s larger screen is generally more practical than a watch interface.
- For precision, gaming or long sessions: Use a physical Bluetooth mouse or trackpad.
- For slides only: A dedicated presentation remote may be simpler than configuring full mouse control.
- For an existing remote desktop session: Touch gestures or a virtual keyboard may be enough. Microsoft documents touch gestures and virtual-keyboard input in Windows App for Android, but that is not the same as turning a smartwatch into a Bluetooth mouse: Windows App touch, keyboard, mouse and pen input.
Protect the computer and connection
Remote-control apps can send keystrokes and clicks; some also offer power controls. Install the watch app and desktop helper only from the official store or vendor site, keep the helper updated, and check the permissions it requests. Use a connection password or protection feature where the app offers one, avoid exposing the helper on an untrusted network, and remove pairings from shared or public computers when finished. Mobile Mouse and Remote Mouse advertise password or connection-protection features in their listings.
Third-party watch apps can change or lose compatibility after app, watch or operating-system updates. Check the current listing and test the setup on your own watch and computer before depending on it.
