The February 2025 rumor got the products broadly right: Huawei later confirmed the Band 10 fitness tracker and FreeArc hook-style open-ear earbuds. But March was a regional rollout window, not a single worldwide retail date. The rumor’s early reference to IP68 also differs from Huawei’s final Band 10 specification of 5 ATM water resistance.
What the February 2025 rumor claimed
A February 1 report, citing Weibo tipsters and certification listings, said Huawei might launch the Band 10 and an ear-hook-style product known as “Arc” in March. It suggested the earbuds might be called FreeArc and that the products could appear alongside the Pocket 3. April was also mentioned as a possible timing. The early report also referred to two Band 10 variants and IP68 protection. Certification references can be useful clues, but they are not a substitute for the specification of the product sold to consumers.

What Huawei ultimately confirmed
Huawei’s February 2025 global product announcement confirmed both the HUAWEI Band 10 and HUAWEI FreeArc. FreeArc was presented as Huawei’s hook-style open-ear earbuds, so “Arc” and “FreeArc” in the original leak were references to the same product as it became publicly identified—not two separate earbuds. The evidence supports the products’ eventual announcement, but not every detail in the leak. In particular, the possible Pocket 3 pairing remained a rumor in the February 1 report; the announcement record cited here confirms Band 10 and FreeArc, not that exact launch arrangement.
Band 10: final specifications and water rating
Huawei’s global Band 10 specifications describe a compact fitness band rather than a full smartwatch. The most important confirmed details are:

These specifications come from Huawei’s Band 10 product page. The discrepancy matters: the early rumor report cited IP68, while Huawei’s retail specification lists 5 ATM. For a buyer assessing the released band, Huawei’s product specification is the relevant rating rather than an unconfirmed leak.

What 5 ATM means in practice
Huawei says 5 ATM supports shallow-water activities; it does not mean the band can be used at a depth of 50 meters. Huawei advises against diving, hot showers, saunas, hot springs and fast-moving water. Water resistance is not a blanket guarantee for every water exposure, so follow the manufacturer’s restrictions. Battery and case choices
“Up to 14 days” is the maximum battery claim, not the everyday figure for every user. Huawei lists up to eight days for typical use and up to three days with the always-on display enabled. The aluminum-alloy models are slightly heavier than polymer models, and colors and case combinations depend on the market. Those differences can affect which model is available locally.
How Band 10 differs from Band 9
The February leak used Band 9 as context, but its specifications should not be carried forward as proof of Band 10 features. Confirmed changes and positioning include aluminum-alloy case options, a broader range of colors, and more specialized sleep-monitoring features. Regional launch material also promoted emotional or mood-related monitoring in some markets. Band 10 remains a fitness-band form factor. Its published specifications do not indicate cellular connectivity or a general-purpose smartwatch app ecosystem, and its narrow display is suited to fitness data and notifications rather than a large smartwatch interface. Health and sleep tracking should be treated as wellness features, not medical diagnosis.

FreeArc places a hook around the ear and leaves the ear canal more open than a sealed in-ear earbud. That can help users remain aware of nearby sounds while walking, commuting, working in an office or exercising outdoors. It is structurally different from Huawei FreeClip’s C-shaped bridge or clip-like design.

- Less isolation: Ambient sounds remain more audible, which can be useful for awareness but makes open-ear earbuds a poor choice when you need to block traffic, aircraft noise or a loud office.
- Fit is personal: The hook may feel secure during movement, but comfort depends on ear shape and how it sits with glasses, helmets or masks.
- Sound differs from sealed earbuds: Open construction generally delivers less isolation and bass impact than a sealed in-ear fit, and sound may be audible to people nearby at higher volumes.
- Check model-specific details: Do not assume a water rating, noise-cancellation performance or companion-app feature from the product category alone; verify the exact regional FreeArc specification.
For stronger isolation or bass, sealed earbuds are the more suitable form factor. FreeArc’s design is aimed at listeners who value an open fit and awareness over blocking the environment.

The March prediction was directionally right for some markets, but sales dates differed by country. The following timeline separates the original leak, product announcement and regional retail dates:

So “March launch” describes the broad timing and some regional sales starts, not a universal date when every country received the products. An announcement, a first-sale promotion and a general retail release are also different milestones.

The available launch information does not establish a US release date, US price or broad US retail availability for either product. Regional dates and prices are not evidence of US availability. Huawei’s global Band 10 specifications page confirms product details but does not establish US inventory. Availability, pricing, warranty terms and feature support can vary by region; check Huawei or an authorized seller in your country before buying.
How to decide whether either product suits you
Consider Band 10 if
- You want a lightweight band for activity tracking, sleep monitoring and phone notifications rather than cellular service or a broad smartwatch app ecosystem.
- Your phone meets the stated Android or iOS version requirement, and you have checked which features are supported in your region and with your operating system.
- You are comfortable with Huawei’s battery scenarios and the stated 5 ATM restrictions.
- You prefer a polymer case for lower weight or an aluminum-alloy finish and are willing to compare local model availability.
Consider FreeArc if
- You want to hear more of your surroundings during walks, outdoor exercise or work.
- You are comfortable giving up some isolation and bass compared with sealed earbuds.
- The hook style fits your ears and works with your glasses, helmet or other gear.
Neither product’s regional launch in Asia or Japan establishes current availability elsewhere. Confirm local stock, compatibility, support and warranty terms rather than relying on a launch announcement from another country.
