Huawei announced its ECG rollout for the Watch GT 3 Pro and Watch D in September 2022, expanding the feature to selected European markets after certification work. It was not a promise of availability in every European country: Huawei’s current country list still shows market-specific support, and the ECG reading is for reference—not a medical diagnosis.
What the European rollout did—and did not—mean
In September 2022, Huawei said CE marking for the Watch GT 3 Pro ECG app enabled expansion to 33 European countries. That figure describes the announcement at the time, not a definitive list of countries where the feature is enabled today. Huawei’s announcement concerned ECG functionality, not a promise that every European owner would see an app appear automatically.
CE marking indicates conformity with applicable European requirements; it does not, by itself, make every feature available in every national market or establish that a watch can diagnose heart disease. Huawei’s current ECG availability table distinguishes supported and unsupported countries and notes where medical certification is required. Huawei separately says the Watch D met Europe’s Medical Device Regulation requirements in September 2022 through TÜV Rheinland; that is a distinct certification context for the Watch D, not proof that its ECG gives a clinical diagnosis.
Which Huawei watches support ECG?

Huawei’s current ECG support documentation covers both models. Similar-looking watches—including the GT 3, GT 4 or Watch 3—should not be assumed to qualify. Confirm the exact model and regional variant rather than relying on the product family name. Huawei’s Watch D certification explanation also describes its home blood-pressure-monitoring role.

Where Huawei currently lists ECG support
Huawei’s current table lists these European markets as supported: Poland, Finland, Czechia, Romania, Hungary, Greece, Croatia, Lithuania, Austria, Germany, France, Spain, the United Kingdom, Estonia, Denmark, Latvia, Sweden, Cyprus, Slovakia, Slovenia, Norway, Italy, Portugal, Switzerland, Türkiye, Ireland, Belgium, the Netherlands and Iceland. The same table lists Bulgaria, North Macedonia and Ukraine as unsupported, among other countries. Most supported European markets are marked as requiring medical certification; check the country entry itself for its status.
This is Huawei’s present support reference, not a reconstruction of the 2022 launch list. Availability may change, so check the country table for your location before troubleshooting the watch. Being in Europe, or owning a model sold in Europe, is not enough to establish eligibility.

How to activate ECG and take a reading
Huawei’s setup route is through Huawei Health and the watch’s ECG function—not an unrestricted standalone app download. Follow Huawei’s ECG instructions:

- Update Huawei Health to the latest version available to you.
- Open Huawei Health and go to Heart > ECG.
- Follow the on-screen activation instructions.
- On the watch, open ECG from the app list. Choose the wrist or hand configuration if prompted.
- Rest your arm on a table or your lap. Touch the watch’s Down-button electrode with a finger from your other hand.
- Stay still, breathe normally and avoid talking. Keep light, steady contact and wait for the 30-second measurement to finish.
- View the result on the watch. For more detail, open Huawei Health > Heart > ECG; use the download icon to export an ECG report.
What the ECG result can tell you
The feature takes a one-off, single-lead ECG measurement. Huawei’s launch material describes real-time analysis and results that may indicate sinus rhythm or flag patterns associated with atrial fibrillation and premature beats. These are screening indications, not guarantees that the watch will detect or correctly classify every abnormal rhythm. A single-lead watch reading is not equivalent to a multi-lead clinical ECG, and a normal result cannot rule out a medical problem.

Huawei says ECG data is for reference and must not be used for diagnosis or treatment. Its instructions say the feature is not intended for people under 18 or people with pacemakers or other implanted devices. If a result concerns you, contact a qualified clinician; do not delay emergency care to take or repeat a watch measurement.
If ECG is missing or a reading fails
Check eligibility before changing settings
- Confirm the exact watch model and regional variant; support for the GT 3 Pro or Watch D does not imply support for every Huawei watch.
- Check Huawei’s country table for your location and its medical-certification status.
- Update Huawei Health, then look under Heart > ECG for activation rather than searching only for a downloadable app.
- Check the Huawei account country/region and the watch’s sales region. Huawei does not establish that changing an account region, SIM, VPN or phone locale unlocks ECG; do not rely on unofficial region workarounds.
- If the option remains absent, contact Huawei support. Before re-pairing or restarting, record relevant data and check Huawei’s normal backup process.
Improve contact and signal quality
Movement, talking, weak electrode contact or dry skin can interfere with a reading. Huawei advises staying still and not pressing the electrode too hard; dry skin can weaken conductivity, while strong electromagnetic fields can severely distort the signal. If a reading fails, correct the contact and surroundings and try again only when it is appropriate to do so—never as a substitute for medical care.
