Yes, the Huawei Watch D2 takes real cuff-based blood-pressure measurements. Unlike watches that estimate blood pressure from optical signals and require periodic calibration, the D2 inflates a narrow airbag built into its strap and uses oscillometric measurement.
Its standout feature is scheduled ambulatory blood-pressure monitoring (ABPM): the watch can take readings at preset intervals during the day and night, then calculate daytime, nighttime and 24-hour averages. That makes it unusually relevant to people who need blood-pressure trends rather than an occasional spot reading.
Independent 2025 studies found promising agreement with conventional ambulatory monitors under controlled conditions. However, the D2 is still a wrist device: positioning, fit, movement and wrist size matter. It should not automatically replace a properly used upper-arm monitor, clinician-directed ABPM or medical advice.

Most smartwatch blood-pressure features are estimates. They infer pressure from optical or pulse-related signals and generally need calibration against a conventional cuff. The Huawei Watch D2 takes a different approach.
#1 Best Overall
- The Blood pressure monitor watch is equipped with an inflatable micro air pump that detects fluctuations in blood pressure by oscillometric measurement, use a unique fine algorithm. Blood Pressure Mornitor Watch use oscillometric method with micro air bag, clinically validated accuracy and provide reliable blood pressure measurements comparable to traditional arm cuff mornitors. The medical blood pressure watch meets regulatory standards use in healthcare setting, FDA(510K), CE and NMPA Class II Medical device registration certificate in 2018.
- Timing Blood Pressure Monitoring (TBPM) Setting: Medical Blood Pressure Watch scheduled blood pressure readings provide a more accurate refection of you daily fluctuations, maximum 48 times measuments per day, tracks systolic and diastolic pressure automatically throughout the day and night, without manual intervention. Blood Pressure Watch meets Heart rate, Blood oxygen, Sleeping time and Activity measurment automatically.
- The wearable blood pressure monitor watch adopts bluetooth 5.3 technology, enabling faster connections and stable data transmission. Smart watch function supports answering and making calls, captures all health data and manage them by app, not only for home use, also hospital and integrated system
- The blood pressure monitor wrist can support family data sharing, you can add families and private physician to share your health data by mobile App setting.
- Portable blood pressure wrist watch in ultra-lightweight design with silicone belt and micro Air-cuff meachanism, wear it while sleeping, working,or exercising without discomfort.
Its strap contains a 26.5 mm inflatable mechanical airbag and a differential-pressure sensor. During a reading, the airbag inflates around the wrist and the watch uses the oscillometric method to calculate blood pressure. In practical terms, this is much closer to a wrist blood-pressure monitor than to a normal smartwatch displaying an optical estimate.
The D2 supports both individual measurements and scheduled ABPM. ABPM is intermittent, not continuous: the watch periodically inflates the airbag, rather than measuring every heartbeat between readings. Huawei describes intervals of 15 to 30 minutes for a 24-hour session.
That distinction matters. The D2 can show how pressure changes across a day and night, but it does not provide continuous, beat-by-beat blood-pressure monitoring.
Blood-pressure accuracy: what the evidence says
Manufacturer design
Huawei identifies the D2’s oscillometric method, pressure sensor and inflatable airbag as the basis of its blood-pressure function. Those specifications explain why the watch is technically more serious than an optical estimation feature, but they are not by themselves proof that every user will receive clinically interchangeable readings.
Independent validation
A 2025 study in Hypertension Research compared the Watch D2 with a conventional ambulatory reference monitor. Under that study’s conditions, the reported mean differences were approximately −1.6 ± 6.4 mmHg for systolic pressure and −1.9 ± 5.0 mmHg for diastolic pressure. Read the study.
A separate 2025 nocturnal-monitoring study reported that the D2 met the study’s ISO-based accuracy criteria and produced nighttime results comparable with conventional ABPM in that protocol. The study also reported fewer awakenings than conventional ABPM during its testing. See the Journal of Clinical Hypertension study or its open-access record.
These results are encouraging, particularly for overnight trend monitoring. They are not a universal promise of a particular error margin for every wearer. A validation study reports performance across a tested population and protocol; an individual reading can still be wrong because of movement, wrist height, an unsuitable fit, anatomy or a failed inflation.

Why wrist technique matters
Huawei specifies a supported wrist circumference of 130–210 mm (13–21 cm). Accuracy may be affected outside that range. The wrist is also more sensitive to height and movement than the upper arm, so a good result depends on following the measurement routine carefully.
Do not turn a manual listing such as “within ±3 mmHg” into a guarantee for every user. A component or product specification is not the same as independent clinical validation of the complete measurement system in all conditions.
How to take a reliable single reading
Use the watch’s Blood Pressure, ABPM or Health Glance function, depending on your region and software version. Huawei’s labels and available features can vary, so an exact menu path should not be assumed across all D2 models.
- Check that your wrist is within the 13–21 cm supported range and that the watch is not being worn over a wound, inflammation or medical treatment.
- Sit quietly for several minutes before measuring. For a resting comparison, avoid measuring immediately after exercise, caffeine, smoking, emotional stress or a hot shower.
- Wear the watch snugly, but not painfully tight.
- Rest your forearm and keep the wrist and palm relaxed and extended.
- Keep the watch approximately level with your heart.
- Do not talk, move, tremble or deliberately flex the wrist while the airbag inflates.
- If the measurement fails or looks implausible, rest and reposition yourself before trying again. Do not repeatedly trigger readings in rapid succession and treat the first failed result as meaningful.
Huawei warns that movement, trembling, wetness, incorrect positioning and poor fit can affect the result. Huawei’s Health Glance guidance also instructs users to remain still during measurements.
What ABPM does—and what it is like to use
Ambulatory blood-pressure monitoring is a scheduled series of measurements, not simply an occasional check whenever you remember. It can help show:
- Average daytime blood pressure.
- Average nighttime blood pressure.
- The full 24-hour average.
- Changes in blood pressure rhythm, including nighttime patterns.
- Whether occasional or office readings may be misleading.
The D2 can take readings at preset intervals over 24 hours. Every reading requires you to keep the wrist still, so Huawei recommends choosing a relatively quiet day. A busy day of walking, working with your hands or repeatedly moving during inflations can produce unsuccessful readings and weaken the usefulness of the report.
Huawei describes a successful 24-hour session as requiring at least 70% successful readings, including at least 20 daytime and seven nighttime readings. The watch’s report is therefore only as useful as the completeness and quality of the measurement session.

Nighttime monitoring is one of the D2’s strongest use cases. The inflatable wrist cuff may be more tolerable than repeatedly attaching a conventional cuff, although it is not silent or guaranteed to be disruption-free. The watch remains relatively thick, and some users will notice each inflation.
Accuracy versus usability
The D2 can perform well in validation testing and still produce poor results for an individual who wears it loosely, holds the wrist too low or moves during inflation. These are not contradictory conclusions.
Before relying on a pattern, compare the D2 with a trusted, properly fitted reference monitor under similar conditions. Ideally, take readings close together while seated and following the same rest and positioning routine. If the results repeatedly differ substantially, ask a clinician whether the watch or the reference device is suitable for your situation rather than adjusting medication based on the watch alone.
People with conditions affecting circulation or wrist anatomy should seek specific clinical guidance. The D2 is not suitable for every wearer simply because it is wearable.
Medical certification and regional availability
“Medical-grade” is too broad a description for this product. Huawei states that the D2’s blood-pressure and ABPM functions have CE medical-device certification under EU Regulation 2017/745 in applicable European markets. That refers to specified functions and regulatory markets; it does not mean the watch is certified identically everywhere.

Do not describe the Watch D2 as universally FDA-approved or FDA-cleared. The evidence supplied for this review does not establish that claim for the exact model and functions.

Before buying, confirm all of the following for your country:
- That the exact D2 model is officially sold or supported.
- That blood-pressure and ABPM functions are enabled.
- That ECG and other health functions are available if you need them.
- That the Huawei Health app supports the relevant reports.
- That warranty and medical-device support apply to your purchase.
An imported watch may pair with a phone without having the same medical functionality, regulatory status or after-sales support as a model sold through an official regional channel. Huawei explicitly notes that medical-device approvals limit availability to selected European markets.

Design and smartwatch features
The D2 looks more like a conventional smartwatch than a separate clinical monitor, but the blood-pressure hardware affects its proportions. The case measures 48 × 38 × 13.3 mm and weighs approximately 40 g without the strap. It is substantial on a smaller wrist, particularly overnight.
Its main hardware specifications include:
| Feature | Specification |
|---|---|
| Display | 1.82-inch AMOLED |
| Resolution | 480 × 408 pixels, 347 ppi |
| Case dimensions | 48 × 38 × 13.3 mm |
| Weight | Approximately 40 g without strap |
| Connectivity | Bluetooth 5.2 |
| Calls | Built-in microphone and speaker for Bluetooth calling |
| Exercise tracking | More than 80 exercise modes according to Huawei UK |
| Water protection | IP68; not intended for swimming or immersion |
Health features include ECG, optical heart-rate monitoring, blood oxygen, sleep, stress, temperature and activity tracking, subject to regional availability. Notifications and Bluetooth calls make it a usable everyday watch, but the D2’s value is concentrated in health monitoring rather than in a broad smartwatch ecosystem or advanced sports platform.
IP68 does not make it a swimming watch. Huawei says it is not designed for swimming, immersion, hot showers, saunas or high-pressure water exposure.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Battery life: the important qualification
Huawei rates the D2 for up to six days in typical use. That figure changes dramatically when the feature that distinguishes the watch is active:
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
| Use case | Huawei’s rating | Ownership implication |
|---|---|---|
| Typical use | Up to six days | Suitable for ordinary smartwatch and health tracking, depending on settings |
| ABPM at 15-minute intervals | Approximately one day | Charge fully before a monitoring session and expect frequent charging afterward |
Actual endurance varies with notifications, calls, workouts, screen use, sensors and environmental conditions. The short ABPM runtime is not a minor footnote: the feature that makes the D2 medically interesting is also the feature that most reduces its battery life.
Best Value
- Inflatable Cuff Designed Specifically for Blood Pressure: The smartwatch is equipped with an inflatable airbag strap and combines a blood pressure detection module with a high-precision PPG sensor that detects fluctuations in blood pressure by oscillometric measurement. The blood pressure watch then generates blood pressure measurement data through a self-developed chip and a unique fine algorithm. The Watch not only measures BP manually at any time, but also sets monitoring reminders.
- Incoming Call Display and Message Notification: The BP smart watch for men women can also receive message notifications and display the content (Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, Twitter, etc.) All notifications are alerted by vibration. Once the smartwatch is connected to the APP, the watch can directly prompt you incoming calls. If you need to answer or hang up, you need to do it on your cell phone. So you won't miss any important calls or messages even if you keep your phone in your pocket.

Android, iPhone and Huawei Health
Huawei lists compatibility with Android 8.0 or later and iOS 13.0 or later. The watch pairs with a phone through the Huawei Health app for reports and broader health-management features.
Basic pairing does not guarantee identical functionality on every phone or in every country. App version, operating system, regional account settings and local approval status can affect blood-pressure, ABPM, ECG and reporting features. iPhone users should be especially careful to verify the exact supported workflow before buying, rather than assuming that Android and iOS experiences are identical.
For a purchase made outside Huawei’s official market, check the regional Huawei Health requirements and medical-feature availability first. The ability to import or pair the hardware is not proof that the intended blood-pressure service is supported.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsHuawei Watch D2 versus the alternatives
| Your priority | Better direction | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Wrist-based scheduled ABPM | Huawei Watch D2, where officially supported | It has a built-in inflatable airbag and scheduled measurements |
| Samsung ecosystem and US availability | Compatible Samsung Galaxy Watch with Samsung Health Monitor | Samsung’s feature is available to select Galaxy users in the US from March 31, 2026, but requires calibration with a conventional cuff |
| Lowest-cost conventional home monitoring | Validated upper-arm monitor | Better suited to simple home readings and clinician-directed monitoring |
| Sports, apps or longer battery life | General fitness smartwatch plus a separate BP monitor | Keeps smartwatch and medical-monitoring priorities separate |
| Diagnosis or treatment decisions | Clinician-directed equipment and follow-up | A consumer watch should not determine diagnosis or medication changes |
Samsung’s approach is technically different from Huawei’s. Samsung uses a compatible Galaxy Watch paired with Samsung Health Monitor and requires calibration with a traditional cuff; it is not a self-contained inflatable-cuff watch and is not the same as 24-hour ABPM from the D2.
Common problems and recovery steps
| Problem | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Measurement fails | Movement, talking, trembling, poor fit or unsupported wrist position | Rest, reposition the wrist, check the strap and retry once |
| Large difference from an upper-arm cuff | Wrist-height error, different timing, poor reference technique or individual variation | Repeat closely timed readings under controlled conditions and discuss persistent differences with a clinician |
| ABPM report has too few readings | Loose fit, movement or an overly active day | Start with a full charge, follow the wearing instructions and choose a quieter day |
| Battery dies during ABPM | Frequent inflations are power-intensive | Fully charge before starting and plan for roughly one day in this mode |
| Reports are unavailable in the app | Regional restrictions, pairing problems, compatibility or software version | Check official regional Huawei Health requirements before purchase and troubleshoot pairing |
| Overnight use is uncomfortable | Thick case or repeated inflations | Treat comfort as a personal trade-off; do not assume ABPM will be disruption-free |
| The watch cannot be worn safely | Wound, inflammation, treatment or unsuitable wrist size | Do not use it on a wounded or medically treated wrist; ask a clinician |
Who should buy the Huawei Watch D2?
It makes sense if:
- Blood pressure is the main reason you are buying the watch.
- You specifically want scheduled daytime or overnight trends.
- You live in a market where the BP and ABPM functions are officially supported.
- Your wrist measures between 13 and 21 cm.
- You accept a thick case and approximately one day of battery life during 15-minute ABPM.
- You also want ECG and general health metrics in the same device.
- You are prepared to learn and repeat the positioning technique.
Choose something else if:
- You want the cheapest and simplest way to take routine home readings.
- Your clinician specifically requires an upper-arm monitor.
- You live in a region where the medical features are unavailable or unverified.
- You need several days of battery life while ABPM is active.
- You mainly want advanced sports analytics, apps, payments or a deeper smartwatch ecosystem.
- You expect continuous blood-pressure readings rather than intermittent cuff inflations.
Verdict
The Huawei Watch D2 should be judged as a health-focused wrist blood-pressure monitor that also functions as a smartwatch, not as a general smartwatch with a token blood-pressure estimate.
Its inflatable airbag, oscillometric measurement and scheduled ABPM make it one of the more credible wrist-worn blood-pressure products in supported markets. Independent validation results are promising, and the ability to collect nighttime trends without attaching a conventional cuff repeatedly is its clearest advantage.
The compromises are equally important: wrist measurements demand careful positioning, the case is thick, ABPM reduces battery life to approximately one day, medical features vary by country, and the watch is not a universal substitute for an upper-arm monitor or clinical testing. Huawei listed the D2 at £349.99 on its UK store when checked, while its China product page listed a starting price of ¥2,988; local pricing and availability may differ.
Buy it if wrist-based ABPM is your central requirement and official regional support is confirmed. Skip it if you mainly want ordinary smartwatch features, inexpensive home monitoring or a clinician-directed upper-arm solution. Use readings for monitoring and discussion—not for emergency diagnosis or changing medication without medical advice.
