Yes—the Huawei Watch Fit 3 is unmistakably Apple Watch-inspired. Its rounded-rectangular case, right-side rotating crown and secondary button create a close visual echo of Apple’s smartwatch. But the original “official images” claim needs qualification: the pre-launch pictures were reported from German retailer listings, not clearly identified Huawei press images.
The more accurate verdict is that the Watch Fit 3 borrows heavily from the Apple Watch’s physical design while offering a different software platform, broader phone compatibility and much longer claimed battery life.
What the pre-launch images actually showed
The images showed a square-ish watch with rounded corners, a flat rectangular display, an aluminum body and two controls on the right side: a rotating crown above a conventional button. It was pictured with sport and leather-style bands in a range of consumer-friendly colors.

PhoneArena’s original report described the product as an Apple Watch copycat after German retailers listed it before Huawei’s launch. TechRadar later independently described the design as very similar to the Apple Watch.
Were the images really official?
Not necessarily. The original coverage used the phrase “official images,” but its reporting attributed the material to retailer listings. The safest description is therefore retailer-published pre-launch images, official-looking product renders or images from retailer listings.
That distinction matters because there is no established evidence here that Huawei itself issued those exact images as a press announcement. Nor is there evidence that Huawei admitted to copying Apple, or that the design was found to infringe Apple’s patents, trademarks or design rights.
“Copycat” is best understood as a description of the visual resemblance—not a legal conclusion.

The similarity is strongest when the watches are viewed from the front and right side. The crown-and-button arrangement reinforces the Apple association, although those controls are not exclusive to Apple and do not make the two products functionally equivalent.
The actual Watch Fit 3 specifications
Huawei’s official specification page lists the following figures for the Watch Fit 3:
- Dimensions: 43.2 × 36.3 × 9.9 mm
- Weight: approximately 26 g without the strap
- Display: 1.82-inch AMOLED
- Resolution: 480 × 408 pixels at 347 ppi
- Case: aluminum alloy
- Sensors: optical heart-rate sensor, ambient-light sensor and nine-axis IMU
- Connectivity: Bluetooth 5.2, with NFC on selected versions or markets
- Compatibility: Android 8.0 or later and iOS 13.0 or later
- Water resistance: 5 ATM
- Charging: magnetic charging pins; Huawei specifies a 5V/1A charging requirement
Early leak coverage listed the display as 480 × 480 pixels. Huawei’s official specification page gives the more authoritative figure of 480 × 408 pixels, so the 480 × 480 number should not be treated as settled fact.

Huawei also claims up to 10 days of maximum battery life, seven days of typical use or four days with always-on display enabled. Those figures are Huawei’s stated results under its test conditions, not a universal real-world guarantee. Enabling always-on display, frequent GPS workouts, Bluetooth calling and heavy notifications can reduce endurance.
What it does that an Apple Watch does not
The Watch Fit 3 runs HarmonyOS rather than Apple’s watchOS. It works with both Android and iOS phones, while an Apple Watch is designed around the iPhone ecosystem.
Huawei lists built-in GPS, more than 100 workout modes, sleep and heart-rate tracking, blood-oxygen monitoring, stress tracking, women’s-health features and Bluetooth calling through a paired phone. It is therefore more than a cosmetic shell copying Apple’s silhouette: it is a lightweight fitness-focused smartwatch with its own software and services.
The product’s main practical advantages are:
- Compatibility with Android as well as iPhone
- Much longer claimed battery life than typical daily Apple Watch use
- Built-in GPS for outdoor exercise
- Basic notifications, fitness tracking and phone calling
- A lightweight 26-gram body before adding the strap
Those benefits come with trade-offs. The Watch Fit 3 does not provide Apple’s deeper iPhone integration, mature third-party app ecosystem or full range of Apple-exclusive communication and safety features. Feature availability can also depend on the Huawei Health app, phone platform, firmware and region.

For Android users: potentially yes
An Apple Watch is not a practical Android purchase. The Watch Fit 3 is much more viable for Android users who like the Apple Watch’s shape but prioritize battery life, notifications, GPS exercise tracking and general wellness features over a large smartwatch app library.
For iPhone users: only with important compromises
The Watch Fit 3 supports iOS 13 or later, but iPhone compatibility is not the same as Apple Watch feature parity. An iPhone owner who wants seamless Apple services, the broadest app support, cellular independence or Apple’s integrated safety features should look at an Apple Watch instead.
The Apple Watch SE 3, for example, was listed from $249 for a US GPS model on the captured Apple page. That is a historical price signal for that page and model, not a like-for-like global price comparison.

For battery-conscious buyers: the Huawei has the clearer advantage
Huawei’s claimed seven-day typical endurance and four-day maximum with always-on display are central to the Watch Fit 3’s appeal. Apple Watch battery life varies by model and use, but buyers who dislike daily charging will generally find the Huawei approach more convenient.

Battery claims should not be compared as though they came from identical tests. The most meaningful question is whether you prefer a richer phone-integrated platform that may require more frequent charging, or a simpler fitness smartwatch designed to run for several days.
For serious athletes: investigate carefully
TechRadar found the Watch Fit 3 attractive as an affordable Apple Watch-style alternative but noted limitations for more serious athletes. Buyers seeking advanced running analytics, structured training, recovery analysis, navigation or a specialist sports ecosystem should compare it with dedicated sports watches rather than judging it mainly by appearance.
Health tracking and water resistance
The Watch Fit 3 includes consumer wellness features such as heart-rate, SpO₂, sleep, stress and calorie tracking. These readings should be treated as estimates for general wellness, not as medical diagnoses or substitutes for clinically validated equipment.
Its 5 ATM rating is also narrower than the label can suggest. Huawei describes the watch as suitable for shallow-water activities, not diving. The company warns against diving, hot showers, saunas, hot springs and high-speed water exposure. Leather and metal straps are not intended for swimming, even where the watch body itself carries a water-resistance rating.
Launch pricing and availability
Launch prices varied by market and strap. PhoneArena reported approximately €160 for a rubber-band version and €180 for a leather-strap version. TechRadar later listed the Watch Fit 3 at £139.99 in the UK and AU$222 in Australia.
These are historical launch-era or review-era figures, not confirmed prices for September 2026. They should not be presented as a current US MSRP. TechRadar also reported that the watch was not available in the United States at the time of its November 2024 review; that does not establish its current US availability.

Before buying older or imported stock, check the local Huawei store or an authorized retailer for:
- Regional warranty coverage
- Huawei Health app support
- NFC and wallet availability
- Supported languages and firmware
- Charger inclusion
- Battery condition, especially on used units
- The model’s current software-support status
Huawei’s UK specification page stated a defined support period of two years ending May 20, 2026 for the listed regional model. That statement is specific to that page and region and should not be generalized worldwide.
Should you buy the Watch Fit 3?
Consider it if you want an Apple Watch-like shape, use Android, prefer multi-day battery life, need built-in GPS and basic fitness tracking, or want notifications without committing to Apple’s ecosystem.
Think carefully—or choose another watch—if you need an extensive third-party app library, cellular independence, advanced athletic tools, ECG or other model-specific health features, Apple-exclusive services, or clear official support in your country. Also consider Huawei’s newer Watch Fit generations before buying discounted Fit 3 stock; the Fit 3 is a 2024 product, and availability, firmware support and battery condition matter more as remaining stock ages.
Verdict
The Huawei Watch Fit 3 plainly borrows from the Apple Watch’s visual formula. The rounded rectangular case, crown and button are similar enough to justify the “Apple Watch-inspired” description, and the original retailer images made that resemblance especially obvious.
But it is not an Apple Watch clone in software, compatibility or purpose. HarmonyOS, Android support, built-in GPS, fitness features and much longer claimed battery life give it a distinct identity. It is best described as a Huawei fitness smartwatch with a strongly Apple-inspired design—not a literal replacement for an Apple Watch, especially for iPhone users who depend on Apple’s ecosystem.
